The lower rates will become effective May 1. DISCONTINUES BUSINESS Clarence Regner, newly elected McHenry township highway commissioner, has announced that he is discontinuing his trucking and sand and gravel business after thirty years of service to the community. The business has been in the Regner family for more than a half century, having been founded by his father, the late John Regner. Mr. Regner said his decision to give up the business resulted from his election last week and a pledge to devote full time to his elected office. FORM PARTNERSHIP Ralph E. Contractors for the various GENE GRAVES Gene Graves, director of the Department of business and Economic Development for the state of Illinois, will address the Fox Valley General Contractors association at their annual spring dinner meeting to be held at the Chicago Title and Trust company in Geneva on April 18; Mr. Graves, who was one of the key figures in selling the advantages of the Weston site to the Atomic Energy commission, will in his talk attempt to forecast the economic, cultural, and social impact 4he atomic accelerator will have on the Fox Valley. Mr. Graves is a graduate of Southern Dlinois university, having earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. AQUATIC POLLUTION MEET The effects of pesticides and different kinds of pollution on aquatic life will be among the 50 subjects discussed at the 15th annual meeting of the Midwest Benthological society. The meeting, April 5-7 at Southern Illinois university in Carbondale, is open to the public. Pollution biologists, sanitary engineers, fisheries technicians, chemists and professors from all the states and several foreign countries are members. HAIL STORM STUDY A spring and summer finding program on hail starmar in Central Illinois began April 3. The program will involve Cooperation of many farmers living in the study area as well as insurance adjustors investigating hail damage, according to the Illinois State Water Survey. The study will combine complete radar and surface observations of any hail occurring over a 29-county area and a study of damage. Field operations, to be conducted April through September in 1967 and 1968, are part of a highly detailed hail study supported by a two-and-a half-year grant from the National Science foundation and by the Crop- Hail Insurance Actuarial association.
