R|. 120," McHenry, and Mr. Samuel Woody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woody of Grayslake, formerly of McHenry. Rev White officiated at the 4 o'clock nuptial rite. Red and white carnations placed amidst everg r o e n txnighs decorated the altar. The bride selected a threepiece knit suit of pale mint qreen, with which she wore dark green accessories, including a veiled headpiece held in place with an aurora borealis circle. Her corsage was an orchid. Miss Anderson's only attendant was Mrs. Patricia Grandt of McHenry, who wore a twopiece beige dress and a corsage of red and white mums. Dee Woody served his brother as best man and Richard Anderson, brother of the bride, acted as usher. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Anderson selected a gray metallic, three-piece suit, red hat and red and white carnation corsage. Mrs. Woody wore a blue suit and similar corsage. A reception for forty guests followed the ceremony, held at the Anderson home. The couple left later for a honeymoon trip into Wisconsin and upon their return will make their home in Lake Villa. Both young people graduated in 1961 from McHenry high school. The new Mrs. Woody has been employed in the office of Northern Pump company farm, McHenry, and her husband for the Pickett Fence farm, Grayslake. ECKSTEIN-CON WAY FALL MARRIAGE rs ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Eckstein of Chicago announce the marriage of their daughter, Janet, to Mr. Dennis Conway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Conway of McHenry, which took place Nov. 23 in Chicago. Both young people are graduates of McHenry high school, the bride in 1962 and her husband in 1958. She also graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1966. McHenry DOWNEY VETS ENTERTAINED AT HOLIDAY PARTY Members of Joyce Kilmer Court. No. 573. Catholic Daughters of America, enjoyed the annual Christmas party at Downey Veterans hospital recently. The early part of the evening was spent in cards and games played, in which the patients participated. A Christmas theme was carried out when the refreshments were served. Each patient received a favor in the form of a candy Santa Claus. Christmas cookies, along with fruit, doughnuts and coffee, were much enjoyed by the men. Miss Gregory Becomes Bride One of the season's most beautiful weddings was solemnized Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Community Methodist church of McHenry, when Miss Susan Lynn Gregory exchanged nuptial vows with Mr. Robert L. Titus. Miss Gregory of 4130 N. Paulina, Chicago, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gregory of 3712 W. Young street, McHenry, and Mr. Titus, who lives at 1926 W. Harrison street, Chicago, is the son ,of Mr, and Mrs. Jack Titus^of 10834 Neenah avenue, Worth, 111. Rev. Ernest Carder, former pastor of the local Methodist church, officiated at the candlelight service, for which Mrs. Clarence Keim Vvas soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Larry Thomas on the organ. Altar flowers were white poinsettias, and the church was decorated for the 'Christmas season with two small trees, and red poinsettias, green ribbons and boughs marked on the pews. Miss Gregory was charming in a peau de soje, French reembroidered chantilly lace, empire fashion A-line chapel length gown. It was styled with sculptured neckline, fitted bodice, double tiered kabuki sleeves and band in peau de soie at the waist. A detachable, chapel length train, bordered with French reembroidered chantilly lace, was fashioned with a back trow. She wore elbow length white kid gloves. Her silk illusion, two-tiered fountain veil fell from an alencon lace crown highlighted with pearls. Hie locket worn by the bride was also worn by her maternal grandmother on her wedding day. Miss Gregory's colonial bouquet consisted of white Fugi and feather mums with holly. Her engagement ring and the wedding bands were designed and made by the groom. Attending the bride were Miss Judith Gregory of Chicago, her sister, as maid of honor, Miss Janet Masten, Miss Peg Titus, sister of the groom, and Miss Barbara Hirte of Chicago. They were attired in long, red- velvet dresses, empire style, with elbow length sleeves. Each wore a white fur hat and carried matching muffs to which was attached a sprig of holly. Their wrist length, white kid gloves were gifts of the bride. John Titus of Chicago served his brother as best man and ^oomsmen were William Ayer and John Grabow of Chicago and James McWetby of Palos Heights. Mrs. Gregory chose a gold, silk and wool, two-piece dress, white kid gloves and matching cage veil with gold bead trim. Mrs. Titus wore a green brocade dress, had a small hat of matching veiling and gloves. Following a short honeymoon trip, the couple will make their home at 4130 N. Paulina avenue, Chicago. The bride is a graduate of McHenry high school and is now a dental assistant at the University of Illinois. Tlie groom graduated from Blue Island high school and received a B.D.S. degree from the University of Illinois, where he is a senior dental student. JUNIOR GIRL FORESTERS HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY Junior girl members of St. Clara's Court, No. 659, of the National Catholic Society of Foresters (formerly WCOF) enjoyed their annual Christmas party held in the new Legion home. Prizes were awarded to winners of games played, under supervision of Court President Martha Freund, and Judy Buss. Cupcakes and pop were served by Junior directors, Joan Buss, Loretta Freund and Helen Rodenkirch. A special award was presented by the fifth grade teachers of St. Mary's school, Mrs. Kiggins and Si^|er Roberta, to two Juniors, Debbie Schabow and Mary Rodenkirch. Their essays won honorable mention in the contest sponsored by the National Catholic Society of Foresters last year. The awards were announced at the society's national convention held in Denver, Colo., in August, which President Martha Freund attended and accepted the ribbons for the winners, along with the Junior court scrapbook which also won an honQrable mention ribbon. The girls made 125 napkin rings for the' hospital trays on Christmas day. Santa made his appearance and the girls sang "Jingle Belfs," after which Santa presented to each'girl a stocking full of candy and a gift. 4 food gift was presented to the nuns at St. Mary's and St. Patrick's schools for their pantries. Sewing Guild Enjoys Christmas Party On Dec. 14 the Pink Lady sewing guild met at a local restaurant for their annual Christmas party. A delicious buffet was the menu. After luncheon nine members and one guest went to the Daniel Knapp residence where Christmas gifts were exchanged, refreshments served, Christmas carols sung and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Lilah Jordan was the happy recipient of the lovely Christmas tree skirt made by Nellie Bergener. If), the Wonder Lake Garden club held its Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Charles Kopp, 4317 E. Lake Shore drive, Wonder Lake. Eleven Ladies attended, Mes dames, Fiala, S. Johnson, Kinzie, Kopp. N. Margolis, R. Mii^hy, Nelson, Ottoson, Pose, Sanders, Vlatvsky and a guest Mrs. Anne Nagel. There was a short meeting by the ladies. President Ottoson announced a few places of interest to attend, among them, the Flower Show at Mc- Cormick Place in Chicago in March. Mrs. Kopp had her home decorated beautifully. After playing games, a grab bag was held. Mrs. Kopp served coffee, tea, cookies, cake and candies which were enjoyed by all.
