The boys caught their share of rock and black bass at various lakes. A visit to Washington Island, Aqualand and Ephraim was enjoyed. At Ephraim they all went to see a program 'Christmas in July. A . fish boil was relished at Sisters Bay. On the way out and back they stopped at Green Bay to see our former neighbors,, the Poggansees, who have a motel in Green Bay and send their regards to all in. the Shores and said they would be happy to see us if we are in Wisconsin. Some of the fish that the boys were bringing back were shared with the Poggansees one evening. > ing, water filled balloon and human wheelbarrow contests. Sympathy To Korczyk Family Friends and neighbors were saddened by the news that Lawrence Korczyk, 80, of 3008 Kinley boulevard had passed away Friday the 16th in Resurrection hospital in Chicago. Mr. Korczyk had resided in the Shores for ten years and is survived by his widow,. Stephanie .three sons, Joseph of Tennessee, George of Lombard and Lawrence, Jr., of Glenview, also seven grandchildren. Burial was on Monday in Chapel Hill Gardens West following services in Lombard. Our. condolences go to the family. Beach Duty On August 1 Phillip Brod is in charge of clean-up operations at the beach and his coworkers are T. Hawkins, R. Dobbrrtin, M. Denigan and J. Monoray. Brods Have Visitors Neva's brother and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lakin, drove in from Oakland, Calif., to stay with the Brods for °5 days and got caught up with all the news that had happened since they visited last year. A surprise visit from old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wilson, and their daughter from Palos Verdes, Calif., rounded out a pleasant week. Picnic A Success On Saturday morning after a bad early morning storm the picnickers were eying the skies for signs of rain but luckily the clay turned out to be very nice. Games were played by young and old alike and music by a 4 piece band was enjoyed by all. A big vote of appreciation to all who worked to make it a success, Marty Koleno, Dale Jenner, Bob Harper, Ray Pogor and the girls who worked in the 'Chuck Wagon' all afternoon making sandwiches tor the hungry mob, Dorothy Koleno, Barb Pogor and Roberta Mieritz, Terry and Willis Coates purchased the prizes for the games and Audrey Whitney who was in charge of the game. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone as there were so many involved in the project we could almost list everyone in the Shores. Ray Pogor got up early Sat-, urday morning and got the plywood for the comfort stations so a big round of applause to him. On the way home they went by way of Milwaukee to get a peak at Ing's new niece, Colleen Fitzgerald, who was born a few months ago. Roberta Mieritz took Vicki and Craig and her sister's four children into Chicago on Wednesday to the Museum of Science and Industry. On Thursday A1 and Roberta arjd the kids went to Lake Geneva" to cool off with a swim. The Pogors welcomed unexpected guests on Tuesday, Pat Ruemelin and her three children popped in for a visit. Pat is a former resident of the Shores. The Wetzels have had out of town guests. Doris's sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Hauck, and their youngest son, James, from Ohio have been visiting our area. One day all went to the track and a delicious dinner was enjoyed one evening in Wilmot. The Museum of Science and Industry was also given a tour during the week they were here. The Whitneys entertained the Calvin family on Tuesday. They are from Bensenville. On Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Buzinski from Norridge came in and the Senior Whitneys drove in also. On Thursday the Whitneys and the Olszewskis went to an amusement park with the children and had a ball on the rides. Julie and Sam Zeimet went to a wake in Chicago on Sunday. A good friend of 27 years passed away, William Davney, making it a sad trip. It has been reported that a large gasoline tank full of gas has been stolen from the Peters boat on the Channel so it might be a good idea to take any valuables with you when you tie up. He will have to take it easy for a couple more weeks but in this hot weather that will be a pleasure. Hope he Sincere wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to John Coughlin's mother, Mrs. Mary Coughlin, who was injured seriously in an automobile accident on Sunday evening, July 18. Mrs. Couglin had been visiting at the. Coughlin home for about a week intending to leave last Thursday but decided vto stay and see the Fiesta Day parade and drum corps show. Homing Pigeon Found Jack Flint and Kurt Pogor found a banded pigeon with a broken wing and Barb took it in to the Vets for first aid. Christening Don and Carole Roths were Godparents for their newest nephew, Douglas John Mondt, on July 18 in Chariton, Iowa. They left the Thursday before and drove to Bode, Iowa, where they picked up two of their children who had spent a couple of weeks with Grandma and Grandpa. The Dells was where the Fred Woodbury family spent their week vacationing. They stayed at a motel, and saw the water show, the little western town, took a helicopter ride, and did lots of swimming. Pam says the nicest part of the whole week was that she didn't cook a single meal and that is the way to enjoy a trip. On Friday evening the girls cleaned and cooked fifty fish that were caught by their spouses. The children enjoyed the Indian Pow Wow where they saw the skinning and roasting of a deer. Another delight to the children was the trip to what is called the Dumps to see the bears. With all the Scout camps in that area the garbage is dumped in one big hole and in the evening the bears come to eat. Charlotte Urban's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kauffman, were staying at a resort nearby and stopped to see them one day. They came back exhausted but wish they could do it again.
