Lake Shore Drive. The blaze froke out in the garage, destroying it and the car that was larked within. The roof and the ides of the house were badly damaged. The Gabrysiak fam- §y was not home at the time. | Fashion Show I An "all-cotton" fashion show, featuring 196 fabrics and patterns for round-the-clock wear, will be pesented by the Past president's Club of Christ the King Parish Altar and Roary Sodality. It will take place on' $unday afternoon, June 19, 3 p.m. in the parish hall. \ The "Cavalcade of Cottons" Collections is a 'loan service offered to emphasize the versatility of home sewing. The fashions represent the season's trends in color, fabric and ^silhouette". Cottons and patterns are generally available at local department stores. Lake Shore Drive, has been appointed as'the area's chairman 'lor the 1966 Salvation Army's 'Doughnut (tag) Day. i Harriett will organize and direct the volunteer taggers to ^help raise funds for the social welfare services the Salvation £rmy offers to the needy and Stressed. jppughnut Day will make the concluding appeal in the Salvation Army's 1966 Operating Fund Campaign scheduled from May 16 through June 10. The tag day goal for the suburbs is $64,000. Volunteers are urgently needed to give up two or three hours of their time to help put a doughnut shaped tag in everyones' hand. Welcome Home All of Jim and Barbara La Greca's friends are happy to know that Jim and Barbara have returned to Wonder Lake. Jim, because of his job, had been transferred to Iowa, but Iowa is not like Wonder Lake; so Jim and Barb returned to their home at 3206 Eastwood Drive. Edward Cannon Stricken While the firemen were fighting the fire at 3307 E. Lake Shore Drive the Rescue Squad was called to the Edward Cannon residence, 3606 E. Lake Shore Drive, where Edward suffered a heart attack. Edward was removed to the hospital where he is doing well. Visitor Mrs. Josephine Wendt is enjoying the to week visit by her sister, Mrs. Schmidt, Springfield. Terry Miller is enjoying a week home from Whitewater College. He is spending the week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller. A most impressive ceremony was held at St. Peter's church Sunday morning, June 5, when the graduates received their diplomas at the 11:45 mass and all received communion together. Rev. John Kilduff, pastor, officiated at the ceremony. School ended June 3. The s.chool picnic was held at Wilmot State Piark on June 7. Summer School Session During this month Sister Evangeline will leave for other apostolic tasks. Sisters Mary Roselle, Rochelle and Brendan will be coming for the summer School session. The summer school of religion will extend from June 13 to June 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. NEW SALEM DRAMA A Lincolnland Drama estival including three plays will be presented this summer at Lincoln's New Salem State Park by Southern Illinois University Players, James W. McMillen, supervisor of state parks, said last week. The plays will be presented in Kelso Hollow July 26 through Aug. 21, with the exception of Mondays. "Prosented during the first three logue to Glory" will be preweeks. The premiere of "Lincoln at Springfield: November 1858" by Louis Catron of Springfield, will be given three evenings of the final week of the festival. hop in McHenry SPRING GROVE NEWS EVA FBETTND PHONE HM1» GRADUATES GIVEN DIPLOMAS AT SUNDAY MASS Graduation June 3 at Spring Grove School Graduation exercises were held at Spring Grove elementary school on Friday night, June 3. Those receiving diplomas were Stanley and Edward Gerretsen and Betsy Mac Diarmid. Observe Memorial Day The opening of Memorial Day services began with a parade led by the American Legion color guard and firing squad followed by the Richmond- Burton high school band who furnished the music. Also marching were the Boy Scouts, the Cub Scouts and the firemen. Rev. John Kilduff geve the address. Taps was sounded by Charles Schultz, answering echo by Nancy Gunderson. A wreath was placed on the memorial stone and a salute was fied by the American Legion firing squad. , * Longtime Resident Dies We were sorry to hear of the death of Clara Furlott who passed away in a Chicago hospital on Saturday, May 21. Funeral services and interment were in Chicago. Visit Mrs. Roy Haneline of Monticello (the former Margaret Clerk) visited in the Charles Freund home last Saturday. In the evening dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dunham of Woodstock and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Freund of McHenry. Attend Confirmation Mr. and Mrs. John Sanborn attended the Communion and Confirmation of their grandson, David Sqhulze, son of Mr and Mrs. Clifford Schulze, in Chicago last Sunday. A reception for some forty guests was held in the Schulze home following the ceremonies. Meeting Christian Mother meeting will be held in St. Peter's hall on Thursday evening, June 16, at 7 o'clock. A pot-luck dinner will b^> served. Seminarian Graduates Having completed four years Students Home Some of the college students who are home for summer vacation are Jim May, William, Robert and Jim Lay, Ken Kappie and David Kagan. Home From Service Ed Jessie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jessie, who has spent the past two years in Viet Nam, has received his discharge from the U. S. Army and is home with his parents. Wesley Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith is back home again having been discharged from the U. S. Hi., will be the site of the ^Second-annual Midwest Music' Festival on Saturday, June 11. Sponsored by the Plainfield Band boosters, the program will present several hundred young musicians from the northern Illinois area and adjoining states competing in concert, field maneuvers, and inspection. Th'ey will be evaluated according to rigid rules and high standards. * The afternoon show will start at' 2:30 p.m. in the Plainfielcl high school gymnasium and will present the bands in concert competition. The evening show will start at 7 p.m. in the Plainfield high school stadium.
