Sandwiches in the pink and blue theme, cake, punch and coffee were served to the guests who were Phyllis Ackerman, Marion Winters, Lor Brennan, Jo Ann Bruce, Wanda Bruce, Bonnie Tonyan, Mary Spencer, Slisain Beaman, Martha Beaman, Marilym Beaman, Harriet Halcom, Dannete Mahony, K.ae Peterson, Mary Jones, Pat Adams, Nadine Beaman, &H.COejersten and Helen Barker. Loom Trip 'Mrs. Richardson and her fifth and sixth graders strolled up to Doris Low's home a week , ago on Wednesday to see a large loom in action. The youngsters had been studying up on different types of looms SOT weavings c-f all kinds. £)oris has been making lovely rugs on her loom for several years now, and gave a demonstration to the youngsters, who thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Ringwood Boys Finish 2nd , The boys from the Ringwood Methodist church finished second in the Lake Region YMCA church^basketball league, with s$x wins and only two lossAs. These boys did exceptionally well for themselves and are to be congratulated. The team consisted of Tom? Walkington, Alan Spencer, Terry and Larry Harvey, Leon Van Every, Sam Koffski, Rocky Eide, Ron Kolk and Jim Colandren. They were ably coached by Arnold Harvey, who gave his time and effort to help these boys to victory. Nice going, boys and coach! On Honor Roll at MCHS Elsewhere in last week's Plaindealer was the list of the students at McHenry high who were named to the honor roll. Ringwood was represented with the following on the list, Bob Brennan was on the "A" honor roll again; on the "B" plus, Ken Etten and Sue Hogan took honors once again, along with Trudy Oonk. On the "B", it was Candy Fossum. That's a pretty good showing for our town. Nice going, kids, and keep up the good grades. We're sincerely proud of each and every one of you. Lunch Servers Servers for hot sandwiches on March 23 will be Bobbi Fossum and Doris Low. Doris and Mary Baker will be on for March 30. Special thanks to Mrs. Hepner for so willingly volunteering last week. She subbed at the last minute when one of the servers was unable to HOLIIAY HILLS NEWS INEZ YOUM© 885-4678 VIABBINK NEW PRESIDENT OF WOMAN'S CLUB The recent letter sent out to all the women in the subdivision about the Woman's Club brought about very gratifying results. At last week's meeting held on Wednesday, March 9, there were many more present, as compared to the handfull that attended the last-two meetings. Election of officers was held With the following -results: President, Vi Abbink; Vice- President, Helen Boettcher; Treasurer, Mickey Walters; Secretary, Joan Schroeder, and recreation, Dot Gabriel. Orchids to the officers of last year who served the club so well, Gerry Breede, president, Vi-Abbink and Charis Ary, vice President, Treasurer, Gerri Postal, Secretary Kay Ryan, and recreation, Dot -Gabriel. Business for the evening included a number of changes in membership dues and reinstatement and back dues policies. In fact there was so much business taken care of that the gals didn't even find time to •play their favorite garrte of fdblgrs bingo, where each one brings a white elephafft as a prize. However, this will be played next month. Corsages were presented to Gerry Breede, outgoing president, and Vi Abbink, incoming president. Hostesses who served', refreshments for the evening were Evelyn Konecny, Jimmie Justes and Gloria Smith. Annual Banquet The annual officers banquet of the Holiday Hills Women's £lub, with all the women in the subdivision invited, has b£en set for sometime in May. It will be held at the same country club that it was held last year. Dinner and a stage play will be featured, with reservations to be made with the committee as follows: Mickey Walters, Helen Boettcher and Joan Schroeder. Swimming Committee Credit for swimming lessons to be held at our lake beach again this summer goes : to none other than the Women's crab. A committee consisting of Vi Abbink, Helen Boettcher and Mary Mahon has volunteered to take care of the details which include obtaining an instructor, working out a schedule, compiling lists of names and classes and working out a schedule of duty, figuring non profit costs, recruiting volufit£< jr teenagers to help--to name just a part of the responsibilities. Let's give these gals all the cooperation possible. They're working to see | that every youngster has the opportunity to learn to enjoy ' and at the same time respect the. water. Get-Well Wishes Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Dick Bemis who had a slight, setback following his ulcer operation -also to Mickey . Waiters coming along just fine following her surgery. To those who have inquired about my dad, who is in St. Lukes Presbyterian hospital for a corneal transplant. To date he is coming along just fine. Time will tell if it is a success or not. A special wish for the Boettcher boy who injured his eye recently. Missing on last week's list of helpers for our clean up day were Jim Harper's truck and Leon Kathan and his truck which was used to tow cars, logs, tree stumps, boulders, you name it, anything that couldn't be lifted by hand. There are a few ex-members of the M.Y.F. who are now away at college who are wondering what's going on. How about it? I would appreciate it so much if you could keep me informed of your events. Thanks in advance. • 'Natal Days Coming Up Susie Low. Erwin, now in Germany, will be celebrating her 'natal day on March 20. Little Christina Louise Korner will celebrate her first birthday on Tuesday, March 22. Birthday wishes to Loren Harrison, and Bud Winters who share the twenty-third. And Robin Fossum celebrates her birthday on the twenty-sixth. It's a Boy!! On Wedp€s3ay, March 9, Mr. and Mr?. John Lanway became the proud parents of their first son, and third child. Born at 8 a.m. in Sherman hospital in Elgin, he weighed in at 6 lbs. and will answer to the name of John Herbert H. Little John II was welcomed by his two sisters, Karen, in third grade and Lisa, at home. Jackie's mother has been pinch hitting at home during her absence. Congratulations to all. Here 'N' There I hear Linda Low has been accepted in one of the leading sororities at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. Congratulations to you, Linda. Donna Low and Leon Van Avery motored to Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday to visit with Linda Low at the university. Mrs. L. E. Hawley spent Fridays with her daughter, Mrs. Bill Reinwall, at MCHenry. Clarence Harrison was feted at a birthday supper held on March 5 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Harrison. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. C l a r e n c e H a r r i s o n , D a v i d , Gary and Crystal, Faith Wagner, Mrs. Mary Henne, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd DoweTI and son, Billy, Gary Harrison celebrated his birthday on March 15. Mrs. J. C. Pearson spent Saturday in Chicago. On Sunday, Mc. and Mrs. Andy Hawley of Fox River Grove called on Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hawley. Lee Merchant called on Mrs. Fred Wiedrich, Sr., on Wednesday. How about those Chicago Hawks? There's one fan, an avid one, right here in Ringwood, and is she ever happy right now. Right? G.B?? Church Activities George Kane of Ringwood senior high and four senior high people from Mt. Hope will go to Chicago for the Missionary tour to the Methodist Missions, Institutes and Projects, on Saturday March 19. Some of the ladies of Ringwood church will attend the "Day Apart" program at the M c H e n r y M e t h o d i s t c h u r c h Tuesday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone needing a ride please call Katie Christopher, 653-9195. The t r u s t e e s c o m m i t t e e meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the church, Wednesday evening March 23. Frank Harrison is chairman. Also the official board meets the same evening only at 8 p.m. at the church. Remember to clean your attic and basement this week-- why? Well the rummage sale is coming up Friday, March 25, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. round his home that remain on all night, for protection and safety. At one time Ringwood had many street lights, and now, outside of the township ones on the corners, is down to <just two; these being paid fpr by Brennan and Pearson. Otherwise, outside df a few of our residents who keep lights qh, or who do have sufficient driveway lighting, it's quite a dark little town. MORE RATINGS ANNOUNCED IN MUSIC CONTEST A number of Junior high musicians rated well in the recent district solo and ensemble contest held at Zion. In addition to the top rated winners listed last week, second division ratings went to Donna Raasch, oboe; Jim Lightner, clarinet; Diane Bensen, hass clarinet; Jean Guettler, alto sax; Ann Willis, tenor sax; Mark Borcovan, Larry Dresdow, David Watkins, cornet; and Paul Dethlefson, tuba. Rating the same for ensembles were two clarinet duets, one composed of Bonnie Repta and Ronnie Chappell and the other of Bonnie Whetherhult and Terry Roener; a clarinet quartet of Jim Lightner, Bill Sund, Luella Ficek and Jim Sobacki; two cornet duets, one of Jeff Thomas and George Shelton and the other of Paul Hirsch and Dirk Voorhees; a cornet and baritone duet, Marshall Leonard and Tim Van Fleet.
