Next week we will start practicing our Christmas caroles so that we will be in good voice when we go caroling on Dec. 23, in the evening. Cub Committee Meeting Changed The Cub commitee meeting which was to have been on Wednesday, Dec. 1, will be held at Mr. Matthews' house on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. This will be Mr-^/Matthews' last commitee nreeting as he is resigning as of this month. So far, a new Cub master has not been found so if you know of any one who would be willing to take over this job I know it would be appreciated if you would call Ron Braun and let him know. Surely some father whose boy is benefitting f r o m C u b S c o u t s c o u l d t a k e over. Come on Mothers, talk your husband into volunteering, you know how important this is to your boy. New Arrival Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Cepulis are the proud parents of their second boy, Darren John, who arrived at Sherman hospital in Elgin on Nov. 17. Darren weighed in" at 5 lbs. 10 oz. His brother, Wayde, was 1 year old on Nov. 3. Our congratulations to you bot Annexation A meeting for the committee of workers on annexation was held Wednesday Dec. 1 so it shouldn't be long before someone will be knocking at your door to sign a petition. We hope that everyone will co-operate to make this job easier for these workers, and even if you don't approve, at least be pleasant about it. These people are only doing a job and it certainly doesn't make it p l e a s a n t t o h a v e a d o o r slammed in your face. We will try to keep you informed as things go along. Lakeland Park Couples Bowling League We had some real hot bowlers last Saturday as Walter Pissowotski came up with a 621 series with handicap and Carole Ketchum had a 640 series tvith handicap. Lee Mai still held his 542 scratch and I still hold my 500 series scratch although Helen Jones came pretty close to beating that, blowing it in her third game. The standings for the first half of the season are as follows; Lucky Strikes in 1st, Bloopers, 2nd, A l l e y C a t s , a n d S i s s i e s t i e d for 3rd, Bad Guys in 5th, Bad News in 6th, Spooks in 7th, Misfits and Arrow B's tied for 8th, Forfits in 10th, Oddballs in 11th and Seabiscuits in 12th. Our next bowlling night is Dec. 11. Girl Scout News At our meeting on Nov. 22 we discussed many things. We decided to take dues for two weeks and use it on a ticket to see "Alice In Wonderland Ballet," which is being sponsored by the Cadette troops on Dec. 4. Then we decided to make Christmas candy favors for the children at Dixon. For this we need all of your used paper towel cores, tissue roll cores, etc. Also decided on, was a winter campout in February. (We sleep inside, and cook outside). We also talked about a Scout trip to the Dells in May. We played Correction I want to apologize to Bill Chadwick for making him two years younger than he actually was last week. Bill celebrated his seventeenth birthday last Sunday, Nov. 2, and not his fifteenth as I had it. Birthday Wishes Today, Thursday, Dec. 2, Carole Humann, Eleanor Haerle, and Donald Arient all will celebrate their brithdays, with Donald turning 12. On the third, Clar Haerle will add another year, and on the fourth Paul Rybak will be 12. Dec. 6 has Dave Druml turning 21, Renee Plusinski will be 4, and Lee Glorch and Marge Webber will add another year. On Dec. 7, Jack Lavin will be 25 and Dec. 8 has Cindy Kamp turning 9, Greg Mayer turning 14 Don Venhius adds another year, and Margaret Oakford being a very active 3 year old. Happy birthday to all of these people and may you have many more. To Penny and Don Veenhius who will be celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary on Dec. 6. May you have many more years of togetherness. Boy Scouts The Boy Scout Scribe, Billy Eckhardt was unable to attend scouts last week because of illness so I have no news of what went on. He just wanted it known that they can still use men to help out at the meetings and of course all boys who have reached the age of 11 are urged to come out and join our Scouts. Strolling Through The Park Wally and Katheryn Kozicki celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on Nov. 21 with dinner at a nearby restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. George Breier, Mr. and Mrs. Edward King, Kathleen Kozicki and her fiance, Tom Shaffer, and Tommy Kozicki all joined them in the celebration. Lyda has a bad1 cold and sore throat and jve certainly hope she is feeling better real soon. The Robert Matthew's family went into Jessie's sister's home, Fran and Rick Sandri, for Thanksgiving along with her other two sisters and their families making it a large family gathering of twenty - six people. Rich and Anne Wohnrade and Ron and Gail Braun had a very enjoyable visit with John and Vivian Steele at their home in Coventry a week ago. Thanksgiving for the Oakfords was spent at Petey's sister's, Marilyn McCullough, and daughter, Patty, along wih her brother, Duke, and wife, Connie Grondy, who had just returned home from the hospital with their 7 day old baby son David, and of course their other boy, Mark. A birthday party in Trudy Koch's honor was held on her birthday, Nov. 28. Her fourth birthday was celebrated with four girls. Renee Nickols, Michelle Fish, Carole Matthews, and Colleen Rode, attending as well as her brothers. Marc and Jamie, and sisers, Michele and Beth Ann. Cake and ice cream were served wih snowmen favors made out of marshmallows decorating the table. The Koch family spent Thanksgiving at Shirl's sister, Ruth, and husuand, Bob La Vreniere's home in Glen Ellyn. This, too, was a family gathering with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Meilahn, brothers, Jack, with his wife, Fran, and Ron and wife, Gail, and son, David, all joining in. Les and Nedra Eckardt had Nedra's family out for Thanksgiving with a delicious dinner served to Mr. and Mrs. Goold, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton, Mr. and Mrs. Martin and her mother, Mrs. Chamiblin. My Thanksgiving was very enjoyable, being able to enjoy a delicious turkey dinner at Roh's folks in Maywood. The best part of it all was being able to bring home a large platter of turkey for sandwiches for the next few days. John enjoyed an extended vacation, staying at Grandma's until Sunday whn I went back in for him. There was a real old-fashioned gathering of all the clans to mark the Thanksgiving holil day. Most every one has a lot to be thankful for this year. The Bottari family and Mr. and Mrs. Mazzoni went to Riverside to help with the festivities. To start the day off was the First Holy Communion of their niece and grandchild, Gale Mazzoni. After dinner they air went to Jackie's folks in Ringwood, where they had more" birthday cake in honor of Tom and an uncle whose birthday he shares. Hope they all know that birthday cake has as many calories as wedding .cake did last week. And this is only the beginning! The end to a perfect day came for Jim and Louise Mc- Enery when son, Mike, called from camp Thanksgiving evening with the news that he would be home for Christmas. Also able to come home at the same time will be Don Harris, Ed Schultz, and Ray Franklin. The Roaches arrived back home in the frozen north after a too brief sojurn in the warmer climes of Texas. They were really deep in the heart of -- in the lovely town of San Antonio. They fit a lot of sightseeing into their schedule, including the famous Alamo. Ruth even managed a short trip into Mexico, where a celebration of Revolution Day was going on. A colorful parade with floats and dancers and loads of people was in progress much to her surprise. The main object of their trip was the National Bird Show in which they had ten of their lovely singers entered. A triple birthday celebration took place, on Saturday evening at the McEnery home in honor of Tom and Edna Hountras who share Nov. 28 as their natal day, and Louise who becomes a year younger on Qee. 1. To mark the big occasions were guests Ann Herzog, Delia Julian. Ivy and Stan Lezak, and son, Mike, Ruth and Orlo McMahon, Ruth Piper and Bob McEnery. This being the weekend of the large tummy ache after all that yummy turkey, Keith Stoltz suffered the grand-daddy of all tummy acne^s which ended in an emergency appendectomy on Friday night. He was rushed to Woodstock hospital and at this time is up again andCraring to go. Some vacation*! Bill and Julie Perry took advantage of the school vacation and spent a long weekend with his parents, and visiting -with other relatives in Zion.
