The homeowners had the opportunity to stand up and , voice their opinions on many subjects^ This is what the people expect at a meeting. weekend at Palmyra, Wis. It so happened her horse "Cinnamon" was her constant companion which I call "Ducky". IMPROVING Mrs. Wentzel is getting around in a wheel chair since she is back home from the hospital. She is improving very nicely which the villagers are hoping-it continues. Ed. Schultz tells me has been able to go for rides in. the car. Remember, he had that heart attack a couple months ago and his doctor tells him he will be able to go back to work in January. Take care Ed. BRIEFS The Bill Dunn family spent the weekend in Chicago with Mrs. Dunn's sister. They took in a movie on Saturday and Sunday was spent preparing that delicious dinner for the family. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Maciarka entertained the Mrs. sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. J. Wolfe from Huntington, West Virginia over the Thanksgiving Holidays. Pauline Schneider spent the PETITIONS The desolving of the village has come to my attention again. Plans are being made by the protecting group to present their petitions at their convenience so I will keep you informed of any further developments. GOOD NEWS For Sunnysiders. We have taken on two more police officers who will be on the alert t o p r o t e c t o u r v i l l a g e f r o m harm. Their names are Dave Davies and Jack Rose. We wish them success in their new assignment. GET WELL SOON First Mrs. Mangold was layed up with an attack of pleurisy and then her daughter comes down with something or other - so that puts the whole household in an ugly position, especially where there are little ones who need attention. THANKSGIVING Mr. and Mrs. Pflug and children Cathy, Budy, Ruth and Cindy spent their Thanksgiving in Maywood at the Mrs. sister's house where all the family were present. They had the usual turkey and all the trimings. The Metzger family Joe, Liz, John, Maria and last but not least little Paul spent their Thanksgiving in Waukegan at the Richard Schuster home. The Art Kunkles spent their Thanksgiving with their daughter and family, Ray, Marge, Steven and Cheryl Ann Nolan. Son, Norman, wife and the little MCHENRY SHORES BEKNICE WILSON 885-4380 LOCAL PEOPLE VISIT DAISY AND JOHN IN HAWAII Mrs. Gladys L o k ay and -daughter, Shirley, will have many pleasant memories of Hawaii where each day brought beautiful sights and the people encountered were all so .nice. First stop was San Francisco where they tasted tocos, rode cable cars and walked hills till they couldn't move. Then on to Oahu and the city of Honolulu where there was so much to see and do. They took a trip around the Island, went to Pearl Harbor, took in the International Market many times. Waikiki beach was fine, weather perfect. They joined a friend and went to a luau and dipped their fingers in Poi, were greeted with leis and wined and dined in splendor for 17 days. They ventured to the big island of Hawaii and spent two d a y s w i t h D a i s y a n d J o h n S m i t h . T h e y a r e b o t h v e r y happy in their Shangra-La and send their Alohas back to all their friends and neighbors in the Shores. Daisy looks great in a Muu-Muu and they have a Japanese style dream house with a view of the ocean on one side and the mountain on the other. It was so nice to see them and they gave the Lokays a grand tour of volcanoes and orchids and a grand send oft, with a band playing the Hawaiian good by while they said t h e i r t e a r f u l f a r e w e l l s a n d promised to return. They finished the trip with three days in Los Angeles, Disneyland, the Farmers Market and Grauman's Chinese Theater. The only regret i.n the trip was that son, Bill, couldn't have been with them instead of in Viet Nam. Meeting Tonight The December meeting of the McHenry' Shores Club will be held at the VFW hall on Rt. 120 at 8:15 on Dec. 2. A gentleman from Cary, Marvin Frisch, will join us at 8:45 to answer questions regarding the roads in the subdivision. Everyone ihterested is invited to attend. Around the Shores John and Marie Hinz spent four days in Chicago over the holiday. There were four occasions to celebrate, John's birthday, the Hinzs' fifty-sixth wedding anniversary, grandson Allen's birthday and of course T h a n k s g i v i n g D a y . T h e i r daughter, Shirley Hess, and the family picked them up and then brought them home again so all the Hinzes had to do was sit back and enjoy the vacation. Bill and Ing Corcoran with five other couples from their place of employment had a wonderful dinner at a famous eating place in Dundee last Sunday. The Dale Hinspater family attended a wedding of Dale's cousin in Chicago on Saturday. Young son 4^ year old David was the proud ring bearer for the affair and he performed beautifully. An egg throwing party took place on > Bayview last week and as a^ target, they used a very nice house. If the children knew what a terrible thing this is they would never do it again. HOSPITALIZED Mrs. Camerotta is still in the St. Elizabeth hospital in Chicago but hoping she will be home with her family when you read this. Joe and Larry spent their holiday with some of the family in North Brook. We hope it is healed before the holidays. . Mrs. Mary Elkins was admitted to the North West hospital in Arlington Heights for minor surgery. XMAS PARTY Lots of fun will be had at the center when the women throw that big Christmas party Dec. 22 - 1:30. Many games will be played and also a grab bag which will have many lovely gifts for the ladies. Coffee and pastries will be served to all the participants. BERMUDA Ann and Joe Blahut drove into Lyons to see Ann's nephew and wife and also their new baby who are up here from Bermuda to visit his mother. THANKSGIVING Mr. and Mrs. Herald Barner had a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings at their son's house in Park Ridge. Mr. and Mrs. Bergner spent their Thanksgiving at their son's house in Milwaukee, Wise. Mr. and Mrs. Gregg enjoyed their turkey dinner and all the trimmings at the home of their friend, Victor Justes, in Griswold Lake. DOGS The secretary, Mrs. Louise Giel, informed me about the stray dogs that make themselves at home in the HILLS - The day to visit Santa's Fun Shoppe in St. Peter's hall is petting very near. The ladies of St. Peter's parish are as busy as bees making preparations for the big day, Satuday, Dec. from 10 a.m. to the evening hours. Come and browse through shops with Christmas c rrangements, spiritual center pieces and gifts, dolls and stuffed toys, fancy goods ajid needlework, parcel post booth looks like the village and thie HILLS do have something in common; NOMINATION The HILLS slate of officers will be discussed and announced at the Dec. 21 meeting. We want the nomination to come from the floor as that will give the people the chance to be free to voice their personal opinion and also selecttheir choice of officers. CONVALESCING Mrs. Emily Martino is back home after spending some time in the hospital. She plans to be in the pink - come Christmas. LCtVC The Lotus Country Woman's Club met at the home of Mrs. Seargent Wednesday, Nov. 17. A delicious turkey dinner was served pot-luck at one o'clock to nineteen, members and four guests. The guests were Mrs. Lizzie Mecklenburg of Richmond, Mrs. Sara Corcoran of Walla Walla, Wash., Mrs. William R. Jones, eleventh district President and Mrs. Willis Peters from C'ary Woman's Club. The club voted to send a d<> nation toward the Christmas fund of Illinois cottage at the Park Ridge school for girls. Mrs. Ida Koberstine presented the program and gave an interesting talk on her three month visit and travels through Europe. The next meeting will be a Christmas party at the home df Mi's. Otto BuChert in Richmond on Dec. 15. All members are to bring an exchange gift valued at $1. of school districts were represented as well as officers of the council. After the business meeting the program was presented by Fred Rozum, Director of Special Education Board. This board has just been formed in McHenry county. Their work is with children in the schools of the county who need special attention. Mrs. Lee Cutten of Woodstock, who is ^he social worker of the board gave an outline of her work. There was also a psychologist present who gave a report on his work. Refreshments were served by the committee in charge. The regular meeting will be held on Dec. 1. Gaests and Visits Miss Safa Corcoran of Walla Walla, Wash., was a house guest for ten days in the home of her cousin, Mrs. Alice Stevens, and family. She was on her way home from a three month stay in Europe. She left for Washington on Friday^ Nov. 19. Mrs. Anna Agger, Miss Sah Hanssen, Mrs. Frances Heineman were guests of the McHenry Woman's club Wednesday, Nov. 10. The meeting was held at the Methodist church hall. M r s . P e g g y B u e s s e l e r , M r s . Marge Seargent and Mrs. Frances Heineman were among sixty- eight women of McHenry County Federation who recently toured the Park Ridge School for girls. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pierce and Mrs. Minnie Pierce were entertained at Thanksgiving dinner in the Clarence Pierce home in Mattison, Ill- Mr. and Mrs. William Shotliff were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shotliff for Thanksgiving dinner. Mrs. Alice Stevens entertained her family for Thanks- Mrs. Earl Harrison of Burlingens of Richmond and Burt^ and Chet. Mr. and Mrs. John ^Sanborn spent Thanksgiving in Chicago at the Clifford Schulze home. The Edward Thennes family and Mr. and Mrs. Victor (Freund, of McHenry were Thanksgiving dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freund. Jim May who is a student at Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. is home for the holiday. He and his mother, Mrs. Agnes May, enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kennejth Larsen in Hebron. Servicemen Home Pvt. Michael (Sonny) Gritzuk was home on leave, but has returned to Fort Sill, Okla. Joe Popelka has completed his time in service and is back home. He was stationed in Georgia.
