PAGE 6, SECTION 1 - MCHENRY PLAINDEALER - DECEMBER 8, 1966 LOCAL STUDENT TO PLAY WITH JOHNSBURG NEWS WESLEYA N BAND ETTERS TO BETTY HETTERMANN 385-1290 LADIES GROUPS PLAN PARTIES FOR CHRISTMAS The first op-^the many Christmas parties^ to take place in theJjohnsburg community dub mall will be held next Monda>\ evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. The junior members of St. Agatha court No. 777, will observe their h o l i d a y f e s t i v i t i e s a t t h i s time. The girls will enjoy a pot-luck supper. Later there will be brought by members members of the court are welcome. Girls from preschool age through the second grade are asked to bring a 25 cent gift, third and fourth graders will exchange a 1>0 cent gift, a 75 cent gift will be broght by members in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades, and the girls in eighth t h r o u g h h i g h s c h o o l , w i l l bring a $1.50 gift for exchange. The meeting will be brought to a close at 8 p.m. The junior court members in seventh, eighth and high school will go caroling at the Villa Home on Dec. 19. They will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, Dec. 13, the Blessed Virgin Sodality will gather in the club hall for their pre-Christmas celebration. It will begin with a pot-luck supper which will be served at 6 :30. Each lady who plans to attend the party is asked to bring a dish to pass, a dollar exchange gift and something for the Sisters' kitchen shower. The current card tournament will get underway during this evening. The following Tuesday, Dec. 20, officers and members of St. Agatha court No. 777, of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, (formerly Women's Catholic Order of Foresters) will observe their holiday doings. They will also have a pot-luck supper at 6:30, a dollar gift exchange and a kitchen shower for the sisters. Donations for the missions will also be graciously received. Family Attends Funeral We all join in extending our heartfelt sympathies to William Meyers upon the recent death of his only sister, Mrs. Anna Senft, of Chicago. Bill and his family were in the city for the wake and the funeral services. Mrs. Senft was laid to rest on Thursday of last week. Meetings of Importance The Men Foresters will have the regular meeting this Thursday evening, Dec. 8 in the Community Club hall. All members are invited to participate at this time. The C.Y.J, members and their officers will hold a meeting next Sunday, at 11 a.m. in the school hall. All the Catholic youth from this parish are invited to be present and help the group get started on their new season. New Welcome to Old Faces We lay out the welcome mat for Ken and Elaine Townsend along with their young son, who recently moved into the home at 3915 Dolores Drive in Jak-Ana Heights. The Townsertds are familiar faces in our area as Elaine was born and raised here and ditto for Ken in Richmond. We hope they stick around a long, long time. Hospital Patients Please try to get a card off to Mrs. Elizabeth Smith who is still confined to the Mc- Henry hospital. It is not known at this time just when she will return, to her apartment ort Johnsburg Road. Include a prayer for her recovery along with your daily ones. Richard Dehn is most happy to be home, and back to work after nose surgery in the McHenry hospital. Holly Hasu^r Birthday The name Holly goes very wdl in this month of December, and Holly Marshall was born in this month 11 years ago. Happy, happy wishes to her on the occasion. Notes From Home and School Association Meeting At the last meeting of St. John's Home and School association, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Olsen presided over an interesting as well as entertaining gathering. Father Manahan visited to invite the parish to the Diocesan Retreat House. His description of the facilities at the new building made a weekend there sound most attractive, as well as spiritually uplifting. Mr. Costanza of the Mental Health Center for McHenry county, was the guest speaker. Mrs. Ted Spengel and her committee are to be congratulated on the lovely Christmas centerpieces that decorated the tables. Refreshments were served by this committee at the dose of the meeting. Closing time has come around once again. I hope you all stay well this week, and be very kind to your friends and neighbors. Treat them like you would like to be treated. Nolan, of 3320 Fairway, McHenry, will perform with the Illinois Wesleyan university concert band at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in Westbrook auditorium of Presser hall. He will be playing saxophone. The Thursday program is one of two public programs presented by the school of music concert band during each school year. Still of Woodstock, general county chairman of the savings bonds committee. Sales in the state of Illinois were $29.176.536, a c c o r ding to Arnold J. Rauen of McHenry, state director of the Treasury department's savings bond division. This is an increase of 15.6 per cent over sales for last October, and accounts for 7.2 per cent of national sales which were 5408,000,000.
