She became the bride of Mr. Johnson in a ceremony solemnized in California July 31 of this year. They are making their home in Burbank , Calif. Mr. sad Mn. Peter WelBgart Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weingart will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they hold open house from 8 p.m. to midnight at the V.F.W clubhouse. A Mass in their honor will be sung at St. Mary's Catholic church at 3 o'clock that afternoon, followed by a reception for family and invited guests at 5:30. Saturday, Oct. 1, when Helen Barden of 911 S. Broadway, McHenry Shores, exchanged nuptial vows with *M)h Mor- ' ris VV. Crouch of Rt. 31, McHenry. Rev. R. White, minister of the church, officiated at the 5 o'clock service. The bride was attired in san aqua silk, street length beaded dress with which she and carried a! bouquet of stephanotis and Amazon lilies. She was attended by a friend, Mrs. Helen Palmgren, of Glenview, who . wore a dark green suit and carried a corsage of white flowers. Morris C. Crouch served his father as best man. Following the service, the bridal party and immediate families enjoyed dinner at Martinetti's. Mr. and Mrs. Crouch will make their home in McHenry, where he has operated McHenry Floral company for many years. Peter Weingart and Theresa Freund were married Oct. 18, 1916, in St. Mary's church by Rev; Fr. Berthold Attending them in the fiftyyear- ago ceremony were included Herb Simon and Mrs. George Schreiner, with Mrs. »Irvin Schmitt as flower girl. Also in the 1916 wedding party, but now deceased, were Mrs. Herb Simoncsand William Schneider. The couple have lived all their married life in McHenry. They have two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Rita) Mason of Elgin and Mrs. William (Lucille) Salzman of Woodstock and two sons. Harold Weingart of Cooney Heights and Peter Weingart of Arlington Heights; also eleven grandchildren. norma andebson Mr. and Mrs. Norman Anderson of 59J.8 W. Rt. 120, McHenry, announce the engagement of their daughter, Norma Joy, to Samuel C. Woody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woody, Grayslake. Miss Anderson is employed as a secretary in McHenry. Mr. Woody is the herdsman at a Gnayslake farm. Both are 1961 McHenry high school graduates. Honored At Open House Mrs.. V.H.C. Yegge of De- Witt, la., was honored =at an open house held Sunday at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Frank, in DeWitt for fifty relatives. The occasion marked the eighty-seventh birthday of . Mrs. Yegge,1 which fell on Sept. 30. The buffet table was centered with a beautiful two-tiered birthday cake decorated in autumn colors and a large 87 on the top. Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Yegge, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yegge, Jeffrey and Jennifer, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Yegge and Judy of Woodstock spent the weekend in the Frank home. PATRICIA FREUND WED RECENTLY IN CALIFORNIA Sacred Heart church in San Diego, Calif., was the setting for a beautiful fall wedding on Saturday, Sept. 10, which united in marriage Miss Patricia Ann Freund, daughter of Mi-, and Mrs. Ernest Freund of McHenry, and Mr. George Brownyard of San Diego. Among her attendants was a close friend, Mrs. Dorothy Stoffel Stills of California, formerly of McHenry. Her twin toothers, Curtis and Carter Freund, were ushers. The bride was given in marriage by her father, who with his wife made the trip to California to attend the marriage ceremony. , The former Miss Freund is a. 1957 graduate of McHenry Community high school and thg groom is a graduate of San Diego high school. He is currently <*e6mpleting his education at the University of San Diego. Following a short honeymoon, the newlyweds are making their home in San Diego. Mr. Cina was graduated from Millikin university in Decatur and is now working as a retail salesman for a nursery firm in Dundee. The wedding will take place in Elgin this January. Former Resident Engaged To Wed Mr. and Mrs. Frank X. Gregory of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter, Susan Lynn, to Robert Titus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Titus of Worth, HI. The wedding will take place Dec. 17. Miss Gregory is a 1963 g r a d u a t e o f M c H e n r y h i g h school and of the University of Illinois dental assistant program. She is employed in the post-graduate pedodontic department at the University of Illinois college of dentistry. Mr. Titus is a graduate of the University of Illinois and presently is a senior dental student in the College of Dentistry. He is a member of Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. Shop In MeHenry LOTUS CLUB IS HOSTESS TO 11TH DISTRICT MEET An all day meeting of the Eleventh District Federation of Woman's Clubs was held in Richmond, at Hunter Country Club, Thursday, Sept. 22, with the Lotus Country Woman's Club of Spring Grove as hostess. M*fny clubs of the district from distant places and Richmond Woman's club were represented. There was an attendance of 116. Registration began at nine o'clock with Mrs. Gordon S e r g a n t a s r e g i s t r a r . M r s . Sergant is the newly elected president of the McHenry County Federation. The Lotus Club President Mrs. Frank Heine man and Mrs. Ed Buesseler greeted and guided the members of each club to their various tables. Business session \yas in the forenoon. Mrs. William Frish of Moline, the guest speaker, was introduced by District President Mrs. William Jones of Elgin who pre' sided at the session. Mrs. Frish gave a very inspiring message "Build with Youth for a Better World Today". Officers of the districts were introduced and gave reports of their achievements. A member of Junior Woman's Clubs spoke on their projects and the countless craft items they make and sell to help these projects. Among them the very important "Ship of Hope". Election of officers for the District followed. A delicious luncheon was served. The tables were beautifully decorated with flower arrangements. The afternoon schedule by the Lptus Club was delightful entertainment of music and song. Mrs. Edward Haswell sang songs from "Sound of Music" and other selections. She was accompanied by Mrs. Grant. Visiting with members of the guest clubs ended a most enjoyable day. GARDEN CLUB ANSWERS APPEAL OF PLANT GUILD The McHenry Garden club held a luncheon meeting at the home of Miss Mary Burdahl recently. There were thirteen members present and two guests, Mrs. Ida Street of Barring ton and Mrs. Henry McMahon of McHenry. Mrs. Clarence Mueller was welcomed as a new member. Mrs. . T. Snively talked about the appeal for the jelly fund and veterans funds of the Chicago Plant, Fruit and Flower guild. It was decided the club would participate in both. 45 The regular meetings were set up through March and a meeting calendar will be mailed to all members. | The 1967 flower arrangement and garden calendar. "Keep Faith with Tomorrow," is now available through the book chairman, Mrs. Fred Dodge. Miss Mary Burdahl pre-i sented an informative program on lawn and garden problems and their remedies. Every member received two lists, one on the "Infestation and its remedy" and the other on "Products and what they are effective against." After this information was d i s t r i b u t e d , m e m b e r s a n d guests particpated in a flower identification quiz. This was won by Mrs. Fred Dodge and she received a prize of one dozen tulip bulbs. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Herbert Rothering, 315 N. Timothy, Edgebrook Heights, on Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. HURT IN FALL William, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nicholas of 323 Hollywood Terrace, Lakemoor, was confined to McHenry hospital this week with injuries^ sustained when he fell from a tree while playing in the back yard Sunday afternoon. PLEDGES SORORITY Nancy Carol Batjes of 8905 Acorn path, Wonder Lake, is among 109 women who have been pledged this semester by eleven sororities at Northern Illinois university. In McHenry SCHIACHFEST TO BENEFIT NURSE FUND OF 40-8 On Saturday evening Qct. 8, the third annual schlachtfest of Cabane 578 of La Societe des Femmes will be held at the American Legion home in Huntley. This festive affair is planned to help raise funds to assist McHenry County Voiture 578 of the 40 et 8 in the presentation of nurse scholarships to deserving residents of McHenry county. To date there have been thirty-one scholarships awarded. Homemade sausages will be the highlight of the evening, including Bockwurst, Bratwurst, Knockwurst, Sweet and Hot Italian Sausage, and even Kielbasa (fresh Polish). All this sausage will be hand made by a member of V. 578, who is a master sausage maker and has served his apprenticeship wltlj a world famous sausage fnaker. Only the finest ingredients will be used in these recipes that have been handed down through the years. Also on the menu will be sauer kraut, boiled potatoes, pig knuckles, dessert (a special treat) and coffee. Serving time will be 5 until 9 p.m. The public is most cordially invited to attend this festive affair. It is suggested that you come early so that you are sure you will be able to be served.
