This program is under the auspices of the Great Books foundation, a non-profit educational organization and is sponsored and approved by the public and parochial schools in our community. JGB is a program of group discussion in the school of the Great Books read at home. Students gather informally around a conference table for one and one-half-hour sessions, twice a month during school hours. Adult co-leaders ( p a r e n t s a n d o t h e r s ) a r e trained not to provide the answers, but to help the students discover their own answers to problems raised by the Great Book. The emphasis is on thinking for one's self. However, there is a large "IF" attached to the future of this program. Each of these groups must have two trained leaders, moderators, to guide the youngsters. These leaders can be parents, teachers, or other interested adults who have been trained in the Great Books method of discussion. Unless there are new leader volunteers, this program will not be offered again to the children next fall. Therefore,. to interest people in this worthwhile program, Great Booksi leaders from both school systems have combined efforts to present a demonstration discussion program. Eighth graders from both public and parochial systems will participate. It will be held at the McHenry Junior high school on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. For further information call Mrs. Allans H. Leibsohn at 385-0703. PURE MILK MEETING The annual meeting and diner of the Richmond Local of Pure Milk association will be held Monday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Stage SWp Inn at Wilmot, Wis. In addition to damage to the clock itself, some records F \ stored in the room were des- ' ' troyed and telephone wires which entered the building at this point burned. It was believed a short in the clock may have been responsible. Fire Chief Ed Justen estimated damage at about SI, 500.
