For her marriage, the bride / chose a sleeveless sheath of ivory silk faille piped in beige satin, with matching sleeveloss lace overblouse, white heels and accessories. Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara with a short veil attached*. Miss Taylor's corsage was of beige colored cymbidium orchids with just ,a hint of lavender.. Pearl earrings completed her bridal attire. Miss Stephanie Pottina of Richmond served as maid of honor and wore a lavender and white evening frock, lavender accessories, and a corsage of baby rosebuds to harmonize with her costume. Jack Morris of McCullom Lake was best man. To mark the special occasion, the bridal party had dinner at an area restaurant. A Lake Como resort. Lake Geneva, Wis., was the destination for the newly wedded couple's honeymoon trip. The two have taken up residence in McCullom Lake. The former Miss Taylor and the groom attended McHenry high school. The bride is employed in the office of the McHenry Medical Group while Mr. Hosin is an employee of the Tonyan Construction Co. CAROL DEGEN IS MARRIED TO MICHIGAN MAN Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the 11:30 o'clock nuptial service last Saturday, July 24, which united in marriage Miss Carol Degen of McHenry and Mr. Kenneth K. Flashberger of Caspian. Mich. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Degen and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Flashberger. The altar of St. Mary's Catholic church was decorated for the occasion with bouquets of gladioli and white carnations. Pretty, dark haired Miss Degen chose a floor length gown of peau de soie, the bodice of lace trimmed with tiny seed pearls. Her train fell from just beneath the shoulders, made entirely of lace, extending over a bouffant skirt. Her long sleeves were of lace. For her headpiece. Miss Degen selected a flower type arrangement with pearls, with shoulder length bouffant veil attached. Her bouquet consisted of white stephanot is. an orchid and carnations in cascade style. Patricia Diemer of Chicago acted as maid of honor and Kathleen Pupillo of Hammond. Ind., was bridesmaid. Both were attired in white, peau de soie dresses, the bodices trimmed with rose appliques, empire styles and shocking pink crepe, floor length skirts. They had white accessories and carried colonial style bouquets of white carnations with a center mum tinted pink, and cascades of carnations. The best man was David Lowden of Negaunee. Mich., and groomsman was Ronald Flashberger of Cudahy, Wis. Mrs. Degen selected a pink Fleming Baby Christened Sunday The infant son of Dr. and Mrs. Dermot Fleming of Delavan. Wis., was christened Brendan Edward by his uncle, Rev. Charles O'Brien, at' St. Patrick's church, Sunday, July 25. Sponsors for the new baby were his aunt, Mrs. Donald Bauer; and an uncle, Thomas Fleming. The little lad was born July 16 at Lakeland hospital. Elkhorn, Wis., and weighed 7 lbs., x2 oz. His paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fleming of Delavan and the maternal grandmother is Mrs. Grace O'Brien of McHenry. Mrs. Fleming is the former Jean O'Brien. Community Club To Meet Aup. 2 The next regular meeting of the Johnsburg Community club will be held Monday, Aug. 2. at 8:30 p.m.. with all members urged to attend. Frances Mayfieltl Surprised At Shower A surprise miscellaneous bridal shower was held Sunday afternoon at the Ernest Schroeder home on Main street for Frances Mayfield. The hostess was Mrs. Robert Wyles, who will be the matron ' of honor at the marriage of Miss Mayfield and Donald Herdrich, Sept. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic church. Christen Williams Baby Recently Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams of Niles announce the recent christening of their first child, Christine Theresa, at St. Juliana's church in Chicago. She was born May 23 at Holy Family hospital, DesPlaines and weighed 8 lbs., lVa oz. Mrs. Williams is the former Adella Dickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dickson. The paternal grandparents are Louise Williams and the late Robert Williams. Showers Honor Cindy Freund Miss Cindy Freund was guest of honor at four pre-nuptial showers held recently. One, a kitchen shower, was given by Mrs. Ben Freund at her home «^n Delavan, Wis. Following a champagne toast to the bride, luncheon was served to eighteen guests from McHenry, Milwaukee, Waukegan and Delavan. A, miscellaneous shower at the Shorewood, Wis., home of Mrs. Gus Valent was a second event honoring Miss Freund. A buffet supper was served to thirty guests. The third gathering was a linen shower at the home of Mrs. Jean Hanrahan of Sussex, Wis. Mrs. Alan Freund of McHenry and Miss Holly Haag of St. Paul, Minn.,, acted as co-hostesses. PLAN RUMMAGE SALE TO BENEFIT COUNTY RETARDED" The McHenry County Association for Retarded Children is planning their second annual rummage sale at Engdahl's Barn in McHenry. The dates chosen by the chairman, Mrs. William Pierce of McHenry, are Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6 and 7. This association sponsors the training center and workshop located at Wonder Lake for the retarded children and adults of McHenry county. The group has been expanding their money-making projects to aid in the operation of these two facilities. For this sale, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Engdahl graciously allow the use of their barn and grounds each summer. The address is 508 N. Green and the hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a:m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Pierce would gladly accept helpers during the set-up previous to the sale days or at the sale hours. On Grandstand Program HURT IN FALL Susan Orsi of Summit, 111., sufered a broken ankle when she fell in the river Tuesday. She is confined to McHenry hospital. Garden Party At Island Lake The annual garden party, luncheon and cards, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the home of Mrs. Andrew Amrich, president, 114 E. State street, Island Lake. Mrs. Vivian Benson is in charge of arrangements, and luncheon will be prepared and served by members of the board. Guests from other communities have always enjoyed these parties so the invitation is extended to all. Reservations must be made early. The woman's auxiliary of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County plans its annual Holiday Hospitality Day on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Mrs. Jack Satorius, first vice-president of the auxiliary and one of those spearheading this money-raising event, said many of the familiar features of Holiday Hospitality will be on the agenda again. This includes the Farmer's Market, the wonderful selection of tasty baked goods, and the creative works of Mrs. Nettie Burger and her group of artists that make imaginative articles from cones and weeds. IDELLE Sister M. Idelle Schaefer, O.S.F., made perpetual vows at St. Joseph convent, Milwaukee, Wis., recently. Priest relatives of the Sisters making vows officiated at the ceremonies in which approximately sixty-five Sisters made their final vows. Idelle, the former Betty Jane Schaefer, graduated from McHenry Community high school. She entered the School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee in 1956, where she attended Alverno college, graduating with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Since graduation, Sister Idelle has been missioned at St. Mary's Hill hospital, a psychiatric facility for women in Milwaukee.
