Sun's message can be heard at 11 a.m. GUIDANCE PROGRAM District 15 has employed Dan Suffoletto as guidance counselor for the McHenry Junior high school. It has been felt that with the growing enrollment of the district and the Junior high school, a counselor would be necessary to help meet the increasing demands of students. A guidance department within the school system is fast becoming a major service in the schools. At first, high schools were considered to be the proper place for' guidance counseling. Now, the educational trend is to extend counseling to junior high schools. The duties which the guidance counselor has in a junior high, helps to, give the educational system in a community a more rounded program whereby the students will be the benefactors and therefore eventually the community. The particular duties which Mr. Suffoletto has are as follows: to counsel students individaully at the request of teachers or students themselves, most important those students who have problems educational, social and vocational; to teach group guidance classes on such topics as How to Study, Good Grooming, Courtesy, Self-Confidence, etc., to register all new students to the school; to help provide information on students to teachers so a -better learning climate may be had; to develope an assembly program; to help orientate seventh graders to help eighth graders planning high school and to administer school wide tests. About 8 million copies of the Bible are sold each year in U. S. The next "best seller" usually is the Sears Roebuck catalogue. Very few books in any average yea$ will reach one million sales.
