Q On St. Valentine's day, the McHenry Woman's club sponsored- a party for the residents of the Valley-Hi Rest home in Hartland. Valentine's day is a day for gifts, so twelve of the club's members lpft the Camrniuniity Methodist church, their cars laden with gifts in gay wrappings, and a wide assortment of homebaked cup cakes which were served with ice cream. They took wall decorations to carry out the Valentine theme and lend a festive note, along with Valentines to present to each resident. Among those arriving at the home at 1 o'clock were Mrs. Richard Anderson, Mrs. Nels Boiin, Mrs. Frank Blake, Mrs. Hugh Fanning, Mrs. Donald Gerlitz, Mrs. William Givens, Mrs. D. A. Hoptfear, Mrs. Paul Jessup, Mrs. William Jordan, Mrs. Daniel Knapp, Mrs. Carl R i e t e s e l and M r s . R o b e r t Thompson. Following the refreshment hour, the residents played games and there were prizes for everyone. In addition, the oldest, as well as the youngest sGfjior citizen was gifted with a corsage and a boutonniere. It was a most pleasant afternoon for all. A guided tour of tihe home was also included and club members wpg enthusiastic in their praise df this fine institution, under t&e capable guidance of its administrator, Howard Nehlig. ^Club members in attendance felt that it was a very gratifying and rewarding experience -- qp occasion that tugged at everyone's heart a little -- and they are eager ito do it again ip the near future. Illinois HOMEMAKERS PLAN TOUR OF FLOWER SHOW "America, the Beautiful" is the theme of the 1966 Chicago World Flower and Garden show. McHenry County's Homemakers Extension association is arranging a tour to this show at McCormick Place Wednesday and Thursday, March 23 and 24. The theme was chosen to e m p hasize the "Beautify dent Johnson. A letter from America" program of Presithe 5j£hite House has praised the show committee for its theme. The tour of this world's largest annual indoor flower show is oper> to the public, flosses will leave from central locations between 8:30 and 9:45 a.m. sharp both days. Timothy lane, McHenry, is serving this year as chairman of the ladies' entertain ment committee for the Illinois Petroleum Marketers association convention, to be held at the Pick-Congress hotel, Chicago. She has finalized her plans for the ladies' luncheon to be held at noon on March 16. This convention is made up of all petroleum jobbers in the state of Illinois, and is the largest jobbers' convention in the United States. Registrations will excecd 1,500.
