John Street announces, evening vacation Bible school starting June 14 and continuing through June IS, from 7 to 9 p.m. The theme of the school is "My Saviour Teaches Me". These arc coordinated lessons from the beginners' classes through young teens. Four departments are beginners, primary, juniors and intermediate or young teens. There will be handcraft classes also. Refreshments will be served. Anyone interested or needing transportation is asked, to call Pastor Berkich at 385- 1519. Request Increase In 4-H Premium Funds Senator Dennis J. Collins <R> DeKalb, has introduced legislation which will increase the agriculture premium funds paid to 4-H Club members for projects exhibited at the Illinois County Fairs. Health Museum Is Visited By Children «A tour of the Hinsdale Health Museum was conducted recently for fourth grade students and their teachers, Mrs. Mary E. Rose and Mrs. Geraldine Moerschbaecher, of Johnsburg public school in McHenry. Following an introduction to other exhibits by Valeda, the Talking Glass Lady, the children viewed a puppet show about the teeth and participated in "classroom" presentations of lectures by the two museum teachers. The boys and girls later went from one exhibit to- another pushing buttons and listening to telephones relating the exhibits to the wonderful body in which we live. Of special interest to the group was the Heart exhibit, where they could see and hear the sounds of their own hearts. Admission is free. Museum hours are 9 to 5 daily and 1 to 5 Sundays. Mosquitoes have been known to fly 30 miles on a single foodhunting trip. (Those from each area were sprayed a different color). ! HERE AND THERE IN BUSINESS OPEN HENNY PENNY A ne\V Henny Penny carryout service has opened this week at 3815 Elm Street, near the corner of Elm and Front Streets. The new business specializes in special chicken orders, but also carries other favorite food items. The store will be open seven days a week. SALES CITATION Milton J. Voigt of Wonder Lake was ciited for his outstanding life insurance service at the annual convention of the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counsellors which met in Dearborn, Mich., recently. He is ah area representative for Aid Association for Lutherans. Mr. Voigt was awarded a certificate of recognition for more than a half million in sales in 1964. FORM PARTNERSHIP JAMES BYKOWSKI Announcement has been made of the partnership formed between Rudi Jirousek and James Bykowski, the latter Jiaving recently entered the business. The photographic studio they conduct is located at 3812 W. Elm Street. / Bykowski attended Loyola University and will resume his education next fall while continuing his interest in the local business. For two years he was engaged in free lance photography locally, and he also worked for Rudi J. Photographer for two yeare. SAVINGS PRESIDENT McHenry friends of Gerald K. Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rogers of McHenry, will be happy to learn that he has been elected president and managing officer of the Crystal Lake Savings and Loan Association at a meeting of the board of directors held last week. He was also named at a shareholders meeting to a one-year term as director. FORMER McHENRY GIRL LEAVES TO STUDY ABROAD Miss Camille Warnes, a transfer from Santa Rosa Junior College, who will be a senior next year at Chico State College, has been awarded a $500 scholarship for summer study art the University of Oslo, Norway. The award was made by District 6, International Lodge of the Sons and Daughters of Norway, and is known as the Ludwig Uttergaard Memorial Scholarship, in honor of the noted Norwegian educator. She will reach New York on or before June 19, when the ship, the Oslo Fjord, is due to sail? Miss Warnes is a student in the division of Physical Education, Health and Recreation at the college, and is making a specialty of work with juvenile delinquent girls and the mentally handicapped. While at the University of Oslo, she will study a course called "A Survey of Physical Education in Scandinavian Countries." Her sports are tennis and water and snow skiing. Miss Warnes formerly made her home in McHenry. Church Street, McHenry, is among students who will receive bachelor's degrees on June 12 at Illinois State University, Normal, III. The 106th commencement will start with a processional that morning and a program scheduled for 10 o'clock in Horton field house. Over 700 students expect to receive degrees in June. Ralph G. Newman, noted Lincoln historian of Chicago, will give -the main commencement address. Times The Country Art Fair annually spotlights a particular artist, in addition to exhibiting the works of over 100 McHenry county entrants. This year, the work of talented Lori Wilhelm will be featured in a one-woman show. Lori lives in McHenry. and is well-known for her pastel portraits of children. Her paintings hang in Representative McClory's office in Washington, D.C., and she has won the blue ribbon at the Town and Country Art Show. She has also exhibited at Shady Lane, and has been an active participant in the Art Fair from the beginning. "I don't really have a philosophy of art," says Lori, "I just enjoy painting. My style is always changing." The Art Fair is at the McHenry Junior high school on June 18, 19 and 20. It is sponsored by the women's auxiliary to McHenry Hospital. Be Wise Read The Classifieds uliiple Sclerosis Door To Door Drive Approximately 18,000 volunteers are calling on their neighbors and friends in the cause of Multiple Sclerosis. The door-to-door campaign began June '7. "The problems that beset fajnilies where a member has been stricken with this disease are many," slated John Milliken, co-chairman of the Chicago chapter. "The answer to this national scourge will be found in research laboratories im the United States and the foreign research program sponsored by the National Society. A successful campaign will be the means of increasing our research program until the cause and cure of Multiple Sclerosis is known." Report Thefts To Sheriff's Office NURSE GRADUATE AWARD MORE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NURSING Two more scholarships have been awarded by the woman's auxiliary of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, swelling the total awarded to nineteen since the program's start in 1951, Mrs. Harry Abraham, chairman, has announced. Mrs. Abraham heads the committee which chose Lynn Neumaier, Marian Central Catholic high school senior, and Becky Belcher, Woodstock Community high school senior, as winners of the annual scholarships given by the woman's Auxiliary. The awards are $200 a year for three years a total of $600 to each young woman to further her hopes to become a nurse. The only return the girls make is a promise they do not rejxay the money for it is an award. They do agree to return their first year as a nurse to serve on the staff at Memorial Hospital. Items valued at more than $650 were taken from the home of Bernard and Cletus Mayer at 5710 N. Fox Lake Road. Pistakee Highlands last Thursday. Entrance was made by forcing o[>en a back door.
