BALLOWE St. Mary's Catholic church was the setting for a lovely wedding ceremony last Saturday, Feb. 12, when Miss Sandra Carole Wetzel became the bride of Mr. Thomas F. Ballowe. Miss Wetzel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Wetzel of 615 S. McHenry avenue, McHenry, and Mr. Ballowe is the son of Mrs. Cecil Ballowe of 1716 Riverside drive, McHenry. Rev. Fr. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the 2:30 o'clock nuptial rite, for which the children's choir sang. The altar was decorated with bouquets of white glads, mums and red and white carnations. Pretty Miss Wetzel approached the altar wearing a floor length gown of dulcette satin, bell shaped, with sculptured bodice, long, tapered sleeves and an overlay bodice of chantilly lace. The skirt was trimmed with chantilly lace aj>- plique of seed pearls and crystal matching the trim on the detachable train, and held at the waist with a satin bow. An elbow length mantilla of silk illusion, bordered in chantilly lace, with blusher veil, was held in place by a satin pillbox. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gladioli and stephanotis with a white orchid in the center. Attending the bride were Isabelle Wolf of McHenry as maid of honor, Judith Makovvski of Chicago, Janet Murray, Terri Ballowe, sister of the groom, and Patricia Simonsen of McHenry as bridesmaids. They were attired similarly in floor length gowns with red velvet bodice styled with scoop neck and long sleeves, and a w h i t e b r o c a d e s k i r t . T h e i r headpieces were of red velvet bows and matching net veils. Each carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and white carnations. The pretty little flower girl, Kerri Wetzel of Palatine, cousin of the bride, wore the same kind of dress and threw rose petals along the aisle. Timothy Ballowe, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., served his brother as best man and groomsmen were Michael Wetzel of McHenry, brother of the bride, Dennis Welter and Ted Frett of McHenry and Anthony Espey of Aurora. Young Timothy Wetzel. brother of the bride, was the ring bearer. Mrs. Wetzel selected a pink, silk shantung suit with which she wore a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Ballowe was attired in a blue suit of brocade and had a similar corsage. A reception followed the wedding at 6 o'clock at the V.F.W. clubhouse, after which the couple left on a two-week trip to Florida. They will make their home at :',S1G W. Main street, McHenry. The new Mrs. Ballowe, a 19G5 graduate of McHenry high school, is employed as secretary- bookkeeper for Althoff's Plumbing and Heating, McHenry. The bridegroom, who graduated in T9G1 from McHenry high school, attended Marquette university for two years and served two years in the U.S. Marine corps. Walter Anderson of 511 N. Green street, McHenry, became the bride of Mr. Richard J. Smith. Jr., of 209 E. Main street, Morris, 111., son of Mr. and Mi's. Richard J. Smith, Sr., of 3703 W. Maple street, McHenry. The couple exchanged nuptial vows in St. Mary's Catholic church at noon 'last Saturday, Feb. 12. Rev. Fr. Matthew Rudden officiated at the ceremony, for which the children's choir sang to the organ accompaniment of Sister Andreella. Altar bouquets were of white gladioli and^ red carnations. Rev. Fr. H. V. McGinn, Chaplain of the Newman Center at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, was present on the altar. Given in marriage by her father, the blonde bride approached the altar for the double ring ceremony, charming in a full length bell gown of ivory satin fashioned with bateau neckline and long, pointed sleeves. Re-embroidered alencon lace and sequin and seed pearl motifs trimmed the bodice, skirt and sumptuous chapel train. A flat, self fabric .bow graced the waist back. A Dior bow of ivory satin held in place her illusion veil and she carried a cascade bouquet of phalaenopsis and stephanotis. Attending Miss Anderson as maid of honor was Miss Cheryl Vacula of Wonder Lake, a close friend. Bridesmaids were Miss Marrilou Smith and Mrs. Kathleen Sehultz of McHenry, sisters of the groom, and Mrs. Louise Tonyan Militello of Des- Plaines, a friend of the bride. All were attired similarly >in primrose pink crepe, semi-empire styled floor length gowns. Carrying out the Valentine motif, the attendants carried heart-shaped bouquets of white carnations ad garnet roses. Her husband graduated from the Illinois Institute of Tech- Junior Girl Foresters Give Books To Library RECORD DANCE OF YMC A SET . . \| FRIDAY NIGHT ( The February record dance conducted by the Lake Region ( YMCA for seventh and eighth grade boys and girls will be held on Friday, Feb. 18. Featured at the 7 to 10 p.m. dance will be two folk singers and a live combo. Soft drinks will be served. The gymnasium of Central school on Paddock street in Crystal Lake will be the site of the monthly record dance. Earlier record dances were |! conducted in October, November, December and January. From 150 to 260 ( youths have been attending the dances. Any seventh and eighth grade student in Algonquin, Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox River , Grove, Huntley, Island Lake, McHenry and Woodstock are welcome to attend the dance. The admission for Lake Region YMCA members is free. Nonmembers are required to pay a small admission unless they have previously registered for all the dances. Special guests of the evening were the mothers of members, librarians from McHenry library. Bonnie Buss, president, on behalf of the Girl Junior Foresters. presented autographed copies of Art inkletter's books, "Kids Say The Darndest Things" and "A Child's Garden of Misinformation", to Mrs. Stuart, representative from the library. Mary Rodenkirch, publicity chairni in, is presenting the autographed copies of each book to the nuns of parochial schools as they could not attend due to previous commitments. The evening's program included dance numbers from the recent "Alice in Wonderland" recital, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. Bonnie Buss read a short "|K>em especially dedicated to the mothers. Miss Buss, assisted by other junior officers, Debbie Shannon, Peg- !ry Stilling and Mary Rodenkirch, conducted a game for the mothers only, "What's Hidden In a Purse" and awarded prizes to wir.iers. A special tribute was paid to nology in 1964 with a degree in electrical engineering and is now employed as an engineer for the Commonwealth Edison company at the Dresden Nuclear Power station in Morris. Bon Voyage Party Honors Lee Amour Lee Amour was guest of honat a bon voyage surprise party at his home in Island Lake Saturday, Feb. 12. Lee entered the Navy on Valentine's Day and will undergo boot training at Great Lakes. He hopes to be accepted in the field of electronics. His brother, Ron, who is attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering, was home for the weekend. Both young men are graduates of McHenry high school, Lee in 1963 and Roni in 1965.
