Most of you are biting your nails trying to figure out which resolution to make Friday night when the bells toll for the New Year. College Irma's boy, Charley, and my dear grandchildren, Jeanie Jo, Pistakee Terrace, and Jaanne, Stonegate West, Clarendon Hills, are spending their vacation with their families and then back to college for some hard studying. Judge Sengstock And his wife Gen, spent Christmas eve with their daughter and family, Ray Sigwalt, and their Christmas day was spent with the Judge's sister and family, the Ben Hagemans of Des Piaines. What Do You Know? Santa arrived on time at the village hall escorted by a fireman in his little red truck. Before entering they drove through the streets for the enjoyment of all the kiddies who were watching for him. Bless his heart -- our dear Santa presented them with lovely gifts while the Christmas carols were ringing out from the loud speaker. Each child had the pleasure to sit on Santa's lap and whisper the sweet things in his ears. Cocktails The Lehmans had a big shindig at their home last weekend. The occasion was Joe and Liz Metzger had some unexpected guests last weekend. Their dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Schuster, and ramily from Waukegan and Mr. and Mrs. Schuman formerly of Sunnyside -- now residing in Chicago came out to see little Maria who just returned home from the McHenry hospital where she was treated for pneumonia. We are hoping she will be able to enjoy her Christmas in good health. Confined Cris and LaMar's two older boys. Dannv and Mike, are mfined to bed with that old flu bug. Good thing daddy is home on his vacation as there will be scores of chores to do with his five offsprings. I'm sure the boys will be up and about by the time you read this. Carolling The Girl Scouts Troop 88 sang Christmas carols for the benefit of the patients at the McHenry H o s p i t a l . T h e i r mothers were their guesls following the carolling. Headed for Vietnam Wally Blaha of DePlaines, stationed at Ft. Cambell, Ky., paid us a visit. He is on an 8 day leave and then back to camp to pack for that trip to VietNam. He won't have much difficulty as he is an expert hunter. To prove it in honor of Ed's co-worker's who numbered sixteen. Betty prepared a buffet luncheon that consisted of every thing from soup to nuts. He regrets leaving Kentucky and all the pretty girls. My Son and his wife, Jeanie, attended a Christmas party which was given by his place of employment. They enjoyed a big feast along with dancing, bowling and entertainment. Scouts Last Thursday the Cub Scouts Den 1 went Christmas carolling at the Villa Nursing home to cheer up the elderly folks. Friday the 4 Her's of Johnsburg Clovers which numbered 24 sang Christmas carols for the patients at the McHenry hospital. Both the Scouts and the 4- Her's were luncheon guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Obstfelder after their per- Chrlstmas Reunion Dianne Hoffman tells me this was the first time in five vears the entire family spent Christmas together. Her parents from Seattle, Wash, brother and family from Syracuse, N. Y., and brothers and sisters from near by all flocked together for a joyous Christmas. Orchids I received several calls concerning our fabulous Christmas party that Mayor Phill Mangold gave for our tots. It will be long remembered. Whispering Hills Louise Giel Loraine Rosier was jadmitted to the St. Luke's hospital in Chicago for heart surgery but luckily it was postponed. Pack Christmas Party The Cub Scout pack Christmas party was held at the Ranch House on Thursday, Dec. 16. Following the opening ceremony, the following parents were welcomed into the pack: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Minter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krueger, Mr. and Mrs. Mose, Mr. and Mrs. William Exline, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Breede, bowling wi^ one of the neighbors, Casey Zelous. Incidentally Casey won't be bowling for quite a spell as he injured his ankle. Recovery from Accident Received word that-Mr. and Mrs. G. Rungs will be home from the hospital for Christmas. They were involved in an auto accident a few weeks ?o which resulted in some injuries. and Mr. and Mrs. Jack White. After the awards the parents viewed a village which was made by the boys complete with houses, figures and even an ice pond. The boys from Den No. 2 presented the skit 'The Night before Christmas' and the parents sang Christmas carols. Christmas gifts for the parents were made by the boys and Den No. 1 giving keyholders. Den No. 2 Hors d'oeuvres holders, and Den No. 3 Magazine racks. The boys exchanged gifts and the pack gave each boy a space derby kit, which will be used for the rocket space derby next year. Refreshments were served by Den No. l. There will be no den meetings during the holiday. T he next meeting for dens 1 and 2 will be Thursday, Jan. 6, and Den 3 will meet on Monday, Jan. 10. Carolers Christmas Party The Girl Scouts and Brownies finished their evening of carolling with their Christmas Christmas Mr. and Mrs. Barner had dinner with their son and his family in Park Ridge and Christmas night they stopped off at Round Lake to visit some of their relatives. This is the time for us to pray for peace on earth and good will toward men. This brings me to the close for the week so I wish you peace and happiness and every joy for the New Year.
