Men and equipmentibegan at 7 a.m. with thtf limiting,., oiling, and laying the pea gravel coating in three separate layers. Road c o m m i s s i o n e r H a r r y Lock was on the job in his supervisory capacity. The first layer of oiling was ^one Friday afternoon and ideal weather conditions-high temperatures, hot sun, and no rain--allowed the oil to penetrate the road bed and provide a jnore effective seal. jV/ith an immense sigh of relief, we welcome the completion of the job and now start praying that drivers will obey the 20 M.P.H. posted limit 01$ the road! Many children litfe in homes along the road and use it for transportation to their favorite haunts. Please co-operate!! Ed Crick and companions, Shorty Miller, Bob Hendrichs and George Brda of McHenry, drove some 750 miles of their proposed fishing trip to Canada and stopped in Vermillion Bay, Ontario, to have some chow. Imagine their stunned surprise and glee when they looked up and discovered five fellows from Johnsburg!! The other group was headed by Dick Hiller and four companions. Neither group was aware of the plans of the other group and it was just one of those exciting coincidences, which proves the theory of our ca•p, tion. <0. '.'Amazing Grace" by Robert Drake That special world el growing up - so easy to remember but so difficult to recapture • has been caught, held and enski are wed 26 years, and happy birthday to Evie Haines, June 29. Best wishes to all the gala events this week. Out of time and out of thought. See you next week? riched in Robert Drake's collection of stories of growing up in a small southern town. Although the setting and characters are essentially the same throughout, "Amazing Grace" has a unity not often found in such a remembrance of things past. In this sense it becomes a novel. Read in consecutive order, the stories might be seen as constituting a sort of autobiography, since the narrator bears the author's own name, but each story may be read independently of the others and the coincidence of names is essentially a dramatic device. They are about birth, life, death, courtship, marriage, love, going to school, family picnics and church socials, the world young Robert can see from his own particular point of vision. September Nuptials For Lovely Young Lady A lovely time for a wedding is September and the starring role will be held by a lovely young miss -- Cathy Murray, the daughter of Chief and Mrs. Earl Murray of 5200 Maple Hill Drive. She will exchange vows with Mr. Anton R. Cajthaml, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cajtheml, 1511 Sunnyside Drive, McHenry, on Saturday, Sept. 3, in Faith Presbyterian church, McHenry. Cathy graduated from Mc Henry high school last year and is employed as a secretary in Johnsburg. Her fiance graduated from McHenry high, class of '64, and is employed in McHenry. May we offer our sincere best wishes as the two families prepare for the big event. Being a thoughtful husband, he broke the seal on one deck and looked up in consternation when two deuces of spades appeared! A count of the deck revealed 58! cards in all with a repitition of ace, deuce, trey, four, five and six--in spades. He solved the problem by tearing up the extras and has a standard deck once more. Now, if the mar-; tinis are "wet", we'll really be in trouble!
