THE McHENRY PLA1NDEALER Thursday. Ociober 7,1965 '66 Chevrolet Truck Line Features Mm New in Chevrolet's 1966 truck line is this short cab for many heavy-duty models. Aerodymamically styled for low air-resistance, its short length gives improved load-weight distribution, yet retains adequate driver room and comfort. Many panels are easily removable for access to the chassis or for damage replacement. Other features of the 1966 line include a new three-ton series with payloads up to 17 tons, six new engines, a three-speed automatic transmission, and several safety items as standard equipment. The line has been expanded to 366 models* (~ apito( Report C 'ne question frequently asl- ?d is this: How come LB J is having such phenomenal sue :ess with his legislative progrf m? Bu LBJ spent more than thirty years on "The Hill" :nclu ling twelve years in the Ho jse of Representatives and tw elve years in the U.S. Senate. He was majority leader in the Senate before becoming Vice-President, and as Vice-President he presided over the Senate (which was his coi stitiitional responsibility). Th? President knows literally hu ldreds of the members of th< House and Senate on an intimate, first-name basis. ' In addition, President Lyndo I Johnson has not been unmi. idful of Republican influence in the Congress. In making most of his major decisis ns, he has called in Republic in congressional leaders, as well as his more obedient Democratic lieutenants in the Congress. The President has gi' en particular attention to th • Republican Senate leader, Everett Dirksen, who assisted in the drafting of the voting rights law. With respect to many other measures, the Administration has acceded to Republican views, as in the immigration la v amendments, the health care measure and many others where Republican amendments were adopted in order to assure passage. No one can question the Johnson success with legislation in the 89th Congress. Success came even with those pi ograms which are under fire, including the poverty bill, farm legislation and foreign ail. But with success comes rrsponsibility.
