RG NEWS BETTY BETKRMANN 385-1200 Sodality Plans H@ly Officers and members of the Blessed Virgin sodality plan to take a bus to Holy Hill on July 14. Space will be limited so the first thirty-seven members to call in their reservations will be the ones to go. You can call either Sarah Oeffling at 385-1971, or Eva Schaefer at 385-2560. Reservations should be made on or before July 11. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. sharp from in front of St. John's school. Please call now so you won't be one of those ladies that will be left behind because of the limited space. One thing to keep in mindthere will be no regular meeting for the sodality in July. On The Mend We are sorry to hear Mrs. Delia Miller was admitted as a patient in the McHenry hospital recently. We all join in hoping the next news we hear of her will be that she is well on the road to recovery. G o o d n e w s f r o m t h e M c Henry hospital in reference to Richard Dehn who was admitted last Wednesday afternoon. He underwent knee surgery on Thursday morning and from all indications, it was most successful. His family is anxiously awaiting his return home. Prior to his surgery, Rich was informed that a former resident of Johnsburg, Mrs. Eleanor Mangold, was undergoing the same operation on the same morning. Now the two can put their knees together and compare scars. Vacationing Folks The Don Wolf of Jak-Ana Heights and the Tom Cahill family of Dutch Creek Woodlands returned last week from a most enjoyable camping trip. The two families joined forces and made a trip to Kentucky where a wonderful week of fun was spent. They related that the days were very hot but the nights were cool. The campsite where they spent the week had just about anything a family could want. Tom and Darlene Huemann and their four youngsters planned to spend the long holiday weekend at her parents' cabin near Portage. Wis. D-ir's entire family planned this gettogether and are all hoping none of the children get sick, or nothing comes up at the last minute to spoil their plans. Between the cabin and a camping trailer the Andreas family hopes to accommodate eleven youngsters and all the grownups. We certainly hope the weatherman can supply them with ideal conditions for all the outdoor activities the group hopes to indulge in. Cum in unity Club Meets .Don't forget all you members of the Johnsburg Com munity Club that the regular meeting will be held this Monday evening, July 11. It was postponed a week because of the Fourth of July holiday. All members are invited to participate at this time. July Celebrants In line for "Happy Birthday" wishes for this warm month of July is Peggy Peterson who will reach the very nice age fifteen on the eleventh. Sixteen candles will test Ricky Wakitsch's air when he goes to blow them out on his cake which will be ready for him on the twelfth. One of Peggy's best girlfriends (and vice versa) turns fifteen this month also. Joy Hettermann is her name. Sharing July 13 for natal day celebrations is Bill Martin ec. He will be on vacation from work so it should be most enjoyable. Happy, happy wishes td Catherine Dehn who has reason for merry-making on July 16. You can bet her children have something special planned for their Mom on this day. If my memory serves me right, (I hope) Warren Smith will be among the July celebrants. It is number fourteen for him. Sincere happy wishes to all. News is quite scarce this week. I guess everyone is sitting quiet, waiting for the long holiday weekend. As you know my copy of this column went into the office on Friday this week instead of the usual Monday deadline due to the holiday for all. So be sure if you did anything or entertained anyone over this happy holiday, call me and share it with your friends. You, I'm sure like to read what other people are doing and the same works for other people. Let's £put your news and my typewriter together and make this column real, real lengthy next week. Remember the regular Monday at noon deadline resumes again next week. Hope I hear from a lot of you by then. Take good care of yourselves. -J A IJou iOW Someone %w Jn Down? THE CHURCH FOR AU ^LL- FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greateit factor «m earth for the building of character and food citizenship. It ifl a itorehoiise of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There yre four sound reason* why every person ihould attend service! regularly and support the Church. They are: (I) For his own sake. (2) For hia children's sake. (3) for the «*k« of his oommunity and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regu-. krtjradnwl your Bibto daily. _ e\i It happened on flie very first point as everyone knew it would. The champ was testing the challenger's backhand. Champs are like that Right from the start they probe for some flaw in the opponent's game. And when they find it -- look out I Life is just as probing and relentless. Quickly it uncovers our weaknesses • • . then assaults them again and again. Is that why men go to church? Ifa one of the reasons I, Victories never come with glorying in our uncertain strength. They come with doing something about our proven weaknesses. Long ago it became trite to observe that the Church is meant for sinners rather than saints. But it is sound Christian living to recognize honestly our shortcomings . . . and constantly, persistently to seek God s help in overcoming them. ftp.)! tghi 1966Ktiittr Advertising Soviet, Inc., Stratburg.
