ELLIN -Airs. May Luellin, 80, of Wdshington. Pa., mother of Lieut. Kenneth Espey of the McHenry police department, died Dec., 10 in Canonsburg General hospital, Canonsburg, Pa. Mrs. Luellin was born May 8. 1886, in Waynesburg, Pa. Other survivors include u daughter, Mrs. Sara Harton, of Washington, Pa., seven grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. Her husband and a son, Clinton, preceded her in death. Bural took place last Monday in Washington cemetery. CINA Funeral services for Joseph A Cina, 52, of 1132 Gail lane, Sleepy Hollow, Dundee, a former McHenry resident, were held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, when Mass was sung in St. Catherine's church, Dundee, Burial was in Holy Sepulchre cemetery in that city. Mr. Cina died Sunday, Dec. 11, while attending Mass. While residents of this area, the family resided in Lakeland Park. Survivors are his wife, Frances; two sons, Vincent at home and Joseph of McHenry; a daughter, Josephine, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Parisi of Dundee and Mrs. Joseph Rossini of Califorj The body rested at t-ne Mil- FRED J. NICKELS Fred J. Nickels of 516 E. Main street, Barrington, for many years a resident of McHenry, died Saturday morning, Dec. 10, in Hines Veterans hospital, where lie had been confined for three months. He had been in poor health for the past two years. Mr. Nickels. 70 years old, was born in McHenry Nov. 6. 1896, and lived in McHenry until nineteen years ago, when he moved to Barrington. He was a plumber by trade and was employed in Barrington by Schroed e r Hardware-Plumbing. The deceased was the son of the late Fred and Louise Dettmer Nickels. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Buss Nickels; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Krohn of Falls Church. Va., and Mrs. Harold ^Lucille) Weingart of McHenry; three sons, Walter and George of Cary and Robert of Barrington; and sixteen grandchildren. Two brothers, Edward (Bruce) and Henry (Hank) Nickels preceded him in death. The body rested at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home until Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, when Rev. Graduation from Cut) Scouting was held and the following boys advanced into Boy Scout Troop ](i2: Jeffrey S. Holthusen, Dennis B. Volpendesta, Paul Raasch. David Stilling. George Lossmann. II o ward James Bacon and James Scheid. Assistant Scoutmaster Jim Kirk of Troop 162 welcomed thq boys as they were [(resented the green and gold neckerchiefs, symbol of the Boy Scouts. Indian Chief A1 Bianchi then told the boys "The Story of a Door." Other awards for the eveni n g w e r e : B a d g e s -- D a v i d Scheid, Michael Parth and Jeff Thompson. One-yoar pin Rick Landry, three-year-pin, Dennis Volpendesta and Jeffrey Holthusen. The theme for November was "Outer Space". Each den really worked hard on this theme and put on a great evening of entertainment. Dens 1 and 5 gave an "Adventure to the Moon," complete with a Thanksgiving theme in song, of "To Grand- Mothers House We Go" --by way of outer space. Den 2 then changed the pace with "The shooting of the Munsters on Ihe Moon". They were followed by Dap 7 with a "Gemini Blast QfF^ The boys used real models and walkie-talkies to simulate a real blast-off and were very convincing, proving again the interest and knowledge in the space program by all of 4^e young Cubs. The boys all wish to congratulate Cubmaster and Mrs. Glen Messer on the arrival of "Thanks To You, We're NEW!" Dec. 4. prevented many of those who had purchase tickets for the winter concert, Handel's "Messiah", from attending, the Northern Illinois Choral association will repeat the performance this Friday evening, Dec. 16. at 8 p.m! in the auditorium of Central Grade school, Crystal Lake. Raymond A. Peirce, president of the association, has announced that tickets will be available at the door, and that tickets for the Dec. 4 concert which were not used at that time will be honored. Mrs. Russell T. Griffith^ is director of the chorus, and has announced that soloists Margaret Denker and Edmund Childress will repeat their parts in this concert* and that Ruth MacKusick will sing the soprano solos, replacing Phyllis Schneider, who will not be able to be present.
