She is in her junior -year and is this year's homecoming chairman. In the past, IVTiss Nelsen has b<pen active on the year hook staff. The pretty young lady was among those invited to an honors dinner at the university. McHenry Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kleinhenz of Crystal Lake are parents of a son May 17. A son was i)orn May 18 to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kellogg. A Woodstock couple, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Musser, became parents of a son May 22. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Obey of Lake Villa announce the birth of a daughter May 23. Memorial Hospital, Woodstock Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McMillan of Wonder Lake welcomed a daughter May 20. Other Births Mr. and Mrs. Gere Thennes welcomed their first child, a son, Todd Edward, May 20, at Sherman hospital, Elgin. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thennes of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Fri^hk Henkel of Volo. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stach at Sherman hospital, Elgin. Mr. and Mrs. James Chambers of McCuIlom Lake became parents of a daughter at Sherman hospital, Elgin. Sgt. E/5 and Mrs. Alfred Miller of Cherry Point, N. Miss Karen McNally of Volo was a pretty bride last Saturday, May 22, when she walked up the aisle of Zion Lutheran church to meet her bridegroom, Mr. Dennis Shaver of Fox Lake< Miss McNally is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McNally of Volo and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shaver of Ingleside. Rev. Carl Lobitz officiated at the 1 o'clock, double ring ceremony. Baskets of glads decorated the altar, and the pews had satin bows and glads. The radiant bride chose a floor length gown of silk organza over taffeta, with bodice featuring an embroidered silk organza rose motif, oval neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. The controlled skirt with rose motif was accented with a bow in back. Her full overskirt extended into a chapel train. On her head she wore a pearl and crystal trimmed crown. The bride's jewelry was a strand of pearls which was a wedding gift from her grandmother, Mrs. Rose Klemm. Patti McNally of Volo acted as maid of honor, Candee McNally was bridesmaid and Jamie McNally, junior bridesmaid. The flower girls were Joy and Jill McNally. All are sisters of the bride. They were attired in twotone turquoise, floor length gowns styled with oval necklines and three-quarter sleeves. The empire waists were accented with a panel down the back. They wore matching headpieces with blusher veils and carried pink carnations and glads. William Grass of Ingleside served as best man. Dennis McNally of Fox Lake was groomsman and Kevin McDonough of Long Lake was junior groomsman. Ushers were Patrick and Michael McDonough of Long Lake. Mrs. McNally selected for her daughter's wedding a blue chiffon over taffeta dress with matching accessories and a white orchid corsage. Luncheon was served at the bride's home for between 100 and 150 guests following the nuptial rite, after which the couple left on a short honeymoon trip north. The bride is a graduate of Wauconda high school and attended MacCormac^ Business College in Chicago for a year. She is employed as a legal secretary for Runyard, Behanna, Conzelman and Schultz in Waukegan. Mr. Shaver graduated from Grant high school and is employed by Fox Lake Concrete Products. The newly married couple will reside at 267 East Grand Avennue, Fox Lake. Obituaries JOSEPH M. BAUER Joseph M. Baqer of Janesville, Wis., dietf Thursday, May 20, at Mercy hospital, Janesville, following a short illness. Mr. Bauer, 54, was born in McHenry June 14, 1910, son of Math and Margaret Britz Bauer, and lived here until about twenty years ago. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Salzman of Woodstock, Mrs. Isabelle Larsen of Broadhead, Wis. and Mrs. Lillian Berthold of Winfield, 111.; two brothers, Alvin of McHenry and Bernard (Bud) of Saginaw, Mich. The body rested at the Peter TVL Justen & Son funeral home until 9 o'clock Saturday, when a M^ss was sung at St. Mary's Catholic church. Interment was in the church cemetery. DELLA MATTHEWS A funeral Mass was sung at 10 o'clock Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic church for Mrs. Delia Matthews, 77, of 3708 W. Waukegan Road, McHenry. She died the evening of May 19 in McHenry hospital. Mrs. Matthews was born Sept. 20, 1887, in Johnsburg, daughter of Matt and Katherine Nell Heimer. She resided in the McHenry community all of her life. The deceased was a member of the Christian Mothers of St. Mary's church, St. Clara's Court, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, and The Catholic Daughters of America. She leaves three childrert, Mrs. Dorothy Buchert and Miss Jean Matthews of McHenry and 0SMTAI S FLOWER SHOW WINNER James Pearson of Ringwood won a blue ribbon for his tryptych, "The Blackhawk Wars", in the Bull Valley Flower Show held last weekend at Willow Springs Farm, Ridge Road, McHenry. Edward erf Evanston. Four brothers preceded her in death. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home until the time of last rites. WILLIAM HUFF A funeral Mass was sung in St. Anastasia church, Waukegan, Saturday for William A. Huff, 71, of Gurnee, who died May 20 in Waukegan, following a long illness. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, McHenry. Mr. Huff was the brother of Julia Freund of McHenry. Mr. Huff was born in Spring Grove Sept. 8, 1893. . He was a retired roofer. Survivors are his widow, Sophia; a son; three daughters; a sister; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His first wife, Mary Ann, died in 1949. riAROLD IMMEKUS Services were held in Detroit, Mich., Tuesday for Harold Immekus; 41, of that city, who died May 22 of a heart attack. He was the son> of. Frank Immekus of McHenry. CHARLES T. O'LEARY Funeral services were held in Chicago the last of the week for Charles T. O'Leary, 38, of 1846 N. Kedvale, Chicago, who died in McHenry hospital May 18." He had been a patient there for one week. Among survivors is a brother, Frank J., of Draper Road. PAULINE ASHBY Last rites for Mrs. James (Pauline) Ashby 63, of 8879 Woody Trail, Highland Shores, Wonder Lake, were held Saturday afternoon from the Schneider- Leucht funeraJ home in Woodstock, with private interment. Mrs. Ashby died May 20 in Memorial hospital, Woodstock. The deceased was born in 1901, in Chicago, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Anton Huslik. She is survived by the widower; three sons, James, Jr., and Michael of Chicago and Robert, serving with the Air Force in England; two brothers, Charles and Bruno Huslik; two sisters, Louise Harms and Mary Huslik; and three grandchildren. Judging was done by a panel of distinguished experts from all parts of the country, representing many different fields of education. From thousands of entries, there were six Illinois Recipients of this award. KIWANIS CLUB CONTINUES MANY BENEFIT PROJECTS -McHenry Kiwanis Club is celebrating its tenth anniversary. During the ten years that the club has been in existence,- it has worked- on many projects for the benefit of the people of McHenry. Kiwanis is- primarily concerned with working with the youth of the community, and the majority of their projects are in this vein. However, some of them are general projects benefiting everyone. Many of the projects inaug-; urated in the last ten years are still continuing. They are as follows: Working with the Crippled Children's Camp at JPitakee Bay, school lunches for needy children; eye glasses and medical care for needy children: participation in the Christmas basket program with other or-" ganizations; sponsorship of a Boy Scout troop; Club Afterglow; McHenry high school football banquet; contributions to Woodstock Children's Home; McHenry County Mental Health Center; school scholarships for McHenry high school; Merit Award presentation in the various schools in McHonry, plus many other projects too numerous to list. Lake Shore Drive, Wonder Lake, participated in an international exercise called Operation Fairgame III in the central Mediterranean and on the island of Corsica May 16 to 25, while serving aboard the destroyer USS Strong. Thirty-four American and twenty-six French ships took part in the exercise, along with ground troops frrtm the two countries. United States Marines of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment-took part, along with the French forces. France provided troops from the Group Fusiliers Des Marine Commando, Group Tactical Assault and French Foreign l^egion. Fairgame III is one of a series of combined French and U.S. naval exercises which have been conducted annually to provide mutual tactical training and familiarization in offensive and defensive air, amphibious, submarine and antisubmarine operations for French and U.S. forces. His ship's mission included artti-submarine warfare and shore bombardment in support of amphibious operations.
