Turner of Harvard, formerly of this community. TEENS ORGANIZE MARCH OF DIMES BENEFIT JAN. 15 The teens of McHenry county are working to organize a benefit dance for the March of Dimes. Profits made from this dance will go toward the fight against birth defects. All entertainment, facilities, and help for this benefit dance are on a volunteer basis. As of this date, entertainment includes the famous "Cryan' Shames." Two disc jockeys from Radio Station WCFL will make gues appearances, and six local groups will be featured, including. The new Villagers from Lake Zurich. The date selected for this "dance of the year," is Jan.; 15. from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. The place is the New Place, familiar teen-age night club, located on Route 31. two miles north of Algonquin. Debbie Dinham and Colleen Drayer, of Crystal Lake are co-chairmen, with Robert Denny and Mrs. Richard Dinham as adult advisors* The committee includes Pat Mc- Atee and Jody Ann Morgan of Crystal Lake high school and Dick Reynolds, from Marian Central high school. Elena's Beauty Hints m lRDEN CLUB )LDS POT-LUCK CHRISTMAS PARTY The McHenry Garden club held its annual pot-luck and Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Robert Petersen. The quantity of t o o d consumed proved that the members are excellent cooks as well as <;ood gardeners. Following a short business1" meeting, the program was turned over to M r s . G . T . S n i v e l y , w h o m a d e b e a u t i f u l t a b l e a n d door arrangements for the Christmas season. On Jan. 16 the District II annual meeting of the Garden Club of Illinois, Inc.. will be held at the Hyatt House in Lincoln wood. It will include a luncheon and work shops. Mrs. Charles Wagner should be called for reservations. It is important that all attend to make a good showing. Plans were finalized for the next meeting on Jan. 18 at 1 p.m., which will be a "guest day" at the Community Methodist church. The program will bo a one-hour colored film. "A Year of Gardening," shown and narrated by Robert Elich, noted horticulturist. There will be a tea table following the program. The Wonder Lake and R i c h m o n d G a r d e n c l u b s have been invited as special guests. To everyone interested in the Chicago World Flower and Garden show at McCormick Place, there will be a bus leaving McHenry on Tuesday. Center street, McHenry, announce thes engagement of their daughter, Nancy Grace, of 2341 Badger parkway, Madison^Wis., to Van Volk of Corvallis, Ore. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Garth W. Volk of Worthington, Ohio. Miss Whiting, a graduate of St. Mary's hospital school of nursing in Madison, is a registered nurse at University hospital. Mr. Volk received his BS and MS degrees from Ohio State university and his Ph. D from the university in 1965. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Soils at Oregon State university, Corvallis. A spring wedding is planned.
