LUXURY DETROIT--Dodge last month introduced its popular Polara line for 1966 -- seveni models ranging from an economical 4- door sedan to a sporty bucketseat hardtop and convertible. The newly styl&d line features many innovations designed to provide added dependability, safety, comfort and convenience. A 440-cubic-ioch V8 is a new high-performance engine option for '66. The Polara models, which Dodge officials described as "big but remarkably inexpensive," include 2- and 4-door hardtops, 6 and 9 passenger station wagons, two 4 - door sedans and a convertible. All have a wheelbase of 121 inches. The line will go an public disp 1 a y a t t h e n a t i o n ' s D o d g e dealerships on September 30. 'Dodge made its name in the auto industry by' selling a larger car priced just a few dollars above the traditional lowpriced models," said Maurie Sunnyside Dodge owner. "The 1966 Polara is the up-to-date version of that car. "It's ' designed for the price conscious motorist who wants luxury, lots of room and a wonderfully comfortable ride." DART FOR 1966--Dodge offers 20 models for 1966 in the Dairt line, largest of the compacts. Featuring bold new styling and a number of safety and convenience innovations, choices include station^ wagons, sedans, hardtops and the sporty Daft GT Convertible, shown above. Front wheel disc brakes are an option on the 1966 Part* i Dodge Dart For 66 New Inside And Out DETROIT, Sept. 15 -- The Dodge Dart for 1966 displays bold new styling on the ouside and new elegan-ce on the inside. Engineering refinements are designed to provide longer trouble- free motoring and greater ease of operation. Five safety accessories, formerly optional, have been made standard. The Dart again features a cloth upholstery. But optional all-vinyl upholstery is offered in the Dart 270 four-door sedan. Dodge designers point out that the vinyl is easier to clean and more practical for family u$e. All-vinyl upholstery is standard in Dart 270 and GT c<jnchoice of 20 V-8 and six-cylinder vertibles and 2 - door hardtclps models. They made thier public and in Dart 270 station wagoiis. DODGE HARDTOP--The 1966 Coronet is a completely new car with fresh, clean styling and many new safety, comfort and convenience features. Coronet is offered in four series: Coronet, Coronet Deluxe, 440 and 500. The top-of-the-line Coronet 500 is shown above. A wide range of engine options is available in the Coronet. Dodge Unveils All New Coronet DETROIT. Sept. 25 -- Dodge I", IF. unveiled its most elegant '.(> car, the Coronet. The car is completely new r id the styling carries a fresh, t >ntemporary theme. The complete Dodge line, including Monaco, Polara, Coronet and Dart went on display in Dodge dealerships on September 30. The Coronet was* introduced to the Dodge line last year and officials predicted it would lead the way for Dodge. To date it has accounted for more than 40 percent of Dodge retail sales. "The crisp, fresh styling of the Coronet should make it even more popular in 1966 and we should produce about 300,000 Coronets in the coming year." 4 Series OTfered In the economical Coronet series, there are a 2 - door and a 4 - door sedan. In the Coronet Deluxe series, 2 - and 4 door sedans and a 6 passenger station wagon are offered. The Coronet 440 -series has a 2 door hardtop, convertible, 4- door sedan, 6 - passenger station wagon and 9 - passenger wagon. The top of - the line Coronet 500 series features a 2 door hardtop and a convertible. A 4- door sedan will be introduced about November 1. Recognizing the broad range o f p e r f o r m a n c e s p r e f e r e n c e s among car buyers, Dodge has given the Coronet buyer a wide choice of engines. The standard power plants are the economical 225 - cubic - inch Slant Six debut in Dodge dealerships on September 30. "The Dart has bee®' a continuing success since its introduction as" a compact in 1963, because it offers the agile performance of a small car and the family-size spaciousness of a larger car," said Maurice Harteav Sunnyside Dodge Owner. "Over the years, the Dart has b u i l t a r e p u t a t i o n a m o n g c a r - buyers for being a fine value. It will be an even better value in 1966." Dart seats and door panels have a fresh, more luxurious appearance for 1966. Fabric patterns are new. The instrument - panel is highly stylized but definitely driver-oriented. Sedans, long the favorite fami l y c a r , h a v e t r a d i t i o n a l l y h a d and the 273 cubic inch V8. Optional engines, all V 8's are: 318 - cubic - inch with single two barrel carburetion; 361 cubic inch, single two barrel; 383 cubic - inch, single fourbarrel; and 426 - cubic inch, dual four barrel. The biggest engine, called the H e m i 426, has hemispherical combustion chambers, and is a Interiors of the top - of - the - line Dart GT feature new front bucket seats and an optional between- seats console which houses the gear selector for the automatic or four-speed manual transmissions. The seats have an ultra-modern "shell" design and look far more expensive than one would expect in a compact. An o p t i o n o n the Dart GT hardtop is black or white vinyl covering for the forward part of the roof, set off by bright moldings. This gives the roof a landau effect. Standard safety equipment in the 1966 Dart includes front and rear seat belts, padded instrument panel, windshield washer, multi-speed windshield wipers, back-up lights and left outside rear-view mirror. Standard engines in the Dart line are a 170 - cubic - inch - six - cylinder (101 horsepower) and a 273 - cubic - inch V8 (180 hp). Optional power plants are a 225 cubic - inch, six - cylinder engine (145 hp) and a highperformance, four - barrel - car - buretor version of the 273 V8 called the Charger 273 (235 hp), c o m p e t i t i o n e n g i n e t u n e d f o r normal, everyday driving.
