Jackson, director of the Illinois Office of Economic Opportunity, has announced. A total, of 33,924, boys an dgirls attended pre-school classe§ and paticipat£ Sl i" the Illinois Head Start program. Illinois was second only to the state of New. .York where 38,108 children' received pre-school training, The Head Start program is-designed to help prepare underprivileged pre-school children for elementary school education. Total cost of the program in Illinois was $5,126,- was federal funds,' wtiile $558,- . 493 was the value of the it^al contributions. During Colonial days, there were three requirements for voting, all of which seem to make sense: 1) belong to some church, 2) be sober and a hard worker, and 3) be worth at least $1500 in cash or property. Jacqueline Wisniewski and Roberta Audino were also voted in. Jacqueline lives in Chicago at the present time, but will be in this area soon. Roberta Audino is a former member who was reinstated. Sunday, Nov. 21, is the 5th district meeting. This will be held at Aurora Women's club in Galena at 2 o'clock p.m. All delegates and alternates are urged to attend. Chicken A La King 2 cupfuls cooked chicken - (diced) 1 can mushrooms 1 hard-cooked egg 2 cups cream sauce J/2 green pepper Vn red pepper or 1 pimento (canned) 1 cup chicken broth 1 tsp. salt, Vz tsp. celery salt Few sprinkles of paprika Combine all ingredients in top of double boiler.
