According to The Institute For Safer Living, even the most hardened driver will show some reluctance to strike a dog or some other animal. Usually, they don't want to hit pedestrians either, but many drivers assume that pedestrians are better able to look out for themselves. This' is not always the case. CAR AILMENTS Cars, like people, often develop sudden ailments. According to The Institute For Safer Living, these ailments are especially likely to show qp when the weather turns colder, and d r i v i n g c o n d i t i o n s b e c o m e worse. For greater winter safety and operating economy, have your car "winterized" by a good auto mechanic. OIL WELL PERMITS The Illinois Division of Oil artd^ Gas issued 322 permits diiring October, L. L. Ruff, director of the Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals, saod last week. There were 176 oil well permits and 146 other permits, compared with 185 oil wtell permits and 134 other permtfts issued during October, 19i64.
