RUG, CARPET & FURNITURE CLEANING Do you have some chicken or turkey (cooked) in your refrigerator or Geezer? If you do, try it this way. Defrost just enough to be used at one time since poultry, especially, should never be frozen again or reheated a second time. This recipe was an improvised "thing" one day when I had invited two for lunch and had to feed six. I used about 4 cups of meat. It's a sort of chicken or turkey A-la-king. Remove skin and all bones and dice meat into one-inch cubes. If too fine, it dissolves into strings. After doing this, cut up one medium onion and add 1 cup of celery cut into Ms inch pieces. Saute in butter til tender. Cut up one or two red potatoes into 1 inch cubes and cook to a firm consistency. Cook a package of mixed vegetables frozen in butter sauce about five minutes less than time given on package. Grate American cheese enough to make % cup. In large • frying pan place contents of one can of cond e n s e d c r e a m o f v e g e t a b l e soup. Add two cups of milk and heat, slowly stirring frequently. Suggest having another can on hand if you desire thicker sauce. Prefer the vegetable soup ^to mushroom - it enhances the vegetable flavors. Add rest of ingredients and season. Suggest tasting before salting since most of the food has already been salted. For more color you may like to add either one teaspoon pimentos or a tablespoon of pieces green pepper sauted with onions and celery. Heat very slowly and stir gently. About 1 minute before serving add the grated cheese. Serve piping hot in an attractive casserole. Baking powder biscuits (made from mix) "go with" very nicely. May be prepared when entree is heated. Better make 12 biscuits for 6 people. Hope you try it and like it. Most of the preparation may be done slightly in advance but do not add to sauce until ready to heat and eat.
