IDEM YEA FORMULA FOR RETIREMENTJUST FOLLOW YOUR OWN NOSE There is sonn- partic ular f o r mula that will make yuur r e t i r e ment one of the splendid experiences of your life. You'll find it under yourgrey hairs. Nowhere else. Not in a book, and certainly not in what somebody else is doing. Recognize -- and set down firmly -- what your aspirations in retirement are. Then apply a' l i t t l e common sense about people and things as they are. And you've got it. ' I ' h i s week came the retirement story of a man named Watterson. He said: " Ive been work-1 ing since I was old enough to' pick up a hoe. I'm tired. I'm going to r e t i r e , and I ain't going to do another lick of work for nobody as long as I live." ' - Mr. Watterson. a plant mechanic, will have a good r e t i r e ment. You can bet on it. He. needs only to find a crackerbarrel to sit on. About a do/en miles from Mr. Watterson's plant another man was retiring this week. Mr. Hr\sto\. a company vicepresident. He said: "Mrs. Bris-, tol and I plan to makeourhomej at the Countryi Club. We're looking forward to bridge and. of course, golf. And I intend to do Somesailing . . Mr. Bristol has fallen for "Rich Man's I'lan No. 14-B." 1 nless there's a miracle r e tirement will fail. Not dramatically but month by month as the social life paIN and as the chic young thing- who hang inninri countrv (lubs nudge him and his u ife into the background. But along with these two ' s t o r i e s , there came a third. And • in it you may find a clue to your 'future. 'Hie story is from a man who has had a long career in the Federal Covernment. 1 will be eligible for r e t i r e ment in about one year, at the age of (>2." he says. "My wife and 1 both \yll get a retirement income, which will be adequate for our needs. U'e have a few thousands in savings. We will sell our home, which is worth about S 1 ">,()()() . . . " Then thevwill move to Seattle. Wash. "Our son lives m Seattle, and on his property he has a small two-bedroom house. It has a garage and a workshop. It will fit our needs very well. We will pay a nomina4 rent for it. And meanwhile will be available to look after our son's home While he is awa\. as he will look after our- when we are away. This will leave our savings intact. "My chref interest to pursue in retirement is rock-hounding. My wife's chief interest is rugmaking. I will equip the shop in our rented house for lapidary work, with grinder saws, polisher, racks, and displav cases. 1'hcn during the summer months my wife «iid 1 will make field trips through Washington. Bolshaw, chairman of the Wonder Lake Advisory board. The board .is composed ol delegates api>ointed by the subdivisions, and "concerns itself with affairs of mutual interest to the seventeen subdivisions that comprise the community. It is a voluntary organization financed by contributions from the subdivisions. Bclshaw reported that the Public Safety committee resolutions have been signed by Deep Springs Woods Property Owners association, Lookout Point Community association, No. 2, Hickory Falls association No. 1 and 2, Wooded Shores Property Owners association, Wildwood Association of Lookout Point No. 1, and Sunrise Ridge association. All other subdivisions have been urged to execute the document. The resolutions make it possible for officers and delegates of the Advisory board to cooperate more effectively with law enforcement and other agencies on matters of common interest to the entire Wonder Lake community. The Advisory" board also launched a program of printing identification decals for vehicles and boats that will be identical for each subdivision, except for the imprinted subdivision name and serial number. Many subdivisions already have their 1967 decals and indicated they will participate in this program in 1968. Those starting with the 1967 program are Hickory Falls association No. 1 and 2, Wonder Woods Property Owners association, Lookout Point Community association No. 2, and Wildwood Association of Lookout Point No. 1. The decals will be ready for distribution by mid-January. jend 50c Bcm 1672 G.nnd N v 10017 N K\\ IOCS . . .
