His mother's first thought was that he had symptoms of the flu.' As the pain increased he was taken to the doctor. After investigation and several tests, plus two attacks in the doctor's office, he was rushed to Harvard hospital and an appendectomy operation took place at 6 p.m. the same day. Donald took his sweet time coming out of the shock--but kept the nurses busy walking with him once he was able to get out of bed. Grandma came out from Chicago to stay with the other children while Eleanor, Donald's mother, was going back and forth to be with him. Donald left his nice air-conditioned room June 29 to come home to delightful weather. We all wish you a speedy recovery. The Jinx To Color TV Carol Kennebeck and children, Alan, Karen arid Scott, spent a week in Westchester, with Carol's' brother, Bob Ganiprel, and family. They visited many places of interest in Chicago,. The children enjoyed the Museum and Ac- (]tir.rium, and 'Olrol was •thrilled at seeing the new indoor theater at Hillside. However, Carol's" greatest desire was to see at least some of her favorite TV programs on brother Bob's colored TV screen. Unfortunately each show of anticipation turned out to be a re-run in black and white. It was decided she was a "jinx of the week". They came home for three days then Carol said she was homesick ior Westchester and went back for another, but much shorter visit. Are you sure, Carol, you did not go back just to break the spell? FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good ptizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2> For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs fail moral and material support. Flan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. Who would guess that just out of sight there's a six-lane turnpike! Thousands of people drive past this peaceful place every day, and never know it exists. Occasionally, through a break in the sheltering trees, someone glimpses shining water and green pastureland In the distance... then the road curves, and the' lovely scene is forgotten. Many travellers hurry along life's road with empty hearts and unseeing eyes, never realizing what the transforming beauty of the Christian faith could mean to them. Because they always expect to find happiness around the next bend, they overlook the still waters of spiritual peace. In tiie quiet, hallowed atmosphere of the Church, God answers man's deepest needs. Through prayer and worship, our souls are strengthened and restored. And when we continue our journey, we are not alone. God is with us. Copyright 1965Keisitr Advertising Service, he., Strraburg, Va.
