RUGGEBO Staff members and board members of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County are completing arrangements for the fifty-third annual meeting at Marian Central Catholic high school cafeteria next Tuesday night, Jan. 24. Dr. S. L. Ruggero of Wonder Lake is chief of staff. The 7:30 p.m. dinner meeting, will attract a large crowd, swollen by the Memorial Hospital for McHenry County association membership which exceeds 600. Election of directors, reports by Administrator Bert Hanson and Jack Byers, president, are among the highlights. The meeting marks the final one for Byers, who has headed the organization the past six years during a vital period of improvement. He has served six years and is not eligible for a directorship under the association by-laws. Three new persons have been nominated. Seven others have been nomi n a t e d f o r ' j w - e l e c t i o n . The three new nominees include Harold Nye, McHenry; Gordon Thurow, Woodstock; and Mrs. Flora Mann, Woodstock. Nominated for re-election are Harold Beth, Robert Olson, Mrs. Jack Satorius and Mrs. Virgil Smith, /Wood- Stock; David Blahnik, Crystal Lake; and Kenneth Merley and Richard Zieman, McHenry. Featured speaker at the annual dinner meeting will be L. L. "Dutch" Cunningham, an inspirational speaker who was formerly president of the Business Institute of Milwaukee. Reservations are being accepted now., Members have received a letter with a reservation form. Guests are also welcome, and they can make reservations by contacting Bert Hanson, administrator at Memorial hospital. A check of annual statistics compiled by Hanson shows the occupancy rate stayed at the level it has maintained for the past four years. For 1966 it was 74.1 per cent. This is about the same as the national average. The number of admissions was slightly higher in 1966 than in 1965 --3,860 in 1966 and 3,689 in 1965. However, the number of 4 patient days" was down slightly. The total number of hours donated by the volunteer workers of the woman's auxiliary was up in 1966--14,386 hours compared with 14,210 in 1965. A big jump was shown in the number of physical therapy treatments given both patients of the hospital and out-patients. In 1966, 10,624 treatments were given. In 1965, the total was 8,245.
