The meeting, for the benefit of Nunda Township residents, was supposed to have answered some questions on road maintenance and the use of township equipment. It was stated that it was an informational meeting, however, no one present was qualified to answer the questions from the floor, and LeRoy Geske, the present road commissioner, was unexplainably absent. There were two hours of discussion, with no questions answered. Those present left uninformed and feeling that their time had been wasted. S PINEWOOD DERBY ^Roy Breede won the first place trophy in Cub Scout pack 458's pinewood derby. Ronald Winter and Tommy Lundelius were second and third place Winners respectively. Derby lodges were Jim Harper, Bill Abbink and John Potratz. The pack meeting held in Crystal Lake on Thursday, Inarch 16, had a great deal of {j££i$ial business to take care of that night. Two new scouts were! welcomed into the pack that night, namely, John Boettcher and David McLinder. Wards presented were Bob McWilliams, Bear Bdge, Ken Boettcher, Recruiters Stripe, and Gerry Krueger, Lion Badge, 1 Gold Arrow and 1 Silver Arrow. Refreshments were served by Midge Teuber and Marie Edwards. CONFIRMATION Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church was the scene of a most important event in the life of Dean Leonard Heise on Palm Sunday, March 19. Dean and sixteen other young people, who have been receiving instruction for 2 years, were confirmed by Rev. D. Johnson and received into adult membership of the church. On hand to help celebrate the important occasion for Dean were his Godparents, Leonard Ecks'.rum and Mrs. Doris Reiser and their families, his grandparents, Mr. ai:d Mrs. R. Godfrey, and Mrs. Adele Heise, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Nicolay and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Teuber and family and Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and family. A buffet dinner was served and later in the day a light supper to the thirty-five guests present. The new little miss, named Lisa Ann, has one sister, Joan, and three brothers, Mike, Tony and Mitchell. ALOHA OE Marge and Earl Krueger have just returned from a dream vacation to the Hawaiian islands. Leaving here on Friday, March 3, they flew to Honolulu and for the next six days, 'is- . land hopped' to the islands of' Maui, Kawai and Hawaii, then bade to Oahu and Waikiki, where they spent the restoftheir stay. NEWS ITEMS Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Richard Gruner who underwent surgery on March ^ 23 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Bernice Musielak's sister, Leona, her husband, Lt. Bob Ciszewski, and their new baby, Christopher, were in the Shores for two days. They are on leave from Brunswick, Me., and after two weeks will be going back to pack and then will be transferred to Monterey, Calif. The Schweikerts will be having the traditional Easter dinner with sons, Bob and Don, and both families, Bonnie Schweikert. The only one missing will be Steven who is in the service but the thoughts of all will be with him. Connie Lindwall was hostess to a bridal shower on Sunday given in honor of Ann Marie Wickstrom of Waukegan who was Karen's maid of honor. Twenty guests enjoyed the turkey and ham buffet dinner after the many beautiful gifts were Jack Schramm made his Communion on March 19 at the Shepherd of the Hills church after which the family gathered for dinner.
