Friday. - the four spent all day shopping in the loop and then ate dinner in a very elegant French restaurant. On Saturday they joined the O'Connells in Elk Grove for a New Year's eve dinner, where they spent the evening and most of the morning welcoming in the New Year in style. The Moores went to Grayslake on New Year's Day where Roger's brother and family entertained twenty ' members of the immediate family. On New Year's Day the Ed Wickmans joined Ed's three • s i s t e r s a n d f a m i l i e s a n d . Mom and Dad Wickman at the home of his sister, and family, the Jack Waters. They all enjoyed a delicious meal and peaceful relaxation on "the"day after the night before." New Year's Day P. J., Karen, Danny < and Chuckic Schneider ate dinner at Grandma Schneiders in Sunnyside. They were not only celebrating the New Year but P.J.'s birthday as well. The De Franciscos entertained neighbors, Rose, and Mike Tillich, on New Year's Eve wife much good food and drink. The Duane Schneiders gave a New Year's Eve party at their home. Among the eight couples were the Richard Radtkes and the Robert Pinkonsleys. It was a merry group, indeed, who danced away the old year and welcomed in the new with a song and friendly greetings. Red and Mary Davis had n very good time welcoming in the New Year while visiting some of the local night spots. On New Year's Day George and Millie Kropf and Millie's sister, Vi, went out in between football games for a delicious dinner. That is, JJillie could not exactly say the food was good because sfeie is suffering from a bad cold but she said it Iboked so good. The Eichhorns went to dinner at the home of Joanne's parents, Mr.-and Mrs. Henry Clark, for New Year's Day. There were ten of their family together for this occasion. Bristal Oaks, Wis., was the • scene of much partying by the Dunfofds and many other people out to usher in the New Year. Later in the evening John and Sherri and two other couples went to a party in Silver Lake, Wis. From there they went to Richmond where four couples got together and wfent to the Dunford " residence w h e re they ended the perfect evening with breakfast. Roy and Doric- Gowan at- ... tended the New Year's Eve party at the Leo Krabbenhoft residence in Pistakee Bay. New Year's Eve brought together the Jim Williams, the Ed Wickmans, the Tom Ilanahans, the Ken Segerstroms. the Walter Bergs, the Don Gretiens, and the Art Kennebecks at the Knights of Columbus hall in Ingleside The evening was filled with dancing, singing, refreshments and delicious food. Dick and Alice Janicki spent New Year's Day at the home of Dick's sister in Evanston. Then to Elm wood Park for a short visit with Alice's family. The Kobuses went to Niles to join nineteen of Helen's relatives at her brothers home for New Year's dinner and some pleasant conversation. Kelly and La Vern Noah joined the Jesskis for a short evening of fun and New Year's celebration. On New Year's Day Earl and Bernice Fiy entertained two of Bernice's sisters and their husbands and her father. A dinner was served for everyone to enjoy. Ray and Alice Bieschke were hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jensen and ten other guests who all had a great time welcoming in the New Year together. Vacations Over Oiristmas Jerry and Cindy Whalen and daughter. Kim, spent Christmas weekend in Decatur. visiting with both of their parents. Cindy and Kfm stayed on at her parents when Jerri' had to return home to his job. New Year's weekend he returned to Decatur. New Year's Eve they went to- a party at the home of friends in Springfield. It was a real swinging time and a good chance to catch up onv the latest happenings with their many friends they seldom see. After a very busy, week they returned home on Monday. Red and Mary Davis and family flew to New Port Richey, Fla., for a tell day vacation. They spent Christmas and most of their vacation with Mary's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doherty. The Davises went to St. Petersburg w h e r e t h e y v i s i t e d w i t h Mary's aunt and family. They found they enjoyed every minute of their vacation but when they returned they were not very delighted with all the snow which had fallen while they were enjoying 70 degree weather. Vandalism We are sorry to report that there has been acts of vandalism in the Estates again. There have been eggs thrown on and in cars, car windows broken and a sharp object was used to scratch the car from one end to the other. There can be no reason for such actions and these actions can be punished by our laws. If they persist the police will be notified. Birthday Celebrations Ellen Boomfield celebrated her tenth birthday on New Year's Eve afternoon at the home of her. Grandmother Allen. Fifteen relatives gathered to wish Ellen a very happy birthday. Jean Gerke was very pleased when her twin brother from Des Plaines visited her on their birthdays. Entertaining and Visiting On Christmas The Josts entertained their daughter, Arlene, and husband, Jerry Thiel, and children of Dutch Creek on Christmas Eve. Oiristmas day brought many people' to the Kropf home for dinner. Don Lokota, two of Ray's friends from McHenry, Linda and George K r o p f , M i l l i e ' s m o t h e r a n d sister and George's mother a l l e n j o y e d s p e n d i n g t h i s very special day together. The Dcttlows, Helge, Ruth and Donnie, spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Olson in Chicago. The Christmas celebration was made a little special by the presence of their nephew from Delaware. The Hanahans entertained Grandma Todesco, Dolores' brother, Arthur, and Carol Sykora. They dined in Wisconsin and then returned home for a leisurely afternoon and evening of pleasant conversation. Linda and George Kropf were among ten relatives who gathered at the Janicki home for a delicious dinner .with Dick and Alice. A double celebration was held at the Kobus home on Christmas day. It seems' Sol's birthday is on this special holiday and in some ways it is not as nice as one' would think. By the time all the Christmas shopping is done there is not much money left for birthday presents. Mr. Plewa, a relative, and Randy and Lee Kobus joined the rest of the family for a delicious dinner. and- a little merryment. The J e s s k i s ' d a u g h t e r , Vickie, and husband, Gary Krispin, spent three days over the Oiristmas holiday. On Christmas Eve Mr. Ramsaur joined the Jesskis for an evening of fun and conversation. Bernice Fry was pleasingly surprised when she received her Christmas present. It seems Bernice has a new addition to the family, a five month little black poodle. Serviceman Home Millie and George Kropf had their hands and house full of guests over the holidays. It all began when Ray came home foV a ten day leave. The Kropf residence was in a state of mass confusion with people in and out twenty-four hours a day. It all came to an end Dec. 28 when Ray left but Millie can look forward to tlie same thing around June. Outing For the Brownies The Brownies from this area rented a roller rink in Antioch. Karen Kennebeck, Pam De Franc iso and Tammy Bieschke were among those who spent a full afternoon roller skating and just having all kinds of fun. Sympathy Our deepest sympathy is extended to Karl and Henrietta Rau whose brother-inlaw, Art Frillman, of Melrose Park passed aWay'after a short illness; over New Year's weekend. The families have been very close over the years. Mr. Frillman was married to Karl's sister and they had recently celebrated twenty-five years of marriage. Surgery Early in December Dick Gerke underwent surgery at the Harvard hospital. He is now at home doing fine and recuperating for six weeks. Here and There Magnus and Louise Olson visited with their good friends in Lake Villa during the holidays for a. friendly game of cards and conversation. The Raus spent Monday after Christmas with their sonsin- law in Waterford, Wis. Twelve people gathered for a tasty meal and Christmas cheer. The Segerstroms went to Chicago on Monday to convey their New Year's wishes to Sally's family, the William Morrisons, grandparents and two sisters. Then they headed wouth to Ken's brother's, the Charles Segerstroms, where they'wined and dined. "'There still was enough hours left in the day to stop for a visit at the Robert Conways in Cicero, before making/the long trip home. On Monday the Tilliches went to Shalimar Estates to the home of Rose's brother, the Kaisers. Her mom and dad and brother and family also were there. ,/ On Monday Sandy and Duane Schneider had Duane's mother from £lgin and brother who is home on leave from the army and Sandy's parents from MfcHenry all over for dinner. Before Christmas the Simmonses spent the day in Milwaukee at the home of Shirley's sister. While there they ' helped with the wrapping and delivering of toys and food baskets for the needy. This was sponsored by the American Legion and was a very rewarding experience to say the least. Joe and La Vern Jost hosted a party on Thursday evening with ten guests present LaVem had prepared a race buffet supper for all to enjoy. Jim and Fran Fuqua joined thirteen of Jim's close relatives for an early holiday celebration in an Elgin restaurant. On Dec. 17, Frank and Celestine Michels went to Berlin, Wis., to join their daughter and her family for an early holiday celebration. Monday brought many unexpected visitors to the Higgins home. During the day Grandma and Grand p a Rounds of Crystal Lake, Grandma Westbrook of Fox Lake, and aunt and cousin from McHenry and the Drews and children from Woodstock all stopped in to wish Bob and Denise a Happy New Year. Snrprise! The Lucky Ladies honored Jim and Fran Fuqua at their Christmas dinner with a crib full of gifts for their up and coming heir. The B\iquas w e r e/ surprised and very pleased. When Jim was asked to make a speech, he good naturedly wished that, they would all be in their position next year. Birthdays Birthday wishes today to thirteen year old Eric Mikkelsen, seven year old Martin Von Oepen and three year old Chris Walczynski. On Jan. 13 Mary Mooha celebrates with Steve Kanter who will be eleven. Gregory Jesski will be sixteenvon*tan- How Can Q. How can I remesh a zipper that has pulled out of its slider? , A.
