Couple Plan Fall Wedding PATRICIA GRABOVY Mr. and Mrs. Clemence Grabovy announce the engagement of their daughter, Patricia «Ann, to Leonard J. Winkeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Winkeler of Bartelso, 111. Miss Grabovy is a 1964 graduate of M.C.H.S. and is now a sophomore at Southern Illinois university, majoring in education. Mr. Winkeler is a graduate of St. Mary's in Techny, 111., and is a senior at Southern Illinois university, jmajoring in financial management. A fall wedding is planned. WINS AWARD Catherine (Kit) Ruth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aubert C. Ruth, 1121 West River Terrace drive, was presented the Cedarh o l m M e m o r i a l a w a r d f o r achievement in music at an honors assembly held June 4 at Cottey College, Nevada, Mo., where she has completed her freshman year. Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Konecny of 1516 W. Catalpa drive, McHenry, announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Kathleen, to Pvt. Ronald E. Zank. The wedding will take place July. 2 at 1 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, McHenry. Honors Night At Marian High Honors Night at Marian high school was held last Friday evening, at which time several local students received special recognition. Among those specially honored on the program were Pat-, ricia Foran, treEtsu{:er of the senior class; Gary Justen Anderson, who received the outstanding citizen award; Gary Anderson, Kathryn Boone, Patricia Foran, Charlene Klapperich, Rita Mikosz, David Palmer, Raymond Pollock and Jane Weber, Marian Fathers club awards. Raymond Pollock, Moose club four-year perfect attendance award. Others recognized for scholarship were Gary Anderson, Parks college; Kathryn Boone, Northern Illinois university; G e o r g e a n H a z e , M c H e n r y School of Beauty Cultyre; and Mary Weyland, Aquinas col' lege. Marian Central awards went to Raymond Pollock, Bausch and Lomb in Physics; Gary Anderson, third place in Science Fair ,awards: David Palmer and Raymond Pollock, achievement certificate of superior merit; Gary Anderson, National High School mathematics contest test; Bernadette Schneider, business skills; and Mary Sweeney, typing efficiency. Richard Keller To Claim Bride In August KARLA SCHOENEWE Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Schoenewe of Everly, Iowa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Karla Kay, to Richard P. Keller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul L. Keller of 218 N. Country Club drive. Karla has been a Science instructor in the Elmhurst schools this past year and Richard is employed locally as a pharmacist. Both are graduates of Drake university in DesMoines, la. An August 6 wedding is being planned. Cynthia Tomasello Honored At Shower Miss Cynthia Tomasello, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Tomasello, was guest of honor at a bridal shower supper held in Chicago. The fifty-five friends and relatives from Chicago, Park Ridge, River Forest, as well as from McHenry, were hosted by Mrs. Gloria Montell, the bride-tobe's godmother. Miss Tomasello's fiance, Michael Haley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Haley of Chicago, will be graduated from Loyola University June 12. The couple is planning an August 20 wedding. Green 383-1712 McHenry NEW 'TAPER BAG PLAYERS" FORMED AT OPERA HOUSE "Paper Bag Players" is the name given to a new and completely mobile troupe of actors to be established at the Woodstock Opera House this summer. All costumes and scenery will be made out of anything paper - paper bags and cartons. The children, open to those in grades 4 through 8. will perform stories they have written or will interpret a story form, like a fairy tale, b yimproiMzing the story directly on the stage. The troupe of actors, under the direction of Esther Stewart, executive director of the Woodstock Fine Arts association, will perform their plays at summer playgrounds and camps throughout the county. Registration is June 13, or anytime before, at the Opera House, with a nominal fee to be charged. Children will also enroll in either basic art, drama or choral singing classes and will learn the basics of the theatre under Mrs. Stewart's guidance. The McHenry Woman's Club- has been asked to sponsor this event in the McHenry area. Attend District Meeting A meeting of the Eleventh District of the Illiinois Federation of Women's Clubs was held at Baker Community Hall in St. Charles on Thursday, June 2. In attendance from the McHenry Woman's Club were Mrs. Hugh Fanning, chairman of International Affairs, Mrs. D. A. Hopfear, Fine Arts chairman, Mrs. George Kleinhans, chairman of the Education division, Mrs. Hugh G. Locker, president, Mrs. George Spinfller, Home Life chairman, and' Mrs. G. T. Snively chairman of the Conservation division. Mrs. William R. Jones, president of the Eleventh District, presided at the meeting. An error of omission was inadvertently made in the publicity which followed the spring luncheon at The Country Squire on May 11 inasmuch as Mrs. Gene Dobyns was also welcomed into the club as a new member at that time. Anderson, former resident and 1962 graduate of McHenry high school, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College, Ripon, Wis., in the field of Economics. The graduation ceremony, on May 22, was attended by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence E. Anderson, and his sister, Jean, who are presently living in Detroit, Mich. Bill. will attend the Wharton School of Finance, Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in the fall, where he will work towards a Master's Degree. He is currently employed at the University of Pennsylvania. Honor Graduates At Stilling Home Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stilling entertained at a graduation party in honor of their daughter, Mary Ann, and son, Peter. Mary > Ann graduated from Marian Central high school, Woodstock, and Peter finished Jris grade school education at St. Patrick's, McHenry. Thirty-five relatives a n d friends gathered at the Stilling home Sunday night and were served a delicious buffet lunch. THOMAS WISER GRADUATES AS ENGLISH MAJOR Thomas James Wiser, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Wiser, of Volo, will be graduated from Illinois State University, Normal on June 11. Tom is an English major with a minor in Library science. During college, he was active in various social and professional organizations such as class advisory board and the Honorary English and Library fraternities. This fall, Tom will be assistant director of libraries and reading consultant at Tinley Park high school which is located in South Suburban Chicago." Tom will attend Wisconsin State University at Superior, Wis., leaving Saturday, June 11, to start the summer session. Pat and her sister, Mary, who is also an aspirant at Mount St. Francis, returned home for their summer vacation.
