It marked the first time the board has rejected a petition after public hearings. A citizens' group petitioned to establish the district, but residents of several suburbs in the county had protested at the hearings. Mrs. Patrick B. Prescott, only member of the six-man college board who dissented, said the main objection was that the suburbs wanted "similarity of student bodies." Other board members were of the belief it would be unwise to create a new district where there is widespread opposition. FOREMOST SON SALE AT THIS STORE ONLY - Fri, Sat,*Sung §4512 W. HE IS &ASHFUL ANP SO AM I.. Yrr ROSE SATTEM A funeral Mass was sung BABY GOUGH The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Gough of 3805 W. Millstream drive, McHen- Shop In McHenry THE WEEK'S LETTER: "I hav% a problem. About a year ago, a boy moved to the neighborhood. 1 did not like him because he was "nasty " to his mother and sisters. I had known him for a month when he began to like me. I discouraged him. Now, he has changed and I like him. But, he doesn't like me. I have tried to forget him, but this is hard to do, since his sister and I are good friends. What should 1 do? I can't talk to him. He is bashful and so am I." OUR REPLY: A "bashful" boy is not nice to his mother and his sisters? Are you sure that it is not your opinion that has changed and not the boy? It is quite possible that you were mistaken in your first impression that he was "nasty" to his mother and sisters. You became friends with one of the sisters and were perhaps influenced by some things she said. There is a certain amount of "argufying" that goes on among children in the happiest of families. Yet, these children, if properly guided at home, mind their manners in public. You have no reason to be bashful. You can certainly be friendly to a boy who lives in the neighborhood without being forward. And, if you were wrong, in your First impression of the boy, you will certainly hot make him mad if you tell him that you were. 11 yow havo a toenog* problem you wont lo diicust. or on obftorvation lo mok«. oddrnl you lottor lo FOR AND ABOUT TEENAGERS.
