Andrew Co. 815-338-1200 Woodstock, Illinois Enjoy Northern Camping Trip The Lehmans enjoyed a week of camping up north in Wisconsin. For the second week of their vacation they took the children to an amusement park on Monday. Tuesday they rode up to Elkhart Lake, Wis., for swimming and boating. Wednesday they enjoyed a delicious dinner and a movie. The rest of the week was spent picnicking with friends and relatives in Rolling Meadows and Hoffman Estates. News Bits Frank Adler returned home from the hospital after spending a week for treatments. A v(?fy sick" man was he. Mr. and Mrs. F. Bergman spent the day • p i c n i c k i n g ' a t . Wooster Park with their many f r i e n d s from D e s P l a i n e s , Mt. Prospect and Chicago. Also had as their guests for four days Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sanatra, from Davenport, Iowa!: . We are happy to have the Hagbergs who are in business in McHenry as our new neighbors. The Jack Browns had a number of guests out for the weekend. Besides a barbeque dinner. they took in just about everything such as boating, bowling, fishing, and sight seeing. Testimonial Dinner One of our favorite residents, A. L. Sengstock, or Judge as we all call him, was honored by the City of DesPlaines at a testimonial dinner. The Judge is well known for his fight on juvenile delinquency and has given many talks on this subject before many organizations. Even though he no longer sits on the bench in Des Plaices and the surrounding communities from which he will be sorely missed he still has his law practice which will keep him busy. Besides the plaques which he received --• a beautiful self portrait done in oil will hang proudly on the walls in his home. It makes us happy to see our beloved neighbor enjoy this honor while he is still around. Vacations Visitors from Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, are spending the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garlinski on Lakeview. Mrs. Clara Harrington, our treasurer, returned home from an extended .trip, to Minnesota and Canada where they managed to catch some of those big northern fish. Wouldn't you know all their relatives came out frorrt Chicago to clean up that fish that Mrs. Harrington fries so deliciously. Sports Jamboree Irma's daughter, Dorothy, along with Brian McCafferty of McHenry spent three days in Charleston for the sports finals sponsored by the J.C.'s and we all know those two youngsters had the time of their life. ' . " • <2 Village Meeting Don't forget ' our Village board meeting Monday evening at 8 p.m; Please make plans to attend these meetings held the first Monday of every month. News Bits Michael Williams received a sleeping bag for his birthday which he plans to use when he goes oir those northern camping trips. Mrs. Williams, Village Clerk, informs me they are getting one for 'each of their family so they can all sleep out with little Mike. That is what I call "Togetherness" There will be-a village picnic Aug. 22 1 p.m. 'till wee hours for those who want to have a good time. There will be fun and music for all those who attend. If you wish to donate a dish or anything that goes with picnics please contact Mrs. Ed Lehman or the mayor's wife, Mrs. Mangold. A bike parade will start the festivities and there will be prizes for the best decorated bike. I advise those for different age levels to contact Bonnie LaBay for further information about the parade. Little "Mike Williams took time out from his paper route to take in a little swimming at Holiday Park with his buddies. Friday he and his sister, Mary Beth, went to see the Cubs play and were disappointed because they didn't w i n . Oh, w e l l they c a n ' t a l ways win. Mr. and Mrs. Kunkel took a trip to visit friends at their resort on Bear Lake near Minocqua, Wis., where they indulged in some fancy fishing which is their favorite sport. Ches. arrived home after spending several days with my dad in Louisville, Ky.. He got to see all my nieces and from there he and my dad went to Lexington to see those beautiful race horses and Man O War's statue on the Bradley farm and then to Georgetown, Ky., to visit my mother's grave. I am glad to know he enjoyed his trip and visit because he sure deserves it. Before Ches. started on his trip we had company from Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cole and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nelson -- The men decided to go down to Sunnyside Beach to pay a visit to Aunt Violet Crowley and cousins, Jerry and Ted Smith. Chester and I are terribly grieved about our dear friend, Gerry Hettermann, passing away. We will miss him veiy much. This is all for now. I'll be back into your homes next week if the Lord be willin' . . Our national debt is tremendous - - but think what it would be if we had to repay what we owe to Washington, Lincoln and many others.
