The anniversary will commemorate the work of Dr. Martin. Luther, the 16th century theologian who initiated the reformation of the church by posting ninety-five theses or statements for discussion to the door of the Castle church in Wittenberg, Germany, on Oct. 31, 1517. Nativity Lutheran church, Wonder Lake, is one of more than 17,000 Lutheran congregations throughout the United States and Canada which will mark the 450th anniversary of the Reformation. The celebration of the 450th Reformation anniversary will be on^Sunday, Oct. 29, 1967. Special emphasis will be given the Reformation at this service. The slogan is based on Biblical references to Jesus Christ as the Life of men and on a concept of "the repentence and renewal which the Spirit of God would bestow on men today through Him." "It is an especially relevant thematic statement of the Gospel for the modern world," commented the Rev. Dr. Malvin Lundeen, chairman of the anniversary committee.
