Many of \he children went in groups \o carol at the homes adding to thafe special Christmas filing. Now the rush is over, the packages arc unwrapped but we dre loft with the memories of much merry making with our friends and relatives. Ted and Dorothy Bierchen and family spent Christmas day at the home of Dorothy's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips. A dinner was prepared for about twelye relatives to enjoy. A f a m i l y g e t - t o g e t h e r which is just that, when Legs and Katherine Bute and children get together with the rest of Katherine's family. it is a real celebration. This Christmas forty close relatives met at the Fred Lay residence in Chicago for dinner and holiday jubilation. Mrs. Lay is Katherine's sister. The DeFranciscos entertained over the Christmas weekend. On Christmas day, Marge prepared a luscious 1 turkey dinner for the Schavcys. That evening they played games and just relaxed enjoying this wonderful time of the year] The Schaveys stayed until Monday afternoon when they returned to Chicago. The Bud Kennebec ks got a pleasant surprise when they arrived in Westmont at the home of Bob and Marilyn Gampel on Christmas eve. That afternoon the Gam perls had become the parents of a new son weighing 8 lbs., and 1 oz. That was quite a Christ-' mas present! Christmas day took the Kennebecks to Bud's mother's home in Johns burg where eighteen members of the family gathered for dinner and a full day of. celebration. Sunday evening Phillip and Paul Gamperl came to spend a week with the Kennebecks while their mother is recuperating with tfieir new brother. -~"x .. John and Sherri Dunford and son spent a very busy weekend with relatives. Christmas' eve, the Dunioids had dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Pabst in Lily- Jake, Wis. Then on Christmas, they wjere back to Wisconsin but this time it was to Kenosha to .one of Sherri's aunt's home where forty some relatives gathered for dinner and just a little Christmas cheer. The Berg residence was the scene of much activity over this past three day holiday. Christmas eve brought Wally's family out from Chicago. Wally's mother, Wanda, Grandmother, and brother, Paul, and Marlene's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Freund of Johns burg, had an early meal before the arrival of Santa. The evening ended after the exchange of gifts. Christmas day was a relaxing one until early evening when Marlene's family gathered at her sister's home in McHenry. Early Monday morning Joe and Patti Forest and children of Lombard, Mrs. Pat Frisby and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Segerstrom and Carol all stopped in for a little holiday cheer and friendly conversation. Joe and Kasyle Cina and children spent Christmas eve at the Bute residence. They sat and enjoyed the lovely holiday spirit and later in the evening they exchanged gifts. On Christmas the Cinas were off to Dundee to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Parisi, Joe's aunt and uncle. A delicious dinner was prepared for fifteen relatives and then everyone opened gifts. Fred and Ginger Boomfield and family spent Christmas eve at the Allen home in McHenry. Mr. Allen is Ginger's brother. About fifteen relatives sat down to a special holiday "meal. Later in the evening they unwrapped presents and then departed for home. Christmas Day was a day of leisure, thought Fred! A day to sit and watch the children enjoy all the things they received from Santa. Well, it just did not turn out that way. bear old Santa brought the children bikes uut forgot to 'assemble them, so, Fred spent all day assembling bikes which was not much fun and not a bit relaxing at all. The Ed Wickrhans, Sr., and daughter from Grayslake spent Christmas day with the Ed Wickman, Jr., family. On Monday, the Wickmans went to Lake Villa where they spent the afternoon with Ed's sister and family. Frank and Mary Mann had their son and his family from Chicago for the day. Frank's mother from Southern Illinois visited for a few days with the, Manns. At 1 a.m. had a wonderfull call from her brother in Trail, British Columbia. He had been calling all s evening and finally got the call thru then. Although it was only il p.m: in Trail. Tuesday, after Christmas w a s M a r y ' s b i r t h d a y . S h e would have completely forgotten if it had not been for some phone calls from well wishers. The Bud Lytles spent Christmas eve with Lucy's mother from Prairie View. On Christmas day they motored to Peru, Ind., to Bud's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lytle, and returned home on Monday evening. * The Lakowskis went to Steven's Point, Wis., and spent Saturday and Sunday with Betty's sister and family. the Rosenthals. , Duane and Sandy Schneider and two sons enjoyed Christmas eve with Duane's mother in Elgin. Christmas day found them in McHenry at Sandy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pierottt. It also was David's second birthday which was celebrated that evening at Sandy's aunts in McHenry where the family gathered. The P. J. Schneiders were quarantined over Christmas. Unfortunately Danny had the mumps, but it did not keep Santa from making his visit. Herb. Mary, and Don Rose enjoyed two Christm ases this year. One at home and then on Monday they stayed overnight with Herb's sister in R a c i n e , W i s . , w h e r e t h e y , were graciously entertained. The Segerstrom family had Ken's brother, Charles, and wife and son from Chicago for Christmas eve dinner. We dined by candlelight while little Carol kept singing happy birthday. That proves we do not dine by candlelight very often. On Christmas day we joined the Morrison family in Chicago, making for a very merry group. The Caley residence was just about to burst at the seams when the family all gathered to enjoy Christmas eve. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Carr and son, Mr. and Mrs. Skidmore and three sons, Mrs. Chuck Caley, Jr., and daughter. Miss Cindy Mack and of course. Chuck, Helen and children all indulged in eating a little too much of a delicious dinner. Then they all sat around and exchanged _gifts.. The Walczynskis * and the Mikkelsens along with Dad Holtfodt ate Christmas eve dinner at a nearby resort. Afterwards they gathered at the Walczynski home for gift exchange. Roger and Betty Moore and family were at Betty's brother's home in Wauconda for Christmas eve. On the big day Betty's mother and brother and wife and two children had Christmas dinner with the Moores. Mike and Rose Tillich and Mike, Jr., were visited by the DeFranciscos on Christmas eve. On Christmas day they entertained Mike's mother, his sister and her husband and his brother, wife and four children. On Monday they visited friends pd relatives in Antioch and Ingleside. A1 Stephens had a week's vacation during the holidays, so A1 and Velma were able to enjoy a little more entertaining and visiting of their neighbors. The -Maule family were visited by Charlotte's mother for a few days. Mrs. Lulu Kollberg is from Two Rivers, Wis. Charlotte's brother and family came down on Christmas day from Menonv inee Falls, Wis. Dorothy Stoffel's sister and family from Waukegan spent Christmas day with the Stoffels. Dorothy and Jim celebrated fifteen years of wedded bliss on Dec. 26 with the family dining out at a nearby restaurant. Schaumberg is where the Rodieks went on Christmas day where eleven family members gathered for a fine dinner and merry making. Jim and Pat Williams and four children went to Grandma Williams in Fox Lake on Christmas eve. On Christmas day the family got together at Pat's sister's, the Ken Vollinks in Rockford, including -Mom and Dad Call- Kbun from Orange City, Fla. They all feasted on presssed turkey. That is right! Poor old torn stayed in the oven so long he completely collapsed, but Pat said it was the best turkey she ever, ate. Much to the delight of three year- old Danny Williams, Santa Claus paid him a visit at the Vollinks. The William Callhouns will •be spending a few days here with their daughter, Pat Williams, and family, and then will stay in Palatine with their son before returning to Florida. The Palmers' home was a busy place fbr the holidays. On Christmas eve Marge prepared a pheasant dinneir with wild rice tfhich has become an annual affair. Velma and A1 Stephens and Claire and Howard Hoettels were there for this most delicious meal - Christmas day brought Harold's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Palmer, Marge's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Giannini and brother, Joe, (who stayed over night) and Marge's Aunt Mary and her son, John, all from Evanston. On Tuesday evening the P a l m e r s e n t e r t a i n e d t h e bowling team for which Harold bowls. This included fourteen bowlers who enjoyed fine food and much fun. Christmas eve the Higgenses went to Carpentersville to visit Denise's great aunt and then to Bob'svparents in Crystal Lake. . Bob and Denise rose early on Christmas morning to catch the expression on the children's faces with the camera as they see what is under the tree. After seeing these pictures from year to year, it is a custom well worth the effort. They all went to Fox Lake at the home of Etenise's mother for dinner. The Don Gersteins and children dined out at their favorite restaurant on Christmas day. <Ne\v Granddaughter Mn and Mrs. Chuck1 Caley,, Sr., became the grandparents of a beautiful little baby girl. Lisa Ann is the first child of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Caley, Jr. Chuck, Jr., left Nov. 27 for Viet Nam where he is now stationed as a military policeman at Vang-Tu. Chuck has not seen his daughter yet because he left a week before her arrival. He will spend one year there before return- _jng to the states. ^Recovering From Surgery Chuck Caley, Sri, was operated on in Woodstock hospital in the early part of December. After spending fourteen days in the hospital he was able to return home. Chuck is doing fine but will be taking it easy for a few months before doctor will allow him to return to work. We hope your ^recovery will be a speedy one: • Birthday Greeting Happy birthday today to Lorraine Major. Sherri Ann Lytle will be five on Jan. 6. Gerald Dowe celebrates Jan. 8. Andrew Eichhorn, Jr., will be six on Jan. 9. Audrey Pinkonsly shares Jan. 11 with Candy Kobus who will be sweet sixteen and Jimmy Fuqua who will be twelve. . Wishing each of you the happiest birthday ever, and. much happiness throughout the year. it • • •-* •A Carolling The Johnsburg 4-H Clovers went carolling at the Woodstock Children's Home and the home for the elderly. Among the clovers were Rosie and Alfie May, Betty, Mary Jane, and John Lakowski, M$ry Walczynski, Helen arid Kathy Farly, Anne, Terri ~ and Lauri Radtke, Dean and David , Noah, Debbie Fuqua and Marty and Sherwood Palmer. Each child jjave his gifts to the children at the home.. The elderly folks!: were especially delighted with the carolers and were so pleased because they were thought of too. The group then sang for* the nuns in Johnsburg. Afterwards they gathered at the Palmers for hot dogs and hot chocolate, In Appreciation By now most of you have received your adjusted road assessment bills with an in-, terest rebate from last year. We not only give credit to Mr. Skinner but also Walter Dean and the Local Boardt-of Improvements for the Township of McHenry. This Board has been working very diligently for the past year, trying to correct our interest rate. When our S.E.H.O.A. attended the township board meeting, Mr. Dean invited Calvin Skinner, our newly elected county treasurer, to also attend. It was not very long ^after that meeting that the matter was solved due to the efforts of .our County Treasurer, the McHenry Township Board ot Local Improvements, and our'association. Happy Anniversary Anniversary wishes to Ted and Dorothy Bierchen who w i l l c e l e b r a t e t w e n t y - f i v e silver years on Jan. 10. Ed and Vi Rodiek will be wed three muslin years on Jan. 11. Many more happy years together. S.E.H.O.A. Do not forget the association meeting tonight at the Johnsburg school. The meetings are not too well attended so it is hoped you will make a special effort to be there. It is A' good chance to get out and chat with some of your neighbors.
