Ronald Anderson of the Ringwood Methodist church was the guest £>roai her. * Rev. Atherton with the MYS group attended the Arlington Heights Methodist church on Sunday, Dec. 5. They were most impresssed with the Bishop's report on Africa. I Members and friends of Mount Hope are invited to attend a holiday open house at (he parsonage, 5713 Meadow Hill Lane from 2 to 5 p.m. * The church will hfive two identical Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24. Candlelight Service, one at 7 p.m. and one at II p.m. * Anyone interested in joining (Jie choir is most welcome just oontact Mrs. Marilyn Atherton, HY 7-3806. Choir practice is on Thursday evenings at 7:30 in the church. The choir is now preparing for the Christmas Services. Association News There were only ten (10) members present at the December meeting of the Pistakee Highlands Association. Needless to say that without the quorum necessary, a meeting could not be held. All property owners are urged to attend these meetings, they are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m., at the community center. Many of the subdivision roads have been repaired and graded and the others will be done as soon as possible. The association will try to have all the bad areas repaired before the snow sets in. The beautiful, lighted Christmas tree outside of the community center was purchased by the association and trimmed through the combined efforts of the Teen Club and three of the association officers, Bob Lutz, Hank Boelens and Jim O'Neill. After the tree was lighted everyone got into the spirit of Christmas by singing a few carols around the tree. Santa's Sleigh Ride Route The following is the route that Santa Clause and his sleigh will take, through the Highlands, on Sunday, Dec. 19. The sleigh will start at 1 p.m. at the entrance to. the •Highlands (at the old model homo), they will then go to Broadway and turn left making a stop in the middle of the block at 1:10: the next stop will be the Community center at 1:20; they will then go around Cirqle to Oak Street at 1:30; then turn left at Thelan Drive around to Lake Street at 1:40; the sleigh will then make a stop at the little store at 1:50; it will then go west from the store to the first new road to Agatha at 2:15; then around to Acorn and Pheasant at 2:25; over to Broadway and Meadow Lane at 2:35; the last stop for the sleigh will be Meadow Land and Oriole. Please remember that all of these times are approximate and that it would be better to have your child on the designated corners a few minutes earlier. KOcher Baby Baptized Baby Donna Marie Kocher, daughter of Jeanne and Chuck Kocher, was baptized on Sunday, Nov. 28, in St. John's Catholic church. Her Godparents were, Christopher and Kay Koegle of NorthLake. Jeanne served dinner to the sponsors and her family after the ceremony. This lovely young lady made her appearance recently at the McHenry hospital. She is the fifth child for the Kochers, their other children are. Skipper, 7; Joe, 5; Jerri Lynn, 4 and Carol age 3. Teen Club The Pistakee Highland Teen Club extends an open invitation to all the parents and teenagers of the area, to attend a parent-teen night on Monday, Dec. .20, at the community center, starting at 7:30 p.m. The teens promise a night of fun for all attending, included in the activities will be a panel discussion of various topics. There will also be entertainment and dancing for all. On Dec. 22 and 23 the Teen Club will once again sing Christmas carols through the Highlands. News Ai*|ind Hie Highlands The three children of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Johnson escaped without injuries as fire swepted their home at 5218 Leeside. The tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening, Dec. 7 and the damage was quite extensive. Blanch and Carl Haefliger returned recently from a five day trip to St. Louis. I'm glad to report that Ted Kolb was released from the hospital last week and is back home. Ted is doing much better but will have to have complete bed rest for at least another couple of weeks. Tommy and Dale Morin spent a day, recently with their grandmother and grandfather Morin. The boys were taken downtown Chicago to see all the traditional Christmas decorations. Bob O'Malley made his second trip to surgery on Thursday, Dec. 9, at McHenry hospital. Bob and Bill Barron were seriously injured on Friday, Nov, 26, when their car went out of control on a curve on Ringwood and struck a tree. Both men are still confined at McHenry hospital and I'm sure they would appreciate cards from their many friends and neighbors. We are all praying for a speedy recovery for both of them and hope they will be home with their families very soon. Many of the students at McHenry high school have been placed on the first quarter honor roll, those from this area were, Mary Doll, senior, Diane Jenkins, and Sue Nurse, sophomores and Bridget Redmen, freshmen. All of them were placed on the "B" honor roll. Friends of Lee and Dick Conway attended a pie-Christmas and anniversary party at the Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 4. Those who joined in the fun were Lois and Tom Mason, Bob and Dorothy Jenkins, Bob and Rosemary Lutz, Roy and Magee Sluga, Rose and Dick Farwell, Rosemary and Ray Thelen and Jenny Emmerich, her husband, John was working and unable to attend. Jerry Clifton bagged a deer while hunting in Amosa, Mich. Venison any one. Members of the auxiliary to Lake Region Post 703 were at Downey hospital, recently, to wrap Christmas presents for the patients. Those from this area were, Dorothy Orlowski, Dorothy Jenkins, Myrtle Bentz, Phyllis Benkert, Anna Mae Campbell and Kay Sielisch. Get-well wishes to John Weingart's mother who is confined in a Chicago hospital. Jerry and Donna Clifton were in Madison, Wis., on Sunday, Dec. 5 to visit Jerry's mother and the rest of his family.
