People I'nder the Weather The three children of Harry and Lois Thelen entered the Woodstock hospital last Tuesday evening, but only two stayed. Believe it or not Mark was heart broken, because he had to go home. He was looking forward to having his tonsils out. He wasn't just up to par at this particular time so he went home and his two sisters, Sandy and Beth, stayed to have their tonsils out. The girls came homo on Thanksgiving day. Richard Dehn is doing (luite, well at the McHenry hospital where he underwent nose surgery last week^ lit" hopes to make it homo this week if no complications occur. We also heard Mrs. Li/. Family Mourns Sister William Althoff and Catherine and Barbara Althoff were 1o soe their sister Rose (Althoff) Satten in the Woodstock hospital last Monday evening. Sho was admitted there the previous day after suffering a stroke. We were sorry to learn that she passed au ay Tuesday morning at the age of 75. Funeral services wore conducted in Woodstock Friday. Our sincere sympathies are extended to the Althoff family.. Ladies Plan Christmas doings The officers and members of the Blessed Virgin Sodality will hold their annual Christmas party in I the community dub hall Tuesday evening, Dec. V,. The evening will get underway with serving of a l>ot-luck supper. Each member who plans to attend is asked to bring a dish to pass, a dollar exchange gift and something for our good sisters food shower. The gathering promises to be fun for all as the ladies get into the spirit of -the holiday. Carols will be sung to give it that extra little Christmas touch. The first round of the card tournament for the sodality will be started on this evening also. St. Agatha court 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters (formerly Women's Catholic Order of Foresters* will have their Christmas gathering on Tuesday evening. Dec. 20. beginning also with a potluek supper. There will also be a food shower for the Sisters and a one dollar exchange gift. As in the past years donations for the missions will also be received. If you belong either to the Blessed Virgin Sodality or the Lady Foresters, or both, plan on attending their Christmas parlies. They are always fun and a lot of time and effort go into those doings. California Vacation Joe and Vera Huemann recently returned from a most memorable vacation in California. They made the trip, back and forth by air and enjoyed it immensly. They spent some of this time with Iheir daughter and family, the Jack Laureses, in Kncino and then went on to visit their son and family, the Jim Huemanns. in San Francisco. Loads of sightseeing was done during the weeks the Huemanns spent in California and it was terrific ~ WANTED! College Students Spend Holiday Here Among our many young people who attend college several were home to spend Thanksgiving with their families. The parly took place in her home on Sunday. Nov. 1!'.. Kim acted every hit the young lady as -lie opened her many lovely -ilts. Her mom, Judy, served a most delicious buffet supper to ihe guests, lopped off liy a luscious dessert. A real pretty carousal cake was the feature of the buffet table. Clul^ Dinner Dance Huge Success The officers and momlwrs >f the Johnsburg Community Club are most happy with the result of the rocont dinner dance hold in the club hall. The assistance given by the members . and their wives on this night was most gratifying. Everyone knows that no organization can survive without the combined help of its members. This is the only fund raising endeavor the club has during tho year, and as usual, all tho civic minded people of the club came lo its need. All help on this evening was donated, from the kitchen help, all the way through to the bar room. Clarence Regnor, soliciting chairman, would bo most happy to hear from any of the members in regards to his recent letter soliciting funds to assist in paying off the mortgage and maintaining the building. Ho intends to make his report at the December mooting, so if you plan to donate, please do it now so it will be entered on tins rei>ort. Lifelong Resident Passes On We of this community join in extending our sincere sympathies to Frank Schmitt and his family upon tho passing of his father. Anton M. Schmitt. Mr. Schmitt passed away Nov. 20 in the Woodstock hospital, where he had l>cen a patient for several weeks. Funeral services wore conducted on Wednesday of last week from St. John's church with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Schmitt was a lifelong resident hero and his presence will l)e missed by all.
