Dedicate Lutheran Church Pews • Sunday, Doc. 18, will be a long awaited day at Nativity Lutheran church, Wonder Lake, when the new pews will be dedicated at the 11 oiclock service of worship. Rev. Thomas Johnson, pastor of Nativity. said the new pews are beautiful and will be fully appreciated1 since the congregation has waited almost seven years for thtfm. Thirty-three pews were purchased, all of which were memorialized by members of the congregation. Riverside Dr. YOUNG FORESTER MEMBERS ENJOY CHRISTMAS PARTY St. Mary's Court, No. 594, Catholic Order of Foresters, entertained the Juvenile Foresters in St. Mary's gym last Sunday. Dec. 11. The juveniles gathered at the gym early in the evening, when Director Richard Schmitt and his committee greeted them with a hearty welcome. CALL MORATORIUM ON DELINQUENT TAX SUMMONS The week before Christmas no summons will be served on those who have not yet paid their personal property taxes, according to Cal Skinner, Jr., county Treasurer, and Thomas A. Henley, Assistant States' Attorney. At present Assistant Treasurer Edith Howell supervises the processing of 120 small claim complaints each week. Henley and Mrs. Eleanor Swain handle all back taxes amounting to over $200. This year the county is attempting to take some court action on all persons who are dilenquent in their personal property taxes. "Although I do not approve of the method of assessment of personal property tax, I have been charged with the legal responsibility of collecting it," Skinner commented. "And I shall do my best." When questioned what he intends to do about revising the tax sfystem, Skinner explained that/next spring he hopes to appoint a committee of interested persons to study the tax system and come up with comprehensive suggestions for reform. "Of course, they probably won't be acted upon until the Constitutional Convention in 1969, but we will have developed a point from which to bargain," Skinner contends. He believes that the result might bo quite bcneficial to the citizens of McHenry county. In the meantime, those citizens who have not paid their personal property taxes will enjoy a respite for the week prior to Christmas.
