Local police and fire departments did a fine job of handling and protecting the huge crowd. Next comes the Fiesta Day crowds. When we think of Fiesta Day we think of Frank Low, who gives so much of his time and energy to the big event. Frank pulled up beside us at a stop sign the other day and we commented ,on it being a beautiful day. "Yes", said Frank, "and the Cubs are winning". It was time to move with the green light so all we had time for was a remark that he couldn't have made us happier! Another of our fine Old Timers, Mrs. Nellie Bacon, was called to her reward the past week and the Main Street area sees another change. Seems a shame that it takes a funeral or a wake to bring old friends and relatives together. One of our kissin' cousins, Eleanor Walsh Young, threatens not to come to our funeral if we don't go visit her. Announcement was made in last week's issue of The Plaindealer of Coach Cliff Fulton's decision to leave his duties at McHenry High. Through many years he has given fans some interesting and exciting basketball teams. We always felt that his boys were giving him the best they had. Sometimes it wasn't enough, but who could ask for more. He never threw in the towel, but waved it plenty to let off nervous strain. So long, Cliff. Thanks for the memories written into the sports, history of McHenry High. We are pleased to hear from a long time friend, Florence Knox, that she gets a chuckle out of items in S.I.H.. Got to thinking of the big doughnuts Florence's mother, Aunt "J" and our own mother used to make. Man, that was eatin'! We remember when we dreamed of getting enough sports news to fill one page. Now. we get so much that the problem is trying to find space to print what we have turned in each week. Always problems. Pals When I see a boy who hasn't a dog, Or a dog who hasn't a boy, I think of the lot they are missing Of frolic and genuine joy. Some parents think dogs are a nuisance! Just something to bark and annoy; They can't know how badly a boy needs a clog Or how sadly a dog needs a boy. -- Mae Norton Morris There was a timo when wo used to scribble off attempts at poetry much to the chagrin of our old boss "Mosc". He didn't like poetry no matter who the author might .be. Guess the poetic mood has gone out of our life. One of these days we will try it again, but probably won't subject you readers to our efforts. Chuck Hiller is going great guns for the Mets as hits arc rolling off his bat in good numbers. We waste no timo in looking for that box score each morning. Both Chuck and Bobby Klaus are in the lineup,, so local interest runs high. Keep swingin' fellows. Department Of Conservation Changes Zones Springfield, 111., June 29 -- The line dividing the Northern and Southern Conservation Zones has been changed, William T. Lodge, director of the Illinois Department of Conservation, announced today. After July 1, all of Illinois north of U. S. Route 36 will be in the Northern Conservation 'Zone, and all of the state south of this highway will be in the Southern Conservation Zone. U. S. Route 36 extends east across Illinois from Louisiana, Mo., to Montezuma, Ind., passing through Pittsfield, Jacksonville, Springfield, Decatur and Tuscola. Formerly the division line was the northern edges of Calhoun, Jersey, Madison, Bond, Fayette, Effingham, Jasper and Crawford Counties. Lodge said a major reason for the change wjis to case confusion among hunters. "Sometimes a squirrel hunter close to the old division line would wander from the Southern Zone into the Northern Zone before the squirrel season had started in the Northern Zone and therefore would be subject to a citation. We hope that the new zone line will help sportsmen to avoid making this mistake.'1 COUNTY LEACjUE STANDINGS McHenry Johnsburg Dundee Richmond \v L 6 4 5 4 5 fi 4 6 STOCK CAR RACING Every Saturday Nile Kenosha County Speedway Wilmot, Wis.
