The members of the SAC club have been invited to join us at 9 o'clock to discuss the proposed plans for a club house to be put up by the two clubs near the baseball diamond. This was brought up at the October meeting but since the officers felt that not enough of the nfiembers -were present to make In decision it was .postponed Until this month in the hope that more will attend. Our meeting will begin at 8:15 as usual and at 9 the 'special' business will be discussed. Everyone welcome to come in and voice their opinion. Refreshments after the meeting. Visitors From Poland Vera Ribachuk has welcomed her cousin, Alicia, who arrived at O'Hare on Monday from Wroclaw, Poland. Alicia is 18 and is finding everything in America very different from life in Poland. She will be a permanent resident here and hopes to become a citizen eventually. Vera is going to try to enroll her in high school as she doesn't speak English yet. Anyone who can speak Polish will be welcome to come over and talk about conditions over there, also any teenagers in the Shores are invited to meet her. Color TV, women drivers and the abundance of food here are sources of amazement to Alicia who says we have more on the tabic for one meal than they see all week. Stop by at 706 Riverside Drive and say Hi to her. Condolences To The Winters Our sympathy to the Winters family who have just returned from Pennsylvania. SUNNYSIDE VILLAGE "RUBY CROWLEY PHONE 385-2662 Lehmans See Niece Married The Lehmans attended the wedding of her niece, Annita Sgotto, who became the bride of Gregory Davis of Chicago. It was held at the Lyon's ballroom and for music there was a sixteen piece orchestra for the enjoyment of 250 people. The dinner was served in a family style and the tables were full of everything from soup to nuts. It was an affair that Betty and Ed will keep with their memories for many years to come. Village Police I received the bad news that our officer Casey is in the McHenry hospital having a complete check up. We all hope he will be back on duty very soon. That is one reason why we are in need of volunteers to come forth for police duties in our village. Teenagers Bonnie LaBay and Magi Frisby journeyed to Appleton, Wis., last week to spend the weekend with Bonnie's cousins. My guess is that they had a whopping good time as teenagers never miss, 4 Weekend Visitor Irma's boy, Charley, came home from Milton College for the weekend to attend the homecoming at Marian high in Woodstock. I noticed cars in and out at their house due to the many friends he has acquired in the McHenry area. Bowling The electric companies in the surrounding areas participated in a bowling tournament which was held at Des Plaines new modern bowling alley. Irma Gunther was one of the participants who tried very hard to win one of their cash prizes. Obviously she didn't make it this time but maybe next. The Judge The Judge and his wife, Genevieve had house guests out for the weekend, daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Sigwalt, and the granddaughter, Gwen. The cool fall weather didn't stop the Judge from broiling their porter house steaks on the grill in the back yard and served inside their lovely home. Sunday morning they were busy storing the boat and doing other chores which is a necessity this time of the season. w.s.c.s. Whether it's Hallowe'en, Mardi Gras, a Hawaiian luau OT a masquerade ball, almost everyone of every age enjoys wearing a costume. It makes us feel "different"... less restrained and more light-hearted. Perhaps it's a relief to leave our everyday self at home for a while. For many of us, that tired, worried, unhappy self is far from satisfactory but we seem to be stuck with it. Yet consider this. The burden of self that we carry is unnecessary. . . and we have a standing invitation to lay it down! One of the joys of following Jesus is that we must /leave self behind." There is no place in the Christian life for worry or woe, because the logical sequences of faith an God are contentment and serenity. Yes, the gloomiest pessimists become clear-visioned optimists when they are filled with the light that only God can give. CopyHgkt lXSKthttrAAxrtUlat Srrrfar, fitt, Stndag. V<t o THE CHURCH FOR ALL ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is tho greatest factor ©n earth for tho building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehAise of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake, i 2) Fop his children's sake. f3> For the sake of his community and nation. <4) Por the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material, support.
