This is the "dunk 'em" deal where one of our citizens insults the £rowd and is dropped in the drink for his efforts! - Youngsters will be thrilled With the ponies available for riding. There wil be games for young and old and refreshments available when hunger threatens. For the big guys, there will be plenty of liquid refreshment to slake their tmm. An attraction which is a big drawing card will be repeated and that is the cake Walk, when "tasty pastry" is offered as the prize. Music for dancing will be provided following the selection of Miss McCullom Lake. There are features to appeal to every age group and every pocketbook so mark the date in RED! Places Second Lovely little 12-year-old Cathy Klapperich, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter John Klapperich, arrived home with her parents amid fanfare Sunday afternoon after placing second in the organ contest held during the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. A huge banner proclaiming "Congratulations, Miss McCullom Lake Organ Champion" was strung across the living room. The handiwork was done by Aunt Kay Godina and Cathy's younger sister. Diane. The three left for the' fair Friday evening and returned home Sunday afternoon, emotionally spent. About 600 entries in various age groups and length of taking lessons, were judged. Cathy played against eleven other entries in her group. She has been taking lessons from Mrs. Anne Marie Scarbrough for about lVz years. Isn't that tremendous? The contestants were judged on a multitude of points. For her victory, Cathy played "Bye, Bye, Blues" on a spinet organ. She was allowed only three minutes on stage. For her efforts, she was presented with a red ribbon for recognition. The winner received a blue ribbon and a small trophy. We rejoice with the Klapperichs and know how PROUD they are of their talented and lovely daughter. Official recognition of the young lad will be made Sunday when he is presented for christening. Our very warmest congratulations to the Wilsons. Village Board Routine committee reports were made by the trustees at the last meeting of the village board held Monday, Aug. 16, in the beachhouse. According to commissioner Harry Lock, road repairs will be completed before summer's end. The board voted to hold no meeting Sept. 6 because of it being Labor Day. The next meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. Cullom-Knoll The Cullom-Knoll ass'n^will meet Sunday, Sept. 12, since the regular meeting would fall on the Labor Day weekend. A report of the annual summer festival will be forthcoming and there will also be election of officers. , The "Welcome Mat" Is Spread For Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schiavone ^and their three youngsters - Valerie, who is almost 13, Donna - 11, and Donald, Jr. - 7 V2. They come to us from Lilymoor and have purchased the former Chase Koch home on McCullom Lake road. The youngsters are ' already acquainted with many of the local kids from school and we do hope that neighbors in the area will extend a welcoming hand. fibrosis research and help for victims. Surgical Patient Mrs; Virginia Gibson entered McHenry hospital, Monday Aug. 16, for surgery on her throat. She returned home a few days later and is doing fine. During her absence from home, handsome sailor lad, Elmer Taylor "rode herd" on the "Indians" and cleaned the house, following the big family reunion held on the 15th. Even On The Grapefruit Again With the birth of their sixth child, Joyce and Ron Wilson come out even on the grapefruit and the sexes again! Gary Francis was born Aug. 11 at 8:42 p.m. in Belmont hospital, Chicago, and tipped the scales at a diminuitive 6 lbs., HV2 oz. With 41/i> years since a new baby blessed the family, all members are fighting for the chance to "do" for the l'il guy. A great deal of work and worry were expended by mother and doctor and for all the hilarious details, you must see Joyce. COAST TO COAST Illinois is the only state currently enjoying a two-way, coast-to-coast tourism program with bases in the two largest population centers of the nation. One is the outgrowth of the other and together they will have reached more than 11 million potential tourists by the end of the 1965 travel season. The first, the Illinois Pavilion at the New York World's Fair, is concluding a successful two-year run and will have entertained more than five million visitors by the fair's closing on Oct. 17. The second is the newly established Illinois Tourism Center adjacent to the" Lincoln Theater in Disneyland at Anaheim, Calif., which drew an attendance of six million last year. JUNIOR LEGION ELECTION The charge for letters carried from St. Joe, Mo., to Sacramento, Calif., by the Pony Express, was $5.00 each.
