We ask, too, that one individual not write on the same subject more than once each month. We reserve the right to delete any material which We consider Ubelous or in objectionable taste.) "Dear Editor; 4> "The time is coming when we will be voting for candidates who will carry our voice to government, state and local. Will we make a wise choice? "Now is the time to .study the candidates and the issues. Xow is the time to think. After June 14 it is too late! "Let us remember, if half of the voters stay away from the polls, the winning politician Will not be responsible to • any great force of public opinion, Those who vote in the election are not numerous enough to demand a high standard of conduct for the office holder to meet. Whose fault is it then, if we have poor government? The responsibility must fall upon the American people who tolerate it! The more interest we have, the better government we get! "Sincerely, "Connie M. Johnson" "FLAG DAY SALUTfe" Dear Editor; "The following is a quotation from an address by the late President Woodrow Wilson at a flag day celebration: 'This flag which we honor and under which we serve is the emblem of our unity, our power, our thought and purpose as a nation. It has no other character than that which we give it from generation to generation. "The choice is ours. It floats in majestic silence above the hosts that execute these choices .whether in peace or war. And yet, though silent, it speaks to us--speaks to us of the past. of the men and women who went before us, and of. the records they wrote upon it. " 'We celebrate the day of its birth, and from its birth until new it has witnessed a great history, has floated on high the symbol of great events, or a great plan of life worked out by a great people.' ^ "Freedom's dedication is a costly one. But it is worth the cost. This same spirit, this same dedication prevails no less on this Flag Day of 1966 as our servicemen fight halfja world away in South VietNam. We have expended our treasures ,in men and material to keep that flag aloft, to maintain the ideals that it stands for among Americans and among the people of the world. To some people, it is a retailer's own brand created with selling price first in importance and quality second. To us at A&P, it's the opposite.
