The young Jads have taken it upon themselves to organize and elect captains, but they should have adult help. "Mr. Hill," as he likes to be •called, would like a meeting with youngsters from 8-13 years tonight, Thursday, June 17, about 7 p.m. He will be at the ball field to see what the Jads wishes are. His idea is to organize the boys into two groups by age with the 8-10 year olds comprising the mi- . nors and the older lads would formulate the majors. Such things as equipment, I uniforms, days and time of practice would) be discussed. If any fathers wish to come forward and lend managerial or coaching help, this too, would be appreciated. Here's hoping all the young fellas will be on hand tonight for the meeting. Mrs. Wilhelm studied at the Art Institute in Chicago for two years op Saturdays and also held summer classes in art work for children for several years. One of her paintings hangs in Congressman Robert McClory's office in Washington. The young woman, who is lovely enough to be subject matter for a picture herself, is the mother of two children and her husband's name is Richard. We sincerely hope our residents will make a special ef- "fort to attend the Art Fair to * see what our home town gal - has done. Another local contributor to the! Art Fair is teen age. The nine lrom the village proper inciude senior class president (McHcnry High) Jim Anderson, Diane Bjork, Penny Miller, cousins Janet and Kathy Murray, Jim Morris, Joanne Reid, Dominic (Don) Tomasello and Ken Frost (Marion Central Catholic high school). May we also stretch a point and recognize Roil Gelvin, Gail Parks of West Shore Beach and Kathy Thompson of east McCullom Lake Road. Many of these fine young people left the high school spotlight with scholarships and recognition, as well as their diplomas. Thanks to Jim Anderson, Diane Bjork, Ken Frost, Ron Gelvin. and Gail Parks, the community's already impressive .National Honor Society enrollment has reached new heights. Many of them are of the second generation in their families. Scholarship winners include Jim Anderson -- Illinois State and Kiwanis; Ken Frost -- Illinois State; Gail Parks -- Illinois State Teachers; and Kathy Thompson - • Student Council and Illinois State Teachers for the Handicapped. Receiving gold keys for high scholarship ( a, cumulative four year average of 3.3 or hotter) at the MCHS commencement exercises were Jim Anderson. Diane Bjork, and Gail Parks. Ken Frost ranked seventh in Marion's class of 192 and also received the National High School Math, contest test award and an award in dran^a. May we take the opportunity to wish all of these young people every success as they begin, now, to shape their own lives-- to go on to higher education, advanced job training, military service, or employment and to meet the "challenge of society" spoken of by Jim in his commencement address. "That challenge sets a goal we shall never actually reach within our lifetime, no matter how much we try or how much we succeed, because for every achievement, the challenge of life places a new goal ahead of us." May these graduates always keep trying!!! White Collar Gals Two of our cutest young chicks -- cousins Judy and Susy Murray with parents Betty and Larry and Mickey and Earl, respectively, have finished the curriculum at Moser Business College, Chicago.
