Thousands of dollars worth of damage was suffered to the building and reconstruction is currently under way at the plant. The Albert Vales' house on south River Road was extensively damaged when a huge tree fell on the front part of the home. Damaged was the front porch, roof and parts of the upstairs rooms. k A large tree across Route 31 from the Gearmaster plant was uprooted but did little damage to the property on which is was located. Many other trees in the McHenry area were blown down causing some damage. A 1966 automobile parked in front of the Gearmaster plant south of McHenry on Route 31 was damaged when parts of the building and roof were torn from the building and landed on the car.
