Donald Johnson in Shepherd of the mils Lutheran church. Acting as maid of honor for the bride was Kathy Zank, and bridesmaids were her sisters, Donna and Nancy Lamberg. Steve Laas acted as best man and ushers were Larry Laas and Charles Bock. A reception followed the ceremony at the Community house in Lakeland Park. Wed Fifty Years Lynn Baker Wed Last Saturday A gown of chantilly lace was . the choice of Miss Lyim Baker for her wedding last Saturday, March 25, in the First Baptist church of McHenry. Rev. Virgle Chappell officiated at the noon service which united in marriage Miss Baker and Mr. Charles Enoch Skelton. Miss Baker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Alan Baker of 719 W. Wegner road, McHenry, and her husband, son of Mr. and Mrs. Enoch J. Skelton, Enka, S. Carolina, is serving on the UJSJS. Ozark, Charleston, South Carolina. White gladioli and white snapdragons decorated the altar of the church for the wedding ceremony. Miss Baker's gown was styled with natural waistline, square, scalloped neck embellished with sequins and long, tapered sleeves. The full skirt featured a flat panel in front and four tiers or ruffles forming the skirt and continuing into a pointed train. Her headpiece was a lace crown studded with pearls and three tiers of English silk illusion veiling. Miss Margaret Karas of 212 S. Lily Lake road, McHenry, acted as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Margaret Wagner of Grayslake and Diane Chobot of Island Lake. GOP WOMEN'S CLUB PLANS FOR SPRING BRUNCH The Cardinal room of the Moraine-on-the-Lake hotel in Highland Park will be the setting for the 12th Congressional district Women's Republican club's spring brunch on Monday, April 10. Congressman Robert Mc- Clory will be the featured speaker .presenting his annual "Report from Washington" to his constituency following comments by the club's president, Mrs. Adeline Geo-Karis Lambros, practicing attorney in Lake county. Since this will also be the club's annual meeting, there will be a short business meeting including necessary proposed by-law changes discussed by Mr s.Fred Sells, commentator on radio station WKRS in Waukegan. Personals Carmen Stilling Feted At Shower Carmen Stilling, a bride of next Saturday, has been honored at two recent showers. Hie first, given by Mrs. TTiomas Draffkorn at her home in Woodstock, had as assistant hostesses, Mrs. Harold Diedrich, Mrs. Dennis Diedrich and Linda and Cheryl Adams. About fifty guests attended. The buffet table was decorated for the occasion with a sprinkling can in pink and white motif. Games occupied the guests duririg the afternoon. The second shower was held act the home of Mrs. Terry Howard, with Mrs. Jack Powers, Mrs. Betty Hurtt and Roselle Stilling assisting. The refreshment table was decorated with a bride centerpiece. Father Clarence Thennes of Stockton was an Easter visitor in the home of his sister, Mrs. Frank Gende. Mr. and Mrs. Christy Burns of Waukegan spent Thursday with Miss Rena Scheid. They had just returned from a three s months stay in Fort Richey, Fla. Visitors in the Scheid home on Saturday were John Molidor of Arcadia, Wis., and William Molidor of Round Lake. Gerald Blake left Friday for a weekend visit with his sisters in Delphos, Ft. Jennings and Glandorf, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Antonson and daughter, Lori, of Evanston spent the Easter weekend with McHenry relatives. FRED RITTER Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ritter of 4417 Riverdale drive, McHenry, observed their golden wedding anniversary on Thursday, March 23. Fifty friends and relatives surprised the couple at their home that evening and the large gathering enjoyed a sumptuous buffet supper. The Ritters were presented with a lovely gift from those in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Ritter were married March 23,1917, in Chicago and have resided in this area for the past nineteen years. Formerly, Mr. Ritter owned and operated the Norsemen's Resort in Riverdale subdivision for eighteen years, until his retirement. They have one son, Raymond, of Round Lake Beach; one daughter, Mrs. Brandon (Lydia) Hanck of Highland Park; four grandchildren and (me great-grandchild. length, white linen dresses with coats of lavender linen edged in white embroidered lace. Their headpieces were of linen roses, with a bow, and butterfly veil in lavender. Kenneth Skelton served as best man and groomsmen were Ronald Blake and Brian Baker of McHenry. Mrs. Baker selected for her daughter's wedding a beige brocade dress with matching coat, while Mrs. Skelton was attired in pink. A reception followed the ceremony at the McHenry Country club for 100 guests. Hie young couple will make their home at 2304 Hartnett avenue, Isle of Palms, South Carolina, while he is stationed with the Navy. Hie bride is a grduate of McHenry high school and attended Chicago Circle campus for a year. She is advertising manager of Beco Sales division. The bridegroom is a graduate of William Byrd high school. Years MR. AND MRS. FRED FOWLES The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fowles of 3114 W. Waukegan road, McHenry, was celebrated recently when 125 friends and relatives attended a reception at the George Diamond restaurant, Antioch. Open house was followed by dinner enjoyed with their sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Homer L. Fowles of Grass Lake and Mr. and Mrs. William A. Fowles of Waukegan. The couple also has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. They were married March 14, 1917, in Waukegan. Before moving to McHenry in 1940, they resided in the Waukegan and the Grass-Lake-Antioch communities. AUXILIARY TO HOSPITAL GIVES $200 SCHOLARSHIP The women's auxilary of the McHenry Hospital is offering a scholarship of $200 per year for three consecutive years, applicable for training of nurses. Doctors, x-ray technicians, laboratory technicians, physical therapists, dieticians, or any related professions serving hospital needs will be awarded $100 per year. Any young man or woman who has the necessary qualifications for entrance to the course of training he or she elects tQ follow, is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Application forms maybe secured at the various high schools in the area or from the scholarship chairman, Mrs. Wm. R. Landin,' 1501 Grant Street, Route 2, Ingle side, 01., 60041. Completed applications must be returned to Mrs. Landin before May 1. Scholarships will be awarded before the close of the current school year. Green St. JILL JOHNSTON CHOSEN SCHOOL HONOR RESIDENT Miss Jill Johnston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alford Johnston of 3815 W. Grove avenue, McHenry, has been extended an invitation to serve as an honor resident in the residence halls for the year 1967-68 at Illinois State university, Normal, 111. Honor residents are chosen each< yeat from upperclass women on the basis of the record they have made for themselves at the university. Miss Johnston has been selected not only for her displayed interest in the university and its activities, but her potential leadership abilities. In this role, she will assume a share of responsibility for the administration of hall policies. Jill spent the Easter vacation in Scottsdale, Ariz., with her aunt, Mrs. Dean Gehlbach. Her parents met her at the airport Wednesday and drove back to school at Normal with her. ARTISTS BEGIN WORK TOWARD '67 ART FAIR Artists all over McHenry county are hard at work preparing for the summer. Paint brushes, sculptors tools, molding supplies for ceramics, glue pots for collage', cameras and equipment for the photography division, are all parts of the preparations. Invitations have been sent to artists who previously entered but any interested McHenry county artists is welcome. Details are available by calling Mrs. Dwight Wernquist or Mrs. William Strout. In addition to the original artistic creations being judged for a prize, the sponsoring woman's auxiliary of McHenry hospital conducts an intensive patron's purchase program. Many businesses and public institutions have been participants and recipients of art pieces by McHenry county artists through tlus program. A patron may place a deposit prior to the Art Fair and then before it is opened to the public selections may be made from the items entered by county artists. Interested committee members planning for the June 16, 17 and 18 event meet each third Thursday of the month in the McHenry hospital meeting room under the co-chairmanship of Mrs. James Kenton, Pistakee Bay, Mrs. Harry Eckland, McHenry, and Mrs. William Strout, Crystal Lake. Anyone interested in assisting is welcome to attend. Birthday Party April 9 Planned Neighbors and friends of Mrs. Esther Born of 3228 E. Lake Shore drive, Wonder Lake, are invited to a birthday party to be given in her honor by neighbors. It will be held at the Born home from 2 until 4 o'clock on Sunday, April 9. Mikosz, 4603 West Home avenue, McHenry, was formally installed vice-president of his social fraternity March 13 on the campus of the University of Arizona, Tucson. The ceremonies took place at the Alpha Beta chapter of the Alpha Kappa Lambda national social fraternity. Leonard is a sophomore majoring in history and is attending the university under the Byron F. Clarke scholarship. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Smith, Sr., and the great-grandfather is John Kilday. STUDENT TEACHER Lorraine Lid of 2002 S. Rt. 31, McHenry, is among student teachers going out from Northern Illinois university halls of learning to public schools for their practical experience. Some will finish their nine-week teaching stints March 31, when more than 300 other seniors and graduate students will start their training. BENEFIT SALES The Christian, Mothers of St. Mary's will hold a rummage sale and bake saie in the gym on April 20, 21 and 22, with hours the first two days from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will benefit the Newman center at DeKalb.
