They were fortunate in obtaining Donald T. Mead as „ guest speaker. Mr. Mead was educated at' Eastern Illinois university in - Charleston and later look a Master of Science decree at the University of Illinois. He has done graduate work at Southern Illinois university, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Chicago. He has been a high school teacher, guidance counselor, supcrinten- « dent of schools and a director ' of two business cojleges. He ~ was the first rehabilitation « counselor to serve at the Man- ' teno State hospital, working . with the adjustment needs of ^ the mentally ill. He has been ' director of rehabilitation at the • Lake County Tuberculosis. Sanatorium in Waukegan since early in 1959 and maintains a private practice in counseling as well as operating the Waukegan Business college. Mr. Mead has authored sev- , eral pamphlets that have appeared in professional. magazines on rehabilitation. Linda's secret ambition is to be the first lady astronaut. Jean Hettermann, 14, with, a desire to be the first woman President, is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Hettermann of 3615 N. Chapel Hill road. Now a freshman at Marian Central high school, she is a member of the GAA and Mar-Cens. After graduation, she hopes to attend college. Jean's interests are dancing, swimming, skating and bowling. Her instruments in the unit are flag and rifle. I hirteen-year-old Donna Kaminski, who uses the rifle and saber to perform, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kaminski of 4809 W. Shore drive, McHenry. Donna, an eighth grader in Junior high school, lists as her hobbies swimming, roller skating and collecting records. Lee B. In fact, this phrase echoes throughout the entire building. Chicken Fat by Robert Preston is the name of the fitness record played in the Junior high physical education classes. The purpose is to help the parents gain a better understanding of their child's progress in school. These are to be returned to the school by Friday, Oct. 15. Parent Conferences On Friday, Oct. 22, the first parent conferences of the year Section Two Page Whroi " -5. -- ;; will be held. Students will - not be in attendance that day^ls# and teachers will be there to' meet the parents. This , year the school is on a departmentalized basis and as a result, the child sees several teachers in a dpy. Parents are urged to call the school and make an appointment to see the teacher. Twenty minutes wili be allotted for each conference. It is hoped that all parents will make arrangements to see their child's teachors. Conferences will be arranged on the basis of appointment, so be sure to call the school ta obtain the time you are able to use for this purpose. The school will be open for this purpose from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Parents not able to be in during that time are asked to make nl;-ns to see the teachers on another day when it would be more convenient for them.
