There were five counties represented at this gala affair. A national foundation played a big part as donors of the delicious dinner. The diners were serenaded by, the Larkin high school chorus. The theme song was Parents Roll In 4-H. SURGERY Our dear neighbor Millie Mondl is convalescing in the Evanston hospital after undergoirig spinal surgery as a result of a tumor. Before leaving the hospital she \yill have intensive care which takes in therapeutic treatments and various types of exercises to build up her strength for future needs. Her homecoming is indefinite at this time, but time heals all wounds so hubby and son, Danny, will welcome the day when she is able to come home. We all join in wishing a speedy recovery. ATTENDED DINNER Mr,, and Mrs. Pflug and Buddy attended the BlQe and Gold dinner at the Marian high last week. Little Buddy received the Wolfe badge of which he was mighty proud. The Kennebecks also attended the dinner which * they enjoyed very much. KNITTING AWAY Mrs. Valaski tells me she is knitting socks for her many friends and her children in the city. Since she lost her husband last year she has been very lonely so she trios to keep busy as much as possible. Her sons come from the city to do all the outside chores as she is unable to do them. She will be celebrating her seventieth birthday next month. SKI RESORT . When you all have nothing to do take a drive up to the ski resort which is only a few miles from Sunriyside. My friend Elsie and I did just that last week. It was a big thrill for me as I've never seen the likes of it before. I was tempted to go to the top of that snow covered hill. PARTY The Metzgers, Joe, Liz, Maria, Johny and Paul, and Aunt Helen Harrer from Waukcgan joined in a big sixteenth birthday party in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Bauer's beautiful daughter, Betty, of Milwaukee. VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Mangold's daughter from Deerfield came out for a visit with the family. Her husband' was away on BERN (CE WILSON 885-4S80 Zeim«f§ Enjoy Florida Trip Julie and Matt decided to get away from all our cold and snow and took off for Florida. On the way down they ran into a blizzard in Georgia and during the entire day were only able to make 200 miles at 15 miles per hour. It was difficult to see the car in front of yours and they have no snow plows down there as snow is not a problem to them. They arrived at Venice on Sunday and stayed at the home of Matt's sister, Margaret Maloney, for four days then went on to Miami visiting friends there, then to the 'Keys' where they spent the night. They took a tour of the Island and visited various hobby shops then back to Naples for one night. The next day a trip to Cape Coral «nd the rose gardens and museums was enjoyed. The weather was cold and it started to warm up the last few days they were there so they didn't find Florida at its best. The trip back was smooth and they got to the Shores to find that while they were gone all our snow had melted away and home looked pretty gOod to them. WEDDING The Obstfelder family attended a wedding of their cousin who resides in Janesville, Wis. They had the pleasure to bring some of the participants home with them for a visit. SCHOOL PLAY Richard Frederick, Jr, who is a student at Marian high tried out tor "Camelot" which will be played early in the spring. Who knows? We n^iay have a future actor in ouv midst. SURGERY Stevie WiMiams was dismissed from McHenry hospital and will be home for a few days awaiting the admittance to the Michael Reese hospital in Chicago, where he will undergo surgery for a kidney blockage. Last week he was rushed to the McHenry hospital after a fall which caused a hemorrhage. We are all hoping he will be back home soon for keeps. POLICE CAR Now our Sunnysiders can sit back and relax because our police car finally arrived and is on the go. STICKERS I want to remind our good people about the dog license and vehicle stickers which are due by March 1. It doesn't pay to wait so I urge you to get them as soon as possible. He is getting along fine and I'm sure he will be home by the time this is published. Ruth Smith is still in the hospital and coming along fine and we hope she will be home soon.
