According to Ray Lary, Bill Gleeson and Ken. Betts, there will be activities for all age groups. The ihree. officers of the Cullom-Knoll Association, are serving on a committee sponsoring the event. They have planned for public games, dancing, and swimming. Many of the events will carry prizes for the winners. Refreshments will be available on the grounds such as hot dogs, pop, and beer. Funds realized from the enterprise will go to the building fund to enlarge the present facilities. Hie 4th of July activities are Only a forerunner for the really big summer event which is the annual festival. Again this year, Hie festival will sponsor a buggy promenade, bike parade, and the choosing of Miss Mc- Cullom Lake and will be held Saturday, July 30. Holes From The Village Board At the last meeting of the president and trustees, Monday, June 20 Art Nelson and Rich Johnson were absent. According to road commisirioner Harry Lock, a rough draft of the west end storm sewer project is in the hands of the state for proper approval. When approval is granted, the draft will be turned over to Baxter and Woodman, village engineers who will draw up specifications and let them out for bids. With Spring Road completed, Mr. Lock says necessary patching either has already, or will be completed in the near future. Speed limit signs of 20 M.P.H. as requested by the p o l i c e d e p a r t m e n t , w i l l be placed in strategic places. The building and zoning action report from Aug. 29, 1965 to date was read by commissioner Roger Kinsey. A garbage and refuse violation will be investigated by John Boyle, head of the health and welfare committee. Ordinance No. 71 pertaining to unlicensed or abandoned vehicles on private property was passed unanimously. Violation of this ordinance carries a $1 to $500 fine for each offense and becomes effective about July 11. Since the next regular meeting falls on July 4 it will be held the first legal working day which is Tuesday, July 5, at 8 p.m. in the beach-house. The public is invited. the birth of their first child. Brian Atwood Sawdo was born June 17 at 2:39 a.m. and weighed in at 8 lbs., 13 o/.., at St. Margaret hospital, Hammond, Ind. The maternal grandparents are Mr. and' Mrs. Leonard Blomgren of Columbus, Ohio. In honor of the occasion, Lil and Lee were presented with an original poem composed by next door neighbor and dear friend, Mrs. Ruth Radtke. It follows: "Congratulations, Lil and L e e , W e l c o m e t o t h e ^"gi'and society." Life leads you through another door, To where you've ne'er explored before. V Tragic Accident To Kin Shirley and Bill Stokes left hurriedly Friday morning for a trip to Metropolis, 111., after learning that Bill's mother was in her home when a gas explosion occurred. They only knew she was badly hurt and confined to the hospital near by. Shirley was planning on staying a week to lend her assistance. No other details were available on Monday morning. Fort Knox, Ky. where he is stationed. They will honeymoon in this area, so Glenn can acquaint his new wife with his home and friends. We wish them fortune and happiness as they begin their married life Welcome First Grandson , Lil and Lee Sawdo became grandparents for the very first time when their son, Kenneth and his wife, Susan, welcomed Surprise Furlough For Army SOB Although she had been called from O'Hare airport when he first arrived, Alice Cable was unable to notify George, Sr., that young son. Bill, was home on furlough and the young man was able to walk in as a complete surprise, June 14. Bill who is an SP4. came home from Verdun, France, and will return there July 9. j v-^ The handsome young man who enlisted in the regular Army after graduating from McHenry high school--'64, began active duty Jan. 25, 1965. He is about half through his three year enlistment. He recently completed three months of schooling in electronic equipment and will' return to this line of work. He has made good use of his time, revisiting old haunts and looking up old buddies. Prolonged Travail Dorothy and John Cunningham were about to "throw in the towel" after a Ions; siege of illness for their children. Wendy recovered from having her tonsils out, just in time for young John to come down with scarlet fever. While he was still ailing, Cindy broke out in a serious rash which required medical attention. Again, young John had just recovered from his bout of fever when he was in the yard " playing, fell off a bucket and broke two bones in his wrist! This happened Wednesday afternoon, a week ago, minutes after his mother had "shagged" him out of a tree because she was fearful of an accident! As of Monday morning, all was serene at the Cunningham household and we sure hope it continues this way.
