COLOR GUARD OPENS SEASON AT STREAMWOOD The Viscounts Color fcuard. members of the junior auxiliary of McHenry Unit 491. started off the 1966 season with a seventh place on Saturday, Nov. 26, with a score of 71.15. This show was sponsored by the DesPlaines Corsairs and was held in Streamwood. 111. There were seventeen color guards in competition. The Kenosha Queensmen. took first place with a score of 85.95. O t h e r g u a r d s r e c e i v i n g trophies were the Racine Scouts, second with 78.75; third place, Chicago Mounties with 74.15; and the MiHtaires from Fremont, Ohio, took home the fourth place trophy with a score of 73.1. On Sunday, ! Nov. 27, the Viscount Color Guard successfully defended its championship of the SchMMubs show (South Milwaukee municipal band), held in South Milwaukee. Wis. The Vis* counts took first place with a score of 72.45 and were again awarded the first place trophy as well as the championship flag, which they won r. |ferget anaUJail last year. Sergeants Jeanne DeVries amKQail McjCormick of the Viscounts were awarded the best commanding officer trophy. The second placo trophy was won by the Des Plaines Corsairs with a sco^e of 72.3 and third place went to the Sheyboygan Buccaneers with a score of 71.5. Next Sunday, Dec. 4, the Viscount Color Guard will travel to Sheyboygan for competition being sponsored by Hie Buccaneers. The girls are hard at work raising funds for the trip to Sandusky and Fremont, Ohio, in late February. The annual "On Guard1' Color Guard show will be held on Feb. 12 at the McHenry high school gym. The U.S.D.A. in their annual crop report continues to say that each American person will have threefifths of a turkey and twelve broilers to cat for their year's supply. As an American you will cat 156 lbs. of red meat as your share of America's food wealth this year. This 156 pounds of meat will include 96 lbs. of beef, 4 lbs. of veal. $3 lbs. of pork and 3 lbs. of lamb and mutton. Milk supply in the U.S. is e s t i m a t e d a t 1 2 1 b i l l i o n pounds. Your supply for the year is about 605 lbs. of milk. Each American, on an average, will have some 200 glasses of milk to drink and will consume the remainder of his supply in ice cream, butter, cottage cheese, milk products and in a wide Variety of processed cheese. YegetsiblP Production The consumer may pay more for vegetables this year, U.S.D.A. reports show 196G vegetable production at 62 million hundredweight, which is 8 percent below last year and 4 percent less than average.
